Yep - it's real!!!! Ego has updated the multi-head system in a substantial way!
New for 2023 Ego just released a brand new carbon fiber power head (PH1420) and a new combo string trimmer with POWERLOAD (mst1603). Got to admit I did not see that coming :)
So in this video I test and review both of these products. The good news is that EGO has not abandoned older attachments, as the new Power Head model is capable of connecting to them as well. These include the new snow shovel, bristle brush, edger, hedger, tiller, and pole saw to name a few.
I feel like this is a huge step forward towards the Power Head becoming a centerpiece of the EGO line up now that it supports one of the biggest industry changing features - the power load that automatically loads string. Hallelujah!
This is an EGO must have - save your beans and head to Lowes :)

I almost bought an ego last year to replace my nearly worn out 2 stroke trimmer. I liked the power load but I wanted the ability to get different attachments. Good thing I stuck out the end of last season with the old trimmer, can’t wait to get this.

How is the vibration? I love the zero vibration of the non-multi head unit, as the motor is in the head. The Milwaukee quik-lok is just a vibration monster. So hoping the Ego multi-head is much better.

You say it feels like the motor is more powerful than the older Ego multi-tool powerheads, but it would be nice to see an actual comparison test between them. The max RPM is probably the same at around 5,800. Also we now see it's bundled with a 4.0ah battery.

This being my 10th video in a row I can't remember the exact numbers but it's supposed to be somewhere around a pound heavier and 1/5 or so more powerful motor. I think the numbers the guy said was a 2 KW motor in the original Power head and this has a 2.3 or 2.5 kilowatt motor but more so the increased Finesse and control of the RPMs with the new trigger design over obvious increased power has been the general theme that people are pointing out during demonstrations

@@Kitearmy what would be even more amazing is to get the "POWER+ POWERLOAD™ STRING TRIMMER WITH LINE IQ™" in the multi-head tool system. I'm holding my purchase for this right now and hope this will be able in the future (I don't understand why they don't offer it in both format)
@NoZenith
@NoZenith Жыл бұрын
@CabanonGuitarHero it's doubtful that that will be a thing. That would kind of defeat the purpose of the value of having a multi-tool with the power coming from the motor near the battery. Line IQ setups have the driving motor right on top of the string trimming head and without that you can't have the electronics and everything to drive the Line Feed. They might find a way but it's going to cost just as much as buying the standalone line IQ string trimmer so they probably won't bother (this conclusion coming from someone who is deep diving down the ego string trimmer rabbit-hole looking for exactly what you wanted haha)
@CabanonGuitarHero

@@NoZenith don't understand why it couldn't be a thing to be honest, it's just the attachment build with a quick connect.
@NoZenith
@NoZenith Жыл бұрын
@@CabanonGuitarHero line IQ requires the motor to be right on top of the string trimmer head. The whole idea of the multi-head attachment is having simplified powerless attachments that are driven by the motor and battery in your hands. They would have to run wires down to the Head to actually run an additional motor down there if you put line IQ on it. These multi-head tools are shaft driven by a motor in the powerhead, which is why it's called a powerhead

NO IT WILL NOT the original Power head does not have the terminals for the string trimmer attachment power nubs to get power from and you need power for the power load. All the other reviews talk about this. This is the only current worldwide Market power head attachment that does not work with the OG power head as far as I can find. I'm going to assume it will drive just fine but you'll have to manually load it.

Most of these ship with the 4 amp hour battery and honest and her charger I believe that takes about an hour to charge. Every single review that had the for a battery or was reading off the official Eco stats say it's supposed to run about 45 minutes on a 4 amp hour battery I was looking at my batteries to see the age of them and see if there was differences between the old original batteries and the newer style with the more accurate "fuel guage" lights and my stuff I think said 56 minutes to charge a 4 amp hour battery. Hope that helps. Just remember some people are more trigger-happy or want to keep the power on and do a lot of sweeping motions which will kill the battery faster than if you let go and move from one space to another so I would think you could safely get well over half an hour from a 4ah battery without risking running out.

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzbin.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

@@Kitearmy i’m not sure if they still do or not because I stopped using those horrible nightmares a while back. The last one I had the head actually spins clockwise. If you are serious about lawn care and you are used to having higher end tremors or if you have had any other electric trimmer you will notice that the head spins counterclockwise. That’s really the main difference between low end and high end trimmers, which way does the head spin. If you are used to the hiand trimmers and you get one of these egos it is literally going to be a dealbreaker for you. especially if you are someone who really knows how to use a trimmer and you edge with your tremor and so on and so forth. Heads that spin clockwise are the old style that you would see on a lot of cheap bent shaft trimmers. When I got the ego trimmer I was completely stunned.
