Hi Lord Muck, thanks for putting this together. I’m a retired Plant Mechanic of many years and I like your question on making a short film and producing the content, how about the people?, the plant machinery game wasn’t just about the kit and the day to day working it was about the men, the skills, the perseverance and I suppose comparing us all to the old pioneers, so, round a few of us up and get us operating some plant and get us swapping experiences again and mix us in with the new guys as well and just see how we all get on and how it makes a good film for everyone interested in machinery and your channel. Thx for your time.

That's great to see him getting back in the controls I used to love watching my grandfather man handle the dozer up on steep hills he would stop on the slope and the machine would slide sideways and then he drop her in gear and climb right back up and send it. He fought in ww2 as tank driver and had nerves of steel great man the older generation had something this next generation will never get.

Nice, enjoyed the video. Great to see old school operators. The video made me think. A video where you put the latest drivers on old school, as in pre war kit and then reverse that with the oldest driver on new kit. Love the content 👍

"It's as if he's done that before" must be the best one liner yet. Well done Doug for giving us a demonstration of how it's done, hope I'm still able to get in any cab at 80 and make go of it! Thanks LM for showing a bit of British clag and thrash from the Napier engine of 55019 Royal Highland Fusilier, much appreciated. Now, if I was a creative director of an episode my choice would be a video of how tipper trucks have developed from the days of Kew Dodges as in the film Hell Drivers to todays big boys toys.

I would like to see a feature on the operators of years gone by, It was fantastic to see the joy on Dougs face when he was in that 210, his sprit was lifted. It would be great to see more of that, some retired guys reunited with the machines they used to run, maybe the gear they learned on, and to hear a few yarns from days gone by. If not that maybe something with a propeller for something different.

Some of them ole boys were purely magical to witness their abilities in equipment that was a PIA to operate just on flat surfaces. Think about the ones that had four times the levers, and pedals to do what is done with one joy stick nowadays. Plus they had the noise, heat, vibration, and a quarter of the pay to boot! Purely magical is only way I know how to explain it to those that never had the honor to witness it first hand. Thanks Your Lord Muckster, those last two were a treat, and brought back memories lost in the old fog bank of different men, and they're machines across the pond and half a continent away

Absolutely amazing to see Mr. Potter at nearly 80 working the hyundai's as smooth as that, even the 210 with all those years of experience. Just a joy to watch! And great to see you got him some nice gifts as a thank you. Lord muck episode: taking a new tractor with trailer to go and do a Will it start on An old digger/dozer/tractor, use some new tools willst trying to get the machine going. Then take said machine back on the trailer to test the new tractor. Just a brainfart.... All the best M'lod! Cheers, Mike

Great work. I worked on a farm as a lad & learnt to drive tractors, then I did some work in forestry & used Fordson Majors, one had a winch fitted & had a 6 cylinder engine. That was over 50 years ago but I still love old tractors & see many Massey Ferguson's in use since I retired here on the Maltese islands 7 years ago. I am so pleased that I discovered your show.

Another great video, haven't seen Doug in action since I went to college at bircham newton and we went to SED for the day. What a true legend he is
@TheGingerGenius782 жыл бұрын
It’s great to see Doug back in the seat ! Just like the days at SED or the Doe Show when I first saw him operate and as a group of students back in late 90s we would watch his demos with words like how the duck and such as he slews round on the side slopes etc ! Thank you for putting in the time and effort to make this happen and to all those that came together to help you do it really nice to see ! As for an episode of LM well it would be great to see a big will it start something like a haul truck or big old excavator or dragline or such :) the tractor and vehicle will it starts are really good but the challenge of something larger would be great! I’m sure we could find something to fit the bill lurking in East Anglia ! 😉😉

What a legend Doug is!!! Just goes to show you never lose it. Great to see. Now. I’d love to see a top gear style video, you, Saunders and Deano all turning up to a field with a tractor of your choice and putting them to work against each other. Ploughing, cultivating, pulling a full trailer, racing around an obstacle course. That would be amazing. Let’s get it done. 👍🏼
@jorgefernandez-mv8hu2 жыл бұрын
That was a nice thing you did for Mr. Potter. My idea is for a Rodeo of equipment where you can get some equipment doing a certain number of tasks skillfully and you can get some of the older guys to judge who is the best at it. The winner can then get a prize and some bragging rights. This could be a family affair where they can enjoy the day and see what dad does for a living. I went to one for truck driving where the drivers had to precisely maneuver around obstacles. The drivers families and locals went and there was food and drink as well as the people cheering for the drivers. Great fun for all and proceeds can go to the winners favorite charity.

Great to see Doug in action and enjoying himself… if I was directing the Chanel for a day, I think I’d choose something like a day at the National Ploughing Championships maybe? First off, what a pleasure to see Doug hop into those excavators. A true master and a gentleman. If I had creative license to choose the subject for a LM episode, it would definitely focus on British bombers and fighters of WWII. The storytellers from that time are almost all gone, and it is important for present and future generations to understand how air power played a critical role in the Allies winning the war.

Just watching this older video brought back memories. We had various newish Hitachi 360's but the machine that was left on topsoil piles for all to jump in and load themselves was a 210 Komatsu. Lovely bit of kit. Beautiful to operate, quick hitch, no f**king adblue pumps to go wrong etc, etc. Hitachi were the site machines that got traded in as and when. Sounds tragic? But when that old Komatsu eventually went. It was like losing a mate!! Trouble with getting old I suppose. lol.

Poetry in motion there is mountains of talent about us that nobody sees plough men, bobcat drivers etc . It’s great to see. Thank you. Creative idea the development of the plough from single furrow walk behind to multi furrow guided prestressed beam because we might be seeing the demise of it like we did in the early 80s when direct drilling was the answer remember the betterson 3D tive slit cutler and mf 300 drills. We have been down this road before but power and size is against the plough today.

Yet another really great question Mucker. I think I'd really like to produce a show where you come to mine and fix my 1940's twin Cylinder Ruston and Hornsby diesel generator set. The poor old thing has sat for far too long under a tarp awaiting the love it deserves. Its a lovely old piece of kit with two massive flywheels and a 25KVA generator which just need bolting back onto their cast iron base and fettling back into life. I'm sure that it would make a great episode which all my fellow Muckers would enjoy. Here's hoping 🤞Do well Mucker!

Fantastic video all round with high-quality content. I don't have much experience with Hyundai but in the JCB world, I would say that the 3cx model built in the early 90's grey cab model was way better than the models today and I have used all of them over the years. Also in 2003, I got a new JS220LC and that model was the best I have used and recently I have used Volvo, Cat and Hitachi 20ton machines and these are definitely not as good as the js220 from 2003. So my point is that not all machines are improving as time goes by.

Good morning your Lordship. Been thinking about your “question”. What about getting Simon Slingsby to do a feature on the class 55 Delta. There are so many of us that are not really sure of how this Delta engine and transmission works. I’m sure that there is a private line, club, organisation somewhere that would welcome the idea of doing a video on this engine, good publicity for them ! What do you think.? All the best, you do it well Clifford.
@daveadams41282 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed that, almost as much as Doug did ! Lots of people have an interest in different forms of kit - myself, its' the big 6 cylinder fords from back in the day.but the only exposure to them is either over the hedge,Tractor magazines or yours & Georges channel. The only way to 'have a go on one' is to buy one, but its one thing buying a Ford 3000 to have a go on but there's no chance to actually have a drive on any of the larger kit. If only someone would give people the opportunity to experience these machines & maybe the modern variant that would be epic. ATB Dave

Great to see someone having fun with a digger 👍 if I was creative director for an episode I’d love to see something about crawlers from the early ones to the modern rubber tracked ones. Their good and bad points how you get the best from them and where they really excel at. We had a lad come with a D5 with a blade once and dig a dirty water pond He did the majority of the work with the dozer and they just used a 360 to finish off it was fascinating to see it working in the hands of such a skilled operator. Livestock farming means I’m highly unlikely to get an opportunity to see much of these machines and that’s the beauty of your channel such a wide variety so probably at some point something like this will just turn up 😊😉 and until then I’ll keep watching and having fun. Great channel thoroughly enjoying all the content. Keep having fun 👍

My first thought on making an episode for this channel was a "will it start" as I have a few tractors a digger and a Drott which are well past their best. However this has been covered before so what about a marine theme? I have spent the winter re-fitting my ex-commercial fishing boat which has been ashore for 10 years since I retired. It is powered by a Cummins 6CTA 430 hp engine (last with a "proper" mechanical pump, not a common rail in sight) and needs possibly another 4-6 weeks to finish. I know LM is fairly close to me so what a about a trip to see the seals in our local harbour and weather permitting a run out to the wind farms to see just how big an offshore turbine looks close up?
