Since when is 60 sqm apartment considered small in Europe? It's an absolutely comfortable size for 2 people.
@loukiab27772 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Most people the same age as the designers are lucky of they have a 20m2 apartment. 60m2 in Paris can NOT be considered small in any shape or form. The channel is evolving into Never Too Luxurious...
@lepatientzero96372 ай бұрын
thank you! For one it's huge!
@vmoses19792 ай бұрын
It's small in the absolute sense of the word - as in the opposite of big. Nobody would refer to their 600 square foot apartment as large or spacious. Don't nitpick people. And with a 20 square meter apartment there is little scope for layout and design possibilities thus there are not often shown.
@loukiab27772 ай бұрын
@@vmoses1979 Taking into account geographic and economic context is not nitpicking. And the point of the channel is to show people that small spaces can be beautiful and functional. If you have every possibility of layout with your 60 sqm/1 person apartment, then there is no need for smart design, you can do whatever.
@vmoses19792 ай бұрын
@@loukiab2777 The majority of the spaces on this channel are from 400 square feet to 700 square feet. Have you always commented that these are not small spaces? I doubt it. Given this is an English language channel and there are a lot of viewers from North America - it clearly doesn't only cater to the smallish living spaces of Europeans.

I especially loved the commentary on how the city is noisy and chaotic and the idea to create a space to offer a respite from that. This is so important for people who are HSP's or have sensory processing concerns. The built space really impacts mental health. I also appreciate all of the attention to the transitions within the apartment; the rounded tables, the seamless cabinetry. It all feels very fluid. All of the details were so thoughtfully rendered (handles on the cabinets for example); there is enough texture and visual interest without being overwhelming. I love the skylight in the shower, especially because here in the US most apartment bathrooms/showers are so dark in an unsafe way. The apartment is so warm, inviting and cosy. Brilliant.

Credit to 23year olds working with and mirroring existing elements, refurbishing, repurposing, making and designing items and materials. Great to see. I do agree though, I felt this channel, which I’ve followed for years, originally focussed on genuinely small spaces which are lived in full time, in the context of a worldwide housing crisis. (I understand, one lived in it initially and is now rented out). We can all design beautiful minimal spaces to rent. This is not to discredit the beautiful work of these two designers. Maybe NTS can think about who their followers are.
