You're right, mechanics at dealers don't have to deal with the customers, but you need people skills to be a mobile mechanic.
@afellowinnewengland61424 ай бұрын
I'm a retired technician, I didn't think the car was too bad. Just an old vehicle with old vehicle problems. My only feedback is I don't see why you're messing with A/C compressor replacements until you've tested the entire system for leaks and damage under full charge. No point spending the time and money replacing a compressor if you've got bigger problems. Honestly, if they're hard up for money just replace the brake cylinders, front pads and rotors and front end hardware. Just safety stuff and leave the A/C alone. Probably would get them a fresh oil change, plugs and air filter too for insurance if it hasn't been done recently. You know that thing didn't see any maintenance and it's super easy to work on.
@jeepsblackpowderandlights43054 ай бұрын
Thank you. You and I seem to be the only one wjo noticed this. This guy is a lying pile of crap. (Looking) at the compressor and going. Its old so it needs replaced is a crock of sht. Adding refrigerant to it clearly got it running again which shiws it was low thats why it didnt come on. But short cycle. He probably didnt add the whole can. The system clearly has a leak. And hes trying ti sell them something they dont need to do

Everyone knows mechanics when the mechanic shows up 😂
@bleyz35575 ай бұрын
Cuz most of the time mechanics are just parts changers. They are just waiting to tell them what to do, what to replace, they do it, don't fix the problem but carry on. If you need an inspection, diagnosis to check whats wrong, most of them will be yeah i looked around and i found this (which would be what your car needs) or will just do basic things like oh your engine idling poorly, let me change those brake rotors for you.

Cuz evictions we’re not allowed during Covid) But I bought a car that ran perfect and 3 month later every single little thing broke and it all piled up!! Which when you wait your adding to the repair bill. (Especially if one thing is linked or connected to another eventually that will go too) What I did was wrote down a list of everything and strategized… bar links, and I also needed brakes But they wanted $ 800 to do it all…I would say listen your taking the tire off and rotor and pads anyways to do the 👍&👎 sway bar links so you can do brakes and everything as 1 job! I switched garages now I get charged 1 jobs labor hours like a link job. And they put on new rotors and pads and it’s done.

Be careful with that. My mom just recently went to a T dealership, and they told her she needed new front brakes and her rotors were bad, she also need a cabin air filter (which they had just changed 5k miles earlier). The quoted price for front a front brake/rotor job was $564. She was having an oil change done, so I told her just have the oil change done and we will have it looked at by a different local mechanic. I ended up buying Akebono brake pads for her, and took it to the mechanic. He checked and said the rotors were completely fine. Ended up doing the front brake job for $150 and they are working perfectly. The lesson is, dealerships are sheisty and way overpriced. Not to mention they will definitely try to rake you over the coals for stuff you don’t even need.
@jeepsblackpowderandlights43054 ай бұрын
Why ? He lied about the a.c compressor. Looks at it says its old so it needs replaced. Then adds a little refirgerant and it comes back on. Tjats a sign of low refrigerant and is commong for all older cars. It means there is a leak in the system the compressor is fine
