when you were having a hard time to get to the house where you landed, I was thinking, why didn't he take the Phantom controller with him, it has enough battery left to fly it off the roof and over to wherever you are standing! I don't know if I'm right or not, but like you saw, it was still turned on when you got there... so maybe. Love your vids. I sub up now.

Yeah, I didn't even try because I thought the battery would be empty anyways. I was surprised to find it still on.

That's just what I was thinking. It had 21 % battery when it landed and lost radio contact. It would have been able to take off (perhaps with a couple of "Are you QUITE sure, the battery is bloody low" messages). Naturally the machine stayed on, it was awaiting the word of command like a good little Red Army soldier! So all he needed to do was get in both radio and flying range and fly it back to his new position overlooking the landing site. Leaving the zoom camera on was genius!

That was an interesting test and adventure! The only thing you forgot was to carry along a fully charged battery and when you got to the quad, relaunch the quad with the battery and send it home. :-D I would suppose it would hold the old compass setting? Anyway, it would save from cracking up the quad or falling, and from having a accident climbing around the rough terrain. Real nice scenery and interesting test, thanks for your video!

@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
I bought the antenna because I got a bad signal at 450 meters flying in a park. But now I know this was because there were like 4 layers of trees in between. Obstacles block the signal. Same with the better antenna. It depends on what type of flying you want to do. You can buy a Phantom here directly from DJI with a discount: click.dji.com/AIK_3nSwENS-aP6XymE?pm=link

What would happen if you were to fly it to the building, land it, and shut the drone down. Will it start up from that distance to fly it back? I would like to see that.
@NeverMindYourOwn7 жыл бұрын
After shutting down the drone, you cannot turn it on from a distance. What you can do is to leave it on, get closer and see if you can connect to it again and launch it.

so I'd like to see if its possible to set another homepoint (say on the closer roof) by landing on the way out there then you could retrieve it after it loses signal from there. would be like emergency airfield.
@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
Yes, the only thing is that I lost signal after landing and didn't get it back. That might happen and an earlier roof too. But I found out, it's not even necessary to land. You can just hover about a landing point and then set that as a new homepoint in the menu.
@gazo9108 жыл бұрын

Excellent video my friend. Great test of the Phantom logic. I wonder if you would have landed on the building then took back off then purposely lost signal with low battery if it would have tried to come home or land on the building. I think it considers home to be wherever it took off from last. Would be interesting to test this theory
@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
It would have landed on the building again, because it records the home point when taking off. But after landing I lost the signal, because the side of the roof blocked the view/LOS. So I could not have taken off anyways.

So when flying under a bridge it's best to put in on 'hover'? I like your spirit, subscribed!
@NeverMindYourOwn7 жыл бұрын
Totally depends on the situation and your position. But when you think you may loose signal UNDER an object, for sure you do not want it to ascend! If I had to fly under a bridge, I'd position myself in such a way that I have LOS before, under and behind the bridge. Maybe when I go up and the bridge may come in between, I might lose signal, but then it would ascend and fly back OVER the bridge. See this video where I actually do fly under a bridge: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooarXqBqe7tjm9k

Well, the one at the beach with the fishing boats... it's at some 40 meters when I put on the goggles, so that seems to be a good altitude.

@jjeei8 жыл бұрын
Hi, good video !!! I have one question for you. If Phantom 4 lose the signal. Should it return to home ?
@NeverMindYourOwn8 жыл бұрын
The safest option is to set it to Return To Home. If you have also set the Smart RTH option on, it will even avoid obstacles when it returns. The most important thing is that when it tries to RTH, at some point you will get the signal back and then you can cancel the procedure and keep doing what you wanted to do. If you lose signal and you told it to hoover, you may never get the signal back if you are not in a position to move around to get a good line of sight again. Then it will run out of battery at some point and automatically land just where it is. In most cases that is not desirable. Only in special rare cases like mine, where I want it to fly from A to B and not return, you may want to set it differently.

Normally, I look at the table of contents through and read the sections I will use the information from. If I doubt later, I will read it in the manual.
