My buddy plays a slight variation of this build and surprisingly enough, its good for all content. He makes a huge impact in Myrk runs, OPR, Tanking dungeons(lifestaff is actually crazy threat gen), etc. When i bring a spear and sit behind the mobs, he barely needs to heal. Very strong build that gets even more powerful when you add some synergy.

Can go lifestaff/void in heavy, lots of healing and good damage, timing the weapon switch is key so you don't lose the void sword. Refreshing on armour and sacred ground fortify is a must

Love paladin builds! I prefer Beacon over Orb for soloing though. The armor perk for beacon that increases your self healing is hella strong for 1vX. Beacon's cooldown starts ticking down when you cast it rather than when you pick up the HOT, so you can cast it on cooldown, but still choose when you want the HOT and boost to self healing power.

Remember that next patch you won't be able to have a hot buff with beacon and will only benefit from the area healing .

Very similar build to mine, I only switch it up and go 100 str, 150 focus and 200 con. I do this so that when I'm tanking with a carnelian gem as opposed to an amber gem, I do more damage.

@@LemoniGames Yes, I feel like when you have a dedicated healer you can 'get away' with 150 focus and push the remainder into strength, though I'd argue that with the insane amount of cooldown reduction, generating aggro through damage is unnecessary when you can use defiant stance so often.

LOVE it so far. It really is hard to take me down, have to look out for oblivion though as it's a game changer if you are sticking around in it. I'm using you attributes and the only issue I find is that the dmg is low, still do some dmg, but I think the benefits of having the pts in Con out way putting more in Strength. Nice job on this one :)

That attributes is what i was planing, its funny, i told my brother once i hitt 60 and can do 200 foc and 200 con i switch over to pala again. now i go full heal in expeditions. But that type is my playstyle. Ofcourse some changes tho. i whould go more points on tank to get that 30% (just my personal taste). i played this style in the beta. Happy to se you enjoy it aswell. And great content. did not know about backstab reduce so much cooldowns hitting more enemies.

@@LemoniGames It takes alot of work. I rather watch good content. What im doing solo thats great survive. Maybe faster kill is a Void life staff. Focus Main. Works good survive aswell. But for hardcore survive pala is great. Im more to the healer side tho. In expedition i gott pala or full healer. In solo Void life staff. Its so many different ways. So guess i have to save alot of infused leather to craft good gear ☺️

I personally tried a few paladin builds and my most successful one was going half strength half foc, heavy armor and war hammer with clear out, shockwave and wrecking ball. Lifestaff with orb and fortifying sacred ground. You have 40 % fortify, constant CC, weaken, grit and decent damage. Don't like sword honestly because it doesn't have grit.

SnS and Voidgauntlet is certainly viable because you don't really need any attribute investment to benefit from essence rupture or oblivion, both of which give you + stamina.

@@LemoniGames The only reason I don't run it personally is because if you're in an expedition, you probably have a healer and if they're smart they're using a VG secondary. But I've seen people tanking the bigger Myrkgard bosses utilising the stamina regen from oblivion, essence rupture, and the passive in Defender that gives 15 stam on shield rush and/or bash. Definitely viable, but I reckon this build is more well rounded. Thanks for the video!

One thing to note about Beacon - it's nerfed on PTR and will be nerfed on live next week. The nerf is that you have to stay inside Beacon to have any benefits - right now you can cast beacon on your feet and you will get HoT, after next patch this goes away. So you can't run around with beacon healing you like you can right now after next week.

I would have to think you would want Chain Nature as your second perk on your life staff. It is not a lot of damage but if you are full tank and just sending out some hits to while you wait on an ability to come back it is pretty nice. I used a life staff with Chain Nature on it for a while and it was very good expectally in lower level areas because the chain does about 30% of their health.

@@LemoniGames won't be an issue. They have to have the perks to drop first and most aren't going to give up the crit hit dmg perk because they supposedly share the same perk slot. Also healing debuffs are subtractive against healing buffs. And I think all% based buffs are capped at 50%. We have so many buffs we will always be at healing cap no matter what.

I use the gap closer, stab and shield charge abilities. Having that 30% slow with such a long lunge is insane for OPR and the stab just helps reset cooldowns because it scales based on how many targets you hit. And they fixed the gap closer so it hits better close up! Loving shield better than war hammer for pvp. Even bought a semi decent 600 legendary sword someone tried to get rid of for 1k so I'm ready for next week's patch lol

Instead of more damage at full health, why not choose the heavy attack to remove a debuff (forget the actual perk name). That way every time you get rid of a debuff you also get empowered. I run with shield bash instead of shield rush for pvp to get that 3 seconds of repositioning.

I'd be curious about a Sword/Shield + Void Gauntlet setup. And then, even though it scales on focus, go with intellect, and go with an intellect gem. Goal is to increase damage output, but not lose survivability. Comparing it to a Life Staff build that does NOT include Light's Embrace, can this be done? Meaning, can we get VG and sword to do more damage AND at least equal survivability than a LS and sword? (Again, assuming NOT using a LS direct heal)

I run something similar to this at around a 590 GS. 3k phys resistance, 1.5k ele resistance. All those physical armor buffs hit even aharder the more you stack phys resistance.

@@masonvasquez2391 durable trait gear supposedly had alot of physical I think. But fortify doesn't work like he thinks it does. It's 1 - (rend minus fort) * 1- (armor - armor pen) * 1- (gem mitigation). At most you can get is 50% in most percentage buffs, but you can go over and make rend completely useless.

TL DR, How does one best self heal, without Focus investment, using 300 Strength for Grit, and not relying exclusively on potions? I also want to know how to do this: -Sword/Shield with 300 Strength for grit Then add in what weapon, what other attributes, what abilities, to best maximize damage and self sustain utilizing the Sword/Shield as main weapon. Not trying to be a dps, trying to do damage with the 300 Strength bonus Grit bubble, but still retaining some semblance of survivability. My guess would be 300 Strength, then rest into Con. But as far as weapons for secondary, don't know. The self heal from defiant stance is GREAT on multi mob pulls. But HORRIBLE for long drawn out boss fights. I wish there was a way to self heal better, without investing into Focus.

Right tree of war hammer. You get back 35% of the damage done with the habilities, so if you are at 300 cons you would get a nice chunk of life back. You can also pair it with leeching in your ring and the other lifesteal perk un your weapon to get a 10% of lifesteal. The other well-known option is going for hatchet, 30% of max hp, but you need to keep berserk until the end of it. You can also go for a void gauntlet int tank, 200 cons, 250 int. Same about leeching, getting a 10% of lifesteal, plus 15% of every crit, plus 15% weapon damage every heavy attack with 3 stacks of desintegrate from void blade, plus 20%*5+80% weapon damage with Orb of decay, plus 30% of the damage done if you get the perk voracius blade. You'll be getting also 30-60% fortify from void blade and petrifying scream. You'll idealy want enchanted, keen and lifesteal/empowering keen in your VG, voracius blade on you armor and keen+leeching on your ring. You can also get healthy toast, since you'll be in need of mana for the VG and those are cheap, you'll get a 7-8% of your max hp on 15sec cd.

Can never get reversing stab to land properly. 6+ mobs in front of me, reversing stab hits 4 at a time only about 25% of the time. usually only hit 2 of them. I think they made the hitbox for that skill smaller.

@@hazrddd hmm kind of do my own thing. What i do like is using refreshing moves on my hammer and using heavy attack (empowered), knockdown, light attack X2, stun, light attack X2, stun, heavy atk... etc... The light attack hits multiple enemies and lowers cooldowns significantly. just standing in your healing circle and spamming heavy attacks is also good and can be done early since it gives grit so you don't get pushed around so much, that's the most annoying thing about going shield, although you have a shield you seem to have less grit than Greataxe and hammer Oh and for pve i don't use clear out i use Wrecking Ball instead since it's extra CC, chain knockdown/stun on mulitple enemies.

@@LemoniGames oh yeah i see what you're doing, definately. just carry a shield with you for group content. Tanking melee is easy especially multiples because you can just aoe CC them with hammer, you don't get pushed around. Ranged and bosses might be easer with shield. What i like most about using shield is that i can use the smaller shields and have Keen+Enchanted+something on them AND on sword which gives you +20% dmg on light attack, heavy attacks, 20% crit chance on sword and shield alone! Though refreshing move X2 is also very very coolon sword and shield (kite shield has refreshing move) Like you, i love to make builds :)

@@MarcDejunior reverse stab has grit. Tbh any grit that isn't 300 str is pretty limited because they have the grit only on specific parts of the animation. It's why war hammer is hit or miss for the heavy attacks, because if that grit was full animation you'd see more people run war hammer for DPS in PvP with great success instead of the cc chain identity it is.
