It's a very helpful video for people who live in rental units and can't remove walls or hang things on the walls. They wouldn't be able to install the attic storage or the hanging storage units, but the wall mounted cabinet under the tv could be built with legs, and the bed with storage underneath could be done as long as it wasn't attached to the floor or walls. All the new storage units would be fine as free standing pieces. There aren't enough videos on the channel that deal with rental units, and I wish they'd showcase more.

The interior designers chose to keep the original floor plan - a decision that I agree with. The original floor plan was good enough, and there is no need for dramatic alterations such as dismantling a wall. One upside I noticed about the original floor plan was that there is unobstructed passage from the entrance to the balcony - you don't need to go around anything like a kitchen counter or wall. Such unobstructed passage from the entrance to that balcony allows natural light to fill the entire room once the curtains are open. The good thing is that the interior designers purchased the place. Though the original floor plan was kept intact, ownership of the place gave them the freedom to fit the apartment to their comfort and liking, such as installing extra cabinets - both the wall-length ones and the mounted ones. Great content! 👍

This is a wonderful home. Living there must feel like living in a little nutshell. I mean this in the most respectful way. The wood is dark and rich which gives it a sturdy shell and makes it feel secure while still being warm. It's compressed but every tiny corner is used to its full potential. In Hong Kong's low income homes, this space could live a family more than 6 members! My husband's childhood home was much smaller than this space (basically a square with no internal walls), and they were able to live there over 20 years as a family of 6, with multiple bunkbeds, fordable chairs, table and so on. Definitely not as nicely designed, but at least a place to live comfortably and didn't need to share bathrooms with neighbours.
@KarMa-ws3ll5 ай бұрын
@@Omgiamsotriggered I lived in this size with my partner for years. It was nice but I would have loved it even more with 2 separate rooms as shown here. But I would hate all these dark buildins. They are suffocating, the color does not really go well with the existing kitchen etc, and in the bedroom i would probably bump into the furniture every single time I need to go to the bathroom. I mean, the pullout kitchen table makes the owner look like a child, he cannot even sit there comfortable due to its heigth. Without all the added "desinnged"elements though, I could see myself living there.On the other hand I really dont want to know the prize. "Boutique building" probably means: extreme high price. And in that case, i prefer any old boy which I can make my own to this.

@@KarMa-ws3ll Just because something can be made "livable" doesnt mean its a good way to live. Literal farm animals live in better and bigger spaces. Just because u have a partner doesnt mean u need to spend 24/7 time with him/her and in places like these u have no self-privacy at all. I live in a 70m2 apartment by myself and even I sometimes find the space small because due to lack of storage. Would love to have a separate storage room or something like a garage. As a HK guy, IMO the main issue the interior desgin from HK always focus on storage. So end up cabinets everywhere, make the space even more depressed surrounded by all these wooden boxes. The very popular platform storage in bedroom even make it worse. Another thing is this designer decided to keep some of the existing wooden fixture like the door or the floor that totally not matching their walnut theme. This make the space feel too busy will all these different pattern and color of wood element. Is good to see the designer try to fully untilize the space but come on, for me I really don't want to eat just next to a shoe cabinet 😅

Depends on one's lifestyle I guess but the whole apartment feels like a storage room with storage on the walls, the ceiling and under the bed. If it was my apartment I would open up the space and take down the wall between the living and bedroom. The 3 meters ceiling height allows for a mezzanine for sleeping and I would have a big open living, kitchen, study and dining as one space. Too much storage means too much stuff 80% of which you probably don't need. That's just me. 😊

3:48 : while clever, it really does not look comfortable - either the desk is too high or the chair to low. Love the 2 different rooms ,that is so important, when you are not living alone! Very nice! liveded in 23 sqm and 19 sqm apartment with my partner for years. Also during the pandemic (working from home).The 19 sqm was a very modern Microapartment, that had lots of storage and clever solutions like folding desk, builtins over the desk etc. What I can say after living in both of them for years: I preferred the old-style Apartment with out design and no buildins.. After a while in the microappartment, I just hated that there was zero flexibility in changing the layout. And i did not need all the tiny compartments. I rather pair down my stuff then having a tiny space filled with buildins which I hav to navigate.

Glad they showcase another unit in Hong Kong. I always wanted to see how they would design their space in such a small unit, especially in a densely populated area. A little disappointed as they keep the existing built-in joinery, if not they can design to fully utilise the space for their lifestyle, but good as they do not want to waste the materials built there. The furniture selection is important; they use Muji sofas due to their smaller build which is very wise. Hope to see more projects from densely populated areas in the future.
