i am definitely one of the few that prefer the previous XC model but i can see the bigger appeal for this because of the lower seat height. I am not sure how i feel about the clock sharing the same as the trident 660. I would've preferred the retro twin clocks from the T120 because it would've fitted the theme of the bike better. We can only truly appreciate the value of the bike once we've tested those front and rear shocks.

Although my Scrambler 900 is lacking engine and breaking power and needs better suspension i always found it more appealing than the fancy 1200 Models. The 900 felt like a more accessible funbike. But the new toned down models look interesting to me. Perhaps an Option for 2024.

The X is a massive improvement… I sold my XC for all of the reasons they’ve now addressed… I would have preferred the speed twin clocks for a fully retro look but it’s definitely better..
@philiposwald780 Жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. I have the XC currently and while I love it, I prefer a keyed ignition and a round clock. We will see how much cooler it is as well. I’m very interested, despite it being less appointed. I prefer a simpler bike, and I would have loved analog as well.

Lower seat, still decent suspension travel and 21' front wheel is definitely a good formula. Have they managed to make it lighter though? It doesn't sound like it.
@mancavemoto Жыл бұрын
No I think it’s the same weight. Confusingly the 1200xc had a dry weight listed and the x is now shown with a ‘wet’ weight.
@rstrakovsky Жыл бұрын
I don't understand why they kept the 21 inch front wheel after all the changes to make it a more road biased bike. Also, a bit sad they dropped the high spec brakes, seems like a huge downgrade to be honest. The rest is pretty sensible, going down to 170 mm suspension travel is a good choice, as well as the seat height. The 1200 models always struck me a one size too big, but now at least the X model should be right in the sweet spot for most riders.

I had a Street Scrambler that I modified to my taste (you’ve seen it, Tony). I really liked it, but I always wished there was a 1200 version. I prefer lower bikes, so I think the new X will be worth a look. That is unless Fantic Motor brings the Caballero to the US.

Ah yes a lovely bike. Same here I loved my Street Twin but it always felt a little small when riding it. The new 1200X looks like the perfect solution
@ripmax333 Жыл бұрын
Although I would never be able to afford one, it's nice that they lower the seat height making it more accessible. The Ground clearance shown in the video IMO is more than enough for the type of riding shown here. But next biggest concern would be the Wet weight of thr motorcycle. If it's above 200kg it can be still a handful in offroad terrain on certain circumstances.
@mancavemoto Жыл бұрын
Yep it’s still a bit of a ‘lump’ but I can’t see it being used for any ‘challenging’ off road.

I like the scrambler range I just hope the suspension and brake down grades don’t effect sales unfortunately bling sells even if there’s no difference in performance, a good price point but definitely makes the second hand bikes with low miles a better deal
@mancavemoto Жыл бұрын
A good point, interesting that you described them as a downgrade, rather than replacement. It think maybe that’s indicative of the perceived quality that some brand names hold? I’m not saying they don’t make good parts obviously, but like for the like the performance may be same, or maybe the new ones better? We’ll only know once the bike is ridden

Hi from Greece. Excellent video. I was wondering why Triumph put a 21” front wheel on the x model? I thing it was not necessary and a 19inch would be a perfect match. It is weird 170mm of travel to have 21” front wheel. Never saw it before

I had a Scrambler 900 for three years and really loved it, taking it to the Isle of Man, NC500 and into Europe but I fancied something with more power so bought an NT1100. I've only had the NT1100 for a couple of months and it's very capable but not very pretty and I'm looking at the 1200 X with lustful eyes. I'm only 168cms tall so the previous 1200 scramblers were too tall for me. I'll probably get a test ride later in the year.
@tomgidley2128 Жыл бұрын
As an XE owner the X looks like the better bike. When I had a Street Scrambler, what I really wanted was a 1200 version and the X is more or less exactly that. Losing that godawful TFT screen is a plus and there is another change they haven’t flagged up anywhere - it appears they’ve dropped the key fob ignition. Hurrah! For that alone, I’ll consider this bike.

The spec of the XC was too close to the XE IMO. Making the new X more "road focused" is a good move and makes it closer to a 1200 version of the Street Scrambler which is what many riders, myself included, wanted. Let's be honest though, none of them are serious off road bikes, they're just too heavy.
@jonno94 Жыл бұрын
Good presentation and some good points made by your viewers, both positive and negative. My thoughts are, yes they have slightly downgraded the XC to the X model, mainly due to demand, i'd like to think the majority of people buying the X model, will mainly use the bike as an urban commuter/sunday blast bike, not a major touring bike and the biggest portion of their customers, probably don't need the big branded brakes and suspension, lets face it, it's not an all out perfrmance bike and probably won't be ridden like one, there is plenty of other bikes for that. But i think they should of maybe offered and option of buying a the lower X but with XC spec suspension and brakes, but with lower travel or simply a lower XC for those with height issues. As for tank size, again is this bike aimed at the touring market? i'd say no, so you might loose a bit of range, but will benefit from a bit of weight saving in tank size and the weight of fuel. Just for reference, i have the early 1200 bobber with the 9ltr tank and can easily get 130 miles between fills and that is riding the bike quite aggresively, it averages around 63mpg no matter how i ride it, so i reckon 15ltrs is plenty considering the style of bike.

Triumph did not make the biggest feature update. The heat coming from that engine is unbearable at least in the US summers. If one lives in Alaska for sure it is a big plus. For the rest of us is awful.
@ripmax333 Жыл бұрын
Although they say its a liquid cooled motor I read somewhere longtime ago where triumph actually said that its still partially AirCooled as it doesn't hold a lot of coolant hence why the radiator is so small. Those fins radiate a lot of heat. I have a street twin 900 and in the summer days in heavy traffic conditions the engine heat is unbearable.
@AlexOnABoat Жыл бұрын
The lower seat height is a big draw, I look like a child on the current models, my feet dangling uselessly inches above the ground. I like the simplicity of the instruments too, the current model looks a bit fussy, and for a potential off-road machine a total dirt-trap, but what would really win me over from my current 900 Scrambler would be cruise control, and it sounds like that's gone. What the updated 1200, and the new 400 ranges do do, is make the 900 look very dated, with the huge halogen headlamp and analogue (no bad thing) clocks. I wonder if we'll see some of this update carry over to the 900 engined versions, let's hope this increased accessibility isn't a precursor for their deletion. Two small points I wish Triumph would address, the USB is still under the seat, which frankly is a stupid place to put a socket and the ridiculously small paint choice, come on Triumph, I can have a smorgasbord* of colour at Royal Enfield, you're being far too Henry Ford for my liking.
