To anyone still on the fence with these: I’ve had mine for 2.5 years now and zero issues. As quiet as day one in the tank. Cleaned maybe every 4-6months in a 1/50 part vinegar soak for 20-30minute and toothbrush clean rinse. The next best with similar programmability starts used or refurbished at 3X’s the cost. This should be touted as the pico/nano/sub 30 budget go-to. Thank you for making this video and offering confirmation to my personal experience with this model.

WOW! You should have made this for hygger! I couldnt understand a word the woman said! I have set the time so far and the factory setting is blasting my corals. I have a 36 gallon. This thing puts out! How do I change how hard its putting out? Is that the power or frequency? I am surpised you are setting yours so high with a small tank the way mine is hitting my corals at default setting. You said that u didint want it turbulant so thats throwing me! Does that mean the frequecy is how hard it hits the corals? I am so unsure as to what setting to set to. If I set at random then will that change all the time? I am thinking of using that one. I think you said or directions might have, is if I set at random then I dont have to set all the different times of the day! Is that correct? I have no idea what is best for my corals. I have lps and some zoas and shrooms. What would you recommend.? What If I left it at default? The screen right now is just displaying time so I have no idea what it is set at! I felt the flow against my hand and it cuts on and almost off for a fec seconds to its definitely not steady stream which is good. Is just a little to hard. Is it good to change the differ flows at different times of the day? I wish I knew what the ocean would be like? lol
@TOMReefer2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenna, the first number on the controller is the time of day. The second number controls the output. 1 being the least amount of flow. So, lets say 5128 is the setting. The 1, is your flow amount. 1 being the least amount. In that 5 gallon tank, I was hitting it off the front class which slowed it down. Later I did turn it down. These setting will give you the least amount of flow 1128, 2128, 3128 4128 5128. The 1 in each time of day setting is the softest flow. The 2 just before the 8 in each group is the wave pattern, it will rise and fall. 8 is the frequency which is actually the slowest. Try watching the vid. One more time. 👍🏻

Tom do you have to continue programming like that for all 5 time periods? Do you have it ruin the nutrition transfer wave all the time or do you have the waves stop overnight?
@TOMReefer4 жыл бұрын
I’ve run it the same most of the day. You can change the program for each time of day, but I choose not to. The last setting of the day you can dial it back if you want. But I wouldn’t turn it off. More natural to keep it running. Reefs don’t stop at night, tidal surges slow but don’t stop, right?😃👍🏻

They work well! good for sps in under 30 gallons, and doing ok in my mixed 75gal for now.😃as things grow, I’ll need more flow I’m sure. Probably mp10 at that point.

Hi Tom - Love the videos. I just picked up the wave maker and for some reason I can’t get it to follow the preset schedule. It seems to adjust to the preset program based on the time I set but then it stays on that setting through the day. Any advice how I can get it to follow the program? Thanks in advance.
@TOMReefer3 жыл бұрын
Hi Metsdynastyx, it’s kinda hard via comment. You should be able to adjust each time of day with the M button. 1-5 modes. It will only show the mode it’s in at that time of day. Once you set 1 time of day, that’s set. Then just use the M button to set the 2,3,4,5. Not sure if this will help.

Bro, you have your times all wrong from 930 to 1400 which is 2:00 then from 2 to 1630 which is 4:30
@TOMReefer9 ай бұрын
Was just setting the time that I was making the video. You can set your wave action to any time. Hyggers idea of day time was wacky, those were not my instructions. The whole instruction Manual was very poor.

Excellent. Thank you for creating this. It's just what I needed. I bought this unit, and you are so right about the directions. But, you made it seem so simple. I have a 29g Biocube, so I saw that you recommend two units on opposite ends facing each other. When you have done that, did you program both units exactly the same? Thanks in advance for your reply.
@TOMReefer3 жыл бұрын
Hey Lonnie, thanks! What I might do with a 29 cube is possibly try one to start. Maybe counter current to your return in some way. My recommendation on using 2 was if you had a 20G regular or greater. Then the distance across the tank would be a bit far. However, having 2 would give you a lot of flexibility. Counter current flow is the best type of flow you want. So settings could be different. You might have to play around with the flow depending on how your corals are placed and reaction to the flow. 👍🏻 good question for Water Change Wednesday video! 😊

Nice tutorial Tom. I managed to figure out a bit of the programming and I'm at the stage of playing with the settings. A couple of things I learned (for those after me) I simply set the clock on the Hygger back 5 hours so that the programming would match my lighting. You can change the settings at any time no matter what time it is. What I am looking for now is actual settings that work. It is too much flow for the corals in my BioCube 16 at full power and I found that the constant stream wasn't awesome. Currently I am 1123, 2228, 3118, 4128, and 5123 but I'm guessing a bit and playing around. Someone I read has X128 across the board and is seemingly fine with it. I also read another person who has 2040 and 4040 (Sunrise and sunset) set to random but I feel like 100% is too much. Anyone who has this want to share settings? I've been trying to figure out what corals naturally want. To me the Day and Night settings are the more critical because they are on longer than the other ones. Thoughts?
@TOMReefer4 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott! Thanks for watching! You have some great advice to offer👍🏻I found you need to play a bit with the settings. I have mine set the same across the time settings 4328. It’s nutrition transfer wave 2. I find this to give all the corals a bit of everything. Stronger flow, then it eases down. My tank is 22 inches high, so I found I needed to max out on the power 100%. It also hits off my front glass which slows it down throughout the aquarium. You’re definitely headed in the right direction. Good luck! 😃

Does anyone know what the factory default is if you just set the time? I have a 36 bowfrot and its blasting pretty hard. It speeds up and then almost off. I have it back left of tank and a jeabo sow 20 I believe it is towards the middle on the right front. My lfs said that gives you more of a circular flow. I used to have then facing each other! I was thinking of just leaving it at random flow. Does that change the flow all the time to the different modes? I just now put it in my tank so havnt fooled with it much. How do you know what it is set at? It just shows the time on the screen right now? I appreciate any advice. This thing is a little complicated but offers a bang for the buck!
