i absolutely adore how warm the colours are, i've never seen much appeal in the super bright/pale or "let's just make everything white to look ~minimalist~" approach to interior design, something like this is much more appealing to me, and shows that you can include more depth of colours without it looking dark/dreary. there's something about the kitchen corridor that reminds me of a houseboat, like a really luxurious dutch barge maybe. the little methods of separating the space into more distinct areas work really well here, i love it.

You can have dark colors without losing light, but that's not the case here. Notice that all the light in the apartment was turned on during the whole video, because otherwise it would have been too dark. The wood reflects very little light, so it's a matter of balance. I think the apartment looks great, but he should have made the floor completely white and alternatively put up reflecting materials on the walls facing towards the window. Wood also looks the best when natural light shines on it and you can see the contrasting wood grains.

I am all about that wooden mid-century aesthetic. Love the decision to maximise space by splitting the bathroom, the open shower with yellow tiles 🤌, and the fact that the extended terrace is the jewel of the apartment for him. I can totally see that. It's his living room. Love it! Probably one of my favourites on the channel. I never comment, but felt like it deserved more than a mere "like".

I love the warm tones across the apartment! The lighting in the kitchen and closet are my favorites. The lights work great with the matte golden backsplash in the kitchen. I also appreciate the owner's creativity with things like the toilet curtain and customizations to Ikea furniture. And the terrace is beautiful! The one thing I'd want to change is the empty white wall. A projector screen could give it a brighter, clearer image while also letting you put artwork on the wall. And I'd love for the projector to be enclosed in a wooden enclosure to match the rest of the apartment - but as a DIY enthusiast I know that's harder than it looks!

Now we're talking! We're back on track :) I appreciate Jacobo's eclectic taste in Mid-Century Modern Furniture. Whether made of solid wood, veneer or plywood, the darker hues and earth-tones enrich the space; bringing a sense of elegance into his home. All of the other materials, such as the sun-soaked bathroom tiles and the stainless steel kitchen counter, compliment each other very well. My only changes (if this were my apartment :) would be to the bed and to the shower. In such a small space, that bed takes up SO much valuable real estate. I may have incorporated a Murphy Bed system that has additional storage into the mix. And for the shower, even though he has a beautiful terrace entrance that could be opened, I'd be concerned that any moisture or humidity generated from showering would damage cabinetry and other valuable objects. So having a way to properly ventilate or section off that space may serve the apartment well over the longterm.
@natashafigueroa9198

I concur completely. As a dancer, I would have a Murphy bed too. And I was also worried about the moisture, but perhaps there was some good ventilation system that was not shown.

My thoughts are the same. I would install a Murphy bed. And maybe a bifold or sliding door to close off the shower area?
@lizsays3324
@lizsays3324 2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the sliding glass door right next to the bed and the large vent above the kitchen/living separation are enough cross ventilation. Also if he's diligent about wiping down that shower after he uses it. And for me, Murphy beds are inconvenient and uncomfortable. I'll give up space for a real bed.

I love this apartment and this tour. Thank you NTS. What I'd change: 1. The owner has a toilet and small sink. I would convert the toilet in the WC to a toilet tank sink (a toilet sink combo). Preserves space, saves water, and allows for a larger sink surface area; but that’s their personal preference. Make that the sole hygiene sink. Add a better mirror inside and good lighting in there. Keep the beautiful tile in the shower and vanity, maybe build it out 20cm for more privacy, but in place of a sink out in the main area's vanity put a sit/stand desk in a mid-century wood. Add a MCM rolling shutter to close off the workspace when not in use. 2. I also liked a suggestion below to add a hidden projector screen whose cover matches the wood tones of the apartment. :) Something about this video gives me hope for our future of living small. Bringing history, style, and comfort into a place for one. I often think about whether we should live alone as cities become more compact, or whether it is our responsibility to share our space and resources. I too live alone in a crowded city. I appreciate this man's beautiful work. 😍
