I became a Hyundai loyalist because of this car and its reliability. And we are talking about a 2000 Elantra that I bought from a friend in 2004. When I bought it the car had 67,000 miles on it. The reason I got it was because my car that I bought brand new ( Chrysler Sebring) kept landing in the shop. I needed a vehicle to get back and fourth to work as I had a 41 mile drive to and from. Anyways that Elantra was fantastic. It just kept going and going. When I bought the car I sunk around 1,200 dollars into it getting tired and a complete tune up. After that the ONLY things I've ever had done was routine maintenance. I still had that car in 2014 which then had 164,000 miles on it. I didn't want to, but gave the car to my brother who was in need. That Sebring was shot at around 40 000 miles, spent more time in a garage than on the road. Ask people who OWN a Elantra, not people who own its rival. I have owned Hyundai ever since, and loved everyone that I had. Currently have a 2015 Hyundai Genesis sedan that I been trading in for 2 years. Now I can't seem to let go of this car beings I love it so much.

Didn't take long to go past 150K subscribers. The hard work and ingenuity is paying off. Congratulations. What a good thing that people have many good choices in the reasonably priced segment. The styling of the new Elantra is not totally disassociated form the previous generation. The lines have been exaggerated and stretched. In terms of reliability of Hyundais, one answer: 10 year warranty here in the US (less in other places, but still longer than most).

As long as they have their phones and gaming consoles they're happy. The two of them both waited until they were in their early 20s to finally get their driver's license. Also ONLY HATERS would ask such a stupid question about Hyundai/kia/Genesis changing there vehicles look so often. That question came from a Honda/Toyota/Mazda fanboy. We Hyundai fans LOVE that they do it. When we buy a new Hyundai/kia, we are thankful it dosen't look the same as the person's car who bought theirs 8 years earlier. Who DOSEN'T LIKE IT, is Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Chevy and there loyalists. That because they keep getting the same old look. And the Manufacturer's hate it, because Hyundai keeps forcing them to all make changes in order to keep up. What you should be saying if you're a fanboy of one of those others, is THANK YOU HYUNDAI. Because of you my Camry or Accord no longer looks like a old peoples vehicle. Thank you Hyundai for forcing my brand to copy off you and give us some of those safety features in the cheaper trims. Thanks Hyundai for making your mainstream vehicles feel and look so much more luxurious, and now forcing my brand to COPY.

I love the value that Hyundai offers. In this car in particular, I love the use of the fabric. In fact, I wish more manufacturers would offer an all fabric option on their highest trims. However, I am not a fan of digital gauge clusters, or, in this case, the overall futuristic design that Hyundai has adopted. My pick in this segment is the Mazda 3 sedan. It is such a beautiful car, inside and out. That’s why last year we traded our 2018 Elantra for a 2020 Mazda 3. There was nothing wrong with the Elantra, but we wanted something that looked and felt better.

After comparing the interior room between a corolla hatchback and the elantra, I decided to get the elantra as a daily runner. And my truck is starting to show it's age. The price for these types of cars hasn't changed that much since the last compact I owned (2002 cavalier). There is only a $3000 difference between the two of them (I still have the window sticker of the old cavalier as it was my first new car I bought). Now if only the price of pickup trucks changed that much over 19 years, but nooooo their prices jumped $10000-$15000 over 9 years. And thanks for your input on the elantra, it helped give me some good insight into the new elantra's. The elantra model I got is the base with the 6 speed manual. Cheers from NB.

If you like GenX Civic, worth waiting for Gen11. If they bring back 6MT and K-series engine, the party continues! Hyundai design theme for their SUV/CUV line-up is spot-on, better then the premium brands. Kona EV had fire issues for 2020, but they're back to selling it for 2021. I also own a GenX Civic Sedan with base engine and it's a completely different animal compared to CVT version...you can actually take it to the race track and get the occasional BRZ/GT86 to let you pass.

I bought Jetta but tried Nissan Qashqai for few days. I can understand why SUV have certain appeal. If you are single, then hatchback is the way. If you want practicality, then SUV is the way to go especially when you have kids. That is why I was impressed with Tiguan and it's rear leg room, headroom and cargo capacity. Even VW Taos, presumed to be bigger than compact but less bigger than Tiguan long-wheel base, is only 0.8 inches apart on rear leg room. Cargo capacity is bit compromised but the headroom is amazing and so roomy compared to my Jetta. Plan to upgrade my Jetta into SUV soon. Practicality wise, SUV trumps sedan and fun-factor, it is hatchback like Golf. Personality I would go with gti if you are single. So that singles out sedan; however, as long as USA exists will remain superior over hatchback.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay is only available on the base 8inch system. Not on the upgrade 2700$ tech package 🙄

Just one correction, the Hyundai has an IVT, not CVT, which is considered better.
@Motormouth...2 жыл бұрын
That's called marketing. Same basic thing as a CVT.

@@Motormouth... well it uses a chain instead. As well, it mimics a standard making the ride smoother.
@Motormouth...2 жыл бұрын
@@bergeandtom Most mimic a shift point, nothing new there. The chain is not used often but other brands have that too. It's a CVT with a marketing name. Why? Because people dislike CVT so change the name, that will fool some...

Can someone tell me how good is the ground clearance for the Elantra ?

With my winter tires on, it sits at about 7 inches at the front bumper.

Congrats guys, lovely review. Thanks Koreans, wireless Andriod and apple will b standard for all in the next couple of years. I find this over styled, don't like the rear and that grab handle and their new steering wheels. On the defense, looking different is a good thing.

A smart shopper will wait a bit, till the next civic comes out, then get a gen x civic at a reduced price big time. If u don't need to show off you've got the latest and greatest.

I bought a 2018 Elantra and there's been two revisions since then, each one looking less sporty in my view. I think Mazda 3 is best in class.

Wait till Canadians watch yesterday's CBC Marketplace episode. Will they still want a Hyundai?

I own a 2015 Elantra GT. I got it used 5 years ago when it had 46,000km on it. I have 93,000km on it now. I only had a couple of small warranty issues with it and replaced the battery in December (minor). I know of a person who had a 2010 Elantra who drives 80km to work and goes back to his town. He had 400,000km on his car before getting a new Elantra Sport 2 years ago. Like most auto manufactures, some vehicles have problems hence all the recalls. Auto manufactures have been getting increasingly sloppy. They are building them too fast. I would be a bit weary getting a 2021 of any make as most of the auto plants were shut down for a while because of covid. Dealerships are still waiting for new stock to come arrive.

Hey, I love your reports and Andrea is so elegant. Funny that this car is Car of the year in North America. In Western Europe small and compact sedans even do not exist. ( except a bit in Spain and NL). The market is on hatches and even them are declining and declining while SUV's are rocketing. Bises depuis Paris.
