I agree 100% homie. As producers, we put our heart & souls in our music, so f#cc giving away free beats. We are lowering our value by doing that. If an producer is true & passionate about his craft, he wouldn't do that. I hear u loud & clear bro. Thx 4 the advice & vids. Keep it one hunnit!!!

I agree with you 100%, especially on how touchy and small minded this market is. Both artists and beat makers. Unfortunately we live in a time where 9 out of 10 kids will message "yo how much?" with absolutely 0 INTENT to pay for the beat, or more than $10... the Slim Jesus comment just confirmed the mindframe of these young guys. Besides everyone in the 'leasing market' is using the same formula.. hats off to those who are successful, it's not for everybody.

Producers need to stop worrying about what the fuck others producers do so much. If you have a fire fucking beat, someone will pay for it. Stay in your own lane and produce quality shit, most free beats I hear have no progression and it's the same loop throughout with room for a chorus, meanwhile there's guys making quality beats and charging $50 for it rightfully. It seems like only the trash sub-par producers worry about that shit.

I agree with everything said in this video. If you look at anything being sold in any brick-and-mortar store, nothing marked in the store as "free" is ever TRULY free. There's some kind of transaction happening for you to get it. So if they don't want to come up off of money for your work, get an email, a lead, favor, hell if you're that cut-throat ask for a larger share. Anything stated in this video that can be of benefit to you! I am an artist and a beatmaker/producer myself and I couldn't bring myself to ask for anything for free. Maybe that's because I understand the producer's plight. But what many artists don't understand, as well as producers, is the power producers actually have.... But we live in an era will people will pay out the wazoo just to look the part instead of making the right investment in themselves to BE the part, yet undermine the skill it took to make that work of art...But then again it's easy for their mouth to criticize what their hands did not create... ..........and if you think overpaying = $150 for a beat, boy you have NO idea what you're about to get into!

I understood the fb post you made, and I started modeling my business towards this philosophy last year. Sadly, i've been doing things for "exposure" for 3 years, and when I felt like I was going insane, because it went no where, i stopped and all of my "artists that loved my beats" left once I started asking for money for my beats. They are all mostly working with free beat producers for exposure. Thanks bro "Stick to your guns"

+JahBeySystems We've all gone through it. My hope is that if we hold each other to higher standards and break the beats-for-nothing paradigm, that the next generation of producers won't have to go through what we did.

As a matter-of-fact, Anno Domini wanted to charge me $80k for a verse from Wiz Khalifa. He's making all of his money back from beats he gives away for free, in my humble opinion.

Granted, he offered a prerecorded verse as well, but $5k is still high given the market.

It's a shame how people are so quick to post negative BS comments opposed to positive ones. If they don't like what they hear or see they should move on especially if it's not directed at them personally which it's usually not. Anyway, I appreciate your point of view on these topics DJ Pain 1 & the time you invest to record & post for our knowledge & entertainment. Keep up the good work homie.
@gameplay_tv8357 жыл бұрын
DJ Pain, I agree with you 100%. The value of producers have been greatly diminished. However, our craft and talent is worth so much more; and that is exactly why I do not give away free beats. I will never sell myself short because people will take advantage of you if you allow them to do so. In fact, an alternative to giving away free beats is to lease your beats in a way that permits you to retain your exclusive rights by contract. This method of selling beats is very effective; and if the person whom you are negotiating with is still reluctant to purchase or lease the beat, then he apparently doesn't take his so-called career as an artist serious because any serious artist would be willing to invest in his own career. Note: If any producer does decide to give away a free beat, they should still do it on a contractual basis. Retain your exclusive rights!

I agree 100%. Free beats are good now and again for people to talk about where to get free beats, get more clicks to your page(s) that in turn generating more of a buzz. I only started selling my beats about 2 months ago, and my price is £25 for a beat, but that is just me starting out so to speak, i found that hard at the start about what price should i sell my beats, but over time it comes naturally, tho i do feel sometimes i am undervaluing myself if anything comes of the beats i've sold, and my names is nowhere to be seen in the credits, or an old case of "i forgot" Gradually i will build on THAT price till i find the ideal range for my viewers, tho it is hard to find that range of what is too much and too little.. But i get that a lot about free beats, or most of the time people feel the need to tell me where their from to get a beat for free, like "hey i'm from Spain...free beat?" nah bro chill, i gotta get something from you at bare minimum.

@DJPain19 жыл бұрын
+Jack Spade I first sold beats, not on the internet but in person, for that price, so I can't really hate on it... but I think producers need better income streams. If you're not at the Vybe level, those 20 dollar beats aren't gonna pay your bills.

I have been trying to tell my fellow producers the same thing. everybody pays for something at the end of the day. When you spend time making a song bruh time is money. Dont be fooled that same dude that won't give you a dime for your music will pay for something clothes, cigerettes, drank etc. Its on you to decide your worth. In my city nobody likes to pay for beats but you want one from me..you paying something.
@hartfantom8 жыл бұрын
They kinda do benefit from it on a sense of who uses the beat. For instance, If I take a free beat. Make a song with it and it blows up. Dude that produced the free beat can be like. Do you think you can give me a quick tweet or shout out saying I produced that beat. It'd help a lot. Ya, that really can go along way ,but there has to be communication
@DJPain18 жыл бұрын
Bro, stop it, number 1, it's a one in 5 million shot that your song is going to "blow up." Number 2, if your song blows up and all you think you owe the producer is a twitter shout-out, I hope you get sued.

Then at the very least that person could do is get people to check out his beats
