I've been running the Jebao Wavemaker OW-10 on my 48g planted tank for just over 2 years now. Zero problems. I've only cleaned it twice in that time. I run it on the lowest speed, with pulse, for about 8 hours a day. Beautiful reef tank, and great content. Keep up the good work!

got 3 Jebao put them in 3 years ago. never cleaned them, (well once every 3 years) only replacing one now because I took it out to clean and the back feels and sounds like a snapple top. app is rough but its price point is right and super super easy to program. But I am replacing One jebao to make my self happy. old one will go into the back up box. the wave pumps I have PP -15 sow-10 and a SCP -90m. PP went in 3 years ago when I set up the tank.

My friend has small reef aquariums service company in my country and sold hundreds of Jebao pumps. Circulating pumps are incredible durable, in five years he installed over 100 and no single pump was returned for warranty replacement! RW pumps is another story - each second he sold was returned and soon he stoped selling these. SW series is different thing, they are much, much better.

You are soooo right ! I love the volume of movement and silence of the Jebao PP 20s, however they both crapped out in about 1 year. The magnets did hold strong through 1inch plywood in my diy plywood aquarium, but they weren't cheap. I plumbed a magdrive 1800 in rear of tank. Its on rock in back corner of tank, with black piping, up and across back.. I have locline with a 3inch blade outlet that gives great surface agitation. The magdrive may use a bit more electric, however they are bulletproof, and always give me many years of service. And it was $50 bucks cheaper, than 2 PP 20s.

Very true. At least they are cheap
@Butcherbirdwoodworking
@Butcherbirdwoodworking 4 жыл бұрын
if your mp40 was loud it's because you didn't adjust the wet side. they are supposed to be whisper quiet at 100%. you need to install it and then slowly turn the wet side while it's running in order to adjust it. if you leave it running without adjusting the wet side first it'll wear out the pump because the motor is off balance.

Funny thing Is I tried some of the ones I thought were broke and by banging the wavemaker I got it up and working again! Glad I dint throw many away. What happens is it cuts off and controller starts flashing! I bought One of the hyggers this timme since It wasnt much more but trying to figure out how to use it is ridiculous! I was hoping you would tell me in this video because I am lost! I just wish the jaebos lasted longer but now i have found if they you just bang them a few times and it will get going again! Now I'm looking new model sow-16m WiFi this is different design, re model had some electronic in the motor, new has everything in controller. So 40£ for 5 years is ok. Now for new model is around 105€. In Europe is 2 years guarantee, so no panic. Thanks anyway for share your experience

Interesting. I purchase 2 Hydor Koralia pumps (1500gph) in 2015 and all I do to them is let them run all day every day.and they are still going (7 years). One pump frame cracked but the pump still works. In other words, I don't do anything to them but let them run and do their job. I just bought 2 uniclife pumps (in new equipment testing mode) to see how they work because I want to try a pump with a controller. Time will tell if these work out. But, I will still have the Hydor pumps to fall back on.

what are you using to clean them? if you're using vinegar that might be the issue. the cheap magnets in them can swell in vinegar and seize up the impeller. you should clean everything in a mild citric acid solution. not only is it better for the equipment but it's safer for the tank and it's just as cheap as vinegar is.

If that one dies in another year like the jebao maybe try the coral box wave pumps. They're almost the same as the jebao, the controller is virtually identical and they're usually within a few bucks of each other, give or take, but they're engineered in Germany. I have one in my saltwater tank, and it's been going almost two years strong and I almost never clean it. Good luck with the self-isolation and I hope you and your family stay safe and healthy. Very rare a magnet motor dies so I’m thinking the same it’s his driver power going to it. Or the impellers break where they spin making it look like it’s not working.

I've had a rw jebao wavemaker for 5 years, never cleaned it and it's covered in coralline algae and it's still going strong. Yet I've been through 2 triple the cost aqua medic wavemakers in the same time. It's luck of the draw sometimes I think. And my aqua medic dc runner pump stopped after 2 years. I won't touch aqua medic again, but I'm all for jebao!

Lol, the word “Jebao” always creates debate! I still run an original WP10 that I’ve had for more than 5 years. FoH’s theory is that the manufacturing quality has declined in the past few years and I’m thinking he’s right. I own 6 nano-sized Jebaos of various series (can never keep them straight) that I rotate through the two spots in my tank where I use them. I run them on whatever setting that keeps the impeller in motion - never on stop/start pulsing. I’ve only had one die and that was because the basket was broken and I didn’t realize I could replace it, so I tossed the pump and kept the controller for running them in a weak solution of citric acid and water for cleaning. I clean them when they’re so clogged I can see the individual impeller blades as it’s running. But I will say, this being able to see the propeller blades is a new thing - it’s like the power just can’t move the impeller at a certain point. But I consider them great value for money. And - a magnet is a magnet is a magnet - as long as you have the correct polarity, you could maybe use the stronger Jebao magnet with the Hygger pump if you think the included magnet is undersized. 🤷‍♀️ And btw, many thanks for the superchat last week! I was subbed to you but didn’t have notifications turned on, so I’ve fixed that. And thank you for reading my novel-length comment. 🙄

Haha. Well said. Yes I’ve had plenty of success and plenty of failure with this pump but Dee also told me that running them on pulse is no good which in my mind defeats the purpose of “a wave maker”. But 🤷🏻‍♂️ they are cheap enough. I refuse to spend a ton of money on equipment as fish keeping is only one of my many hobbies I enjoy. If I had to pick one that I tend to over spend it’s probably actual fishing. Love a good rod and reel. Have a great weekend

I've had the same jebao wavemakers on my tank for over 5 years. Never replaced a single one. If you keep them clean they last forever. If you're lazy and don't clean them then expect them to fail on you. You can buy $300 mp10s and experience the same thing if you dont keep them clean.
@MASSAquariums
@MASSAquariums 4 жыл бұрын
I keep them spotless.
@MW-ut3dk
@MW-ut3dk 4 жыл бұрын
You’re the one guy in 100 that has that experience. You get what you pay for most of the time, especially anything that goes in saltwater. 2 mp10’s (3+yrs) and 1 AQAMAI kps (2+yrs) cleaned every 3 months until spotless, never had to replace anything, and would’ve spent the same dollars for jebaos for the same time of use. My pumps show no sign of slowing down in a 50 gallon breeder mixed reef and I expect to keep running them since I take care of them like Mike.
@dantheman9616
@dantheman9616 4 жыл бұрын
@@MW-ut3dk I'm nowhere near the only person who has the same experience. I know dozens of people who have the same experience. I've actually had mp10s fail before Jebaos before. So, I don't necessarily go by "you get what you pay for".

Daniel Hanson Again you may be an outlier among all those people who have bought jebao products-most customers have had shorter pump lives with these products. BRS, Fish of Hex, Marine Depot, etc. have all shown that the get what you pay for rule generally applies to most people most of the time. Sometimes you get lucky with jebao, most of the time you don’t. Just saying that even if you maintain these pumps like Mike has they are prone to failure at an earlier time. I would not assume that Mike hasn’t maintained his jebaos like you have-Mike’s a straight shooter so I would take him at his word and not accuse him of not cleaning his pumps.
@dantheman9616
@dantheman9616 4 жыл бұрын
@@MW-ut3dk All pumps are prone to fail no matter what their price point is. Also I wasn't insinuating that he was lazy. I was speaking in general because a lot of people don't clean their pumps but to be fair he complained about how reviews say to clean your pumps often.
