Launch update - Paladin build still viable. Find the update video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/f6K8o5mhpLh_ha8 Update (10/16) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/robRiqVvgbWoqMU Latest Update 11/8/2021 - Going to make a video soon but orb of protection was nerfed, instead of only 2 points into the spell to get the same effect we now need to put in 4. We can just take 2 points from the other perks we would've chosen and do that instead, I'll get a fleshed out update vid for it soon. They've hardly touched any of the weapons since the obt so this vid and the update vid are still both in effect. Previous war streams with this build - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZ-cmWSqg5mnb80 kzbin.info/www/bejne/fJvWpYeNjLeErMU Had no idea what to expect when I first tried this out but it's quickly become my absolute favorite build in this game and I cannot wait to see how it could potentially evolve in the future, maybe with another type of focus weapon if they add it. In the meantime here's the full breakdown to becoming a Paladin in New World and as always - various things in this guide are subject to change. Hope you have a great time for the rest of Beta and I'll see you in Aeternum folks!! Other notes --------- When you get to the attribute breakdown part it's supposed to be 40-50 get at least 100 focus and leave it there, it says con on the screen but I say it vocally. You'll want 100+ focus around that point! Completely slipped my mind that they added clamping for some of the buffs. So our fortify shouldn't stack past 50% at any given time but since the orb lasts 10 seconds longer than Defiant, you can still use it before that so you get a more sustained amount of fortify without having to switch back to reapply it. And add that onto Defensive training + any other fortify buffs you can get.

Been running your build idea for a good portion of the beta now, i love the idea that i can swap Sword to any other weapon that has Con/Focus or "Str/Dex/Int" and it's viable. It grants great flexibility. I wish Ice Gauntlet was more viable in early game, but there are huge mana issues, have been using Hammer and Spear to keep it interesting while soloing.

Healing in heavy armor is still possible there is a new perk added called blessed at 600 GS it give +28% to healing output, a light armor healer has to go all con, while heavy armor goes 150 into focus, the sacrifice is some HP for much more magical and physical defense, and tanking 101 damage reduction and physical and magical defense are superior over straight health stacking. Do the math, taking less damage is better than taking more damage.

Watched one video of you running this build, before you released this video, and simply picked up what you were doing in that video. I switched to the "Paladin" build and gave it a shot. Well, let's just say I was tanking groups of mobs that were 5-6 lvls above me with 6-8 mobs coming at the same time......I was able to clear them and walk away 3/4 health or better. I was also able to consistently solo an elite mob that was 3 lvls above me. This elite was challenging, and I did die a couple times when I had adds jump in, but when he was solo I could take him every time. Yes, this build works amazingly well......

The issue with Orb of Protection is straightforward - the dividing line on abilities that stick seems to be "things you cast on other objects" versus "things you cast on yourself". Shared Protection is a cast-on-self ability even though it triggers off healing an ally, while the base Orb of Protection is cast on allies or enemies (which then procs the Fortify on allies that are close by).

Hey, so this is for anyone planning to use this build. I've done a couple hours of testing now, and have found some things that seem to be misunderstood by the new world community. So this build relies on the amber gem as its main source of dmg scaling which is great however from what I've seen online most people don't understand how this gem actually works. So most people assume that the gem makes the x% of nature dmg scale with focus however this is not the case. The way it actually works is the x% only affects the weapons base dmg. For instance if you put a Cut Amber Gem (which has a 70/30 dmg split) on a 100 base dmg weapon it would do 70 slash dmg and 30 nature dmg then the scaling affect of the gem would cause the weapon to scale at a 42% rate (1 dmg per 3 points) off of focus this does not change based off level of gem(all dmg that is gained threw the scaling is added in the form of nature). So what this means is if you have a level 1 gem (cut flawed amber) and a max level gem (cut prismarine amber) you would not actually see any dmg increase even though it says that the max level gem is at a 50/50 ratio. So to save money and time just run the lower level gems since your dmg won't actually be affected if you use a higher level gem. Thumbs Up if this helped you out and leave and questions below. Ty and have fun.
@scapingby3 жыл бұрын
what's the benefit of going for a higher level gem then?

Example: In Monarch's Bluffs there is a level 17 quest named Friends in Fashion (available from Bercina Thornton). While the mobs you need to kill for this quest are indeed level 17, you can get this quest earlier (I did it at level 15 I think). The reward is an amulet called Monarch's Wish that gives +11 Constitution and gives a 5.5% boost to maximum health.

And I'm only arround lvl 30, with all CONS all the way to 120, and having the cleric seals on armors giving me 60 ish Focus withou having to spend any points there. 10/10 for this build. About the orb's missing buffs, I think that happens because you get passive buffs (if you upgrade all tree). That's my theory and my shameful English, sorry!

depends on how much he is healing in the fight. He can also use the gem to convert 50% of the sword damage to scale off of focus so its not like he will not be doing any damage also people dont realize that the life staff actually does pretty good damage from the light and heavy attacks that you can spam since they take no mana once you get skill tree passive for it.

I recently starting building this out I was just curious at what point do you consider late game to switch over from Cleric to Nomad? Also, do you run Full Heavy or Heavy Chest and Med/Light mix?
@Trepanation213 жыл бұрын
Probably start the switch around 50. Full Heavy will provide the most defense, unequivocally. HOWEVER! Medium Load provides Quick Hop, 10% more damage & healing, and 10% longer CC debuffs - (**Heavy Helmet/Chest, Medium Gloves/Boots, and Light Pants** is the optimal version of this, achieving 22.9LBs with the highest possible ELE/PHYS defense rating in Medium Load). So it's up to you whether you want that Heavy Tank thiccness, or a less durable but more utility Paladin. And try to get the perk BLESSED on your Life Staff, as it raises your Healing by ~20+%.

kinda bad logic ngl. There's a difference between "wow, i haven't found out how to beat this," and "yeah this is flat out the best build, period." Idk which one it is, only time will tell. (but heavy armor/heavy con builds are SUPER meta right now, so I'm leaning towards the latter.) Besides, even if you could fine tune design a build specifically to beat paladins, unless that build is equally effective against all opponents (and if it is, then that build needs a nerf,) the paladin build is still overtuned. 1 losing matchup against someone specifically geared to beat you doesn't mean it's fair.

For fast self-healing, just press CTRL+skill is much easier and faster than press the skill and after press the ctrl or aim yourself.

Does the same apply for damage attributes? For example to Build a GreatAxe+Healing Staff? Or a Rapier+Healing etc. or is the damage lost far more significant than the health which is been lost through this?
