G'day Annie 👋🏻💖 Oh my goodness, thank you so, so much 🙏🏻😲 I still cannot believe that you want to support me even in the new year; you seriously give way too much?!! Thank you so much for your Super Thanks, and for your kinds words; the shells really made a great display this time ❤️🐚🏖️! I'm going to sneak an edit in here because I forgot to write it: I'm absolutely thrilled that you liked the shells, and that Arabic Wentletrap in particular! I think it might be one of the largest/longest I've found?? And it was just sitting in such an open spot! Also, I hope you and all of your loved ones are doing well 🙏🏻 shhhh I noticed the time your comment arrived...get some sleep 😂!! Let me see, I think I've got a behind the scenes story to mention for such a big day. As I was walking to the mangroves, I encountered a man who asked how I was; I chatted with him a bit and told him where I was going and that I had plenty of water, but it must have stuck in his mind...he walked back along the beach towards the mangroves several hours later to check on me. He was worried about the heat and if I'd had enough to drink (I'd nearly drained that 1.5L bottle by the time I got to the car). It sounds a bit sus when I write it out (some dude coming to find me in a very secluded spot) but he was a genuinely nice old guy. I'm glad I was already well out of the mangroves by then, though; meeting or hearing people in there always gives me the heavy jeebies because it's so isolated! Ahhh what else? Oh, I left earlier than usual this day...I thought about going up to the next beach, but there really was a storm rolling in; we've had a bit of rain here lately! I want to go and check out Burrum Heads for more urchins 😂 but my timing didn't quite work out this time. I recently met up with my Dad's cousin from your part of the world; I had a weird thought that you'd somehow know each other...as if the entire state is small enough that you'd know everyone 😅 sorry, it was a weird thought! Anyhoo! I hope you're having a wonderful New Year with plenty of fun and adventures planned for 2025. Thank you so, so much for your support, and for watching the big adventure 🥰❤️🥰

Ahhh, I just realised that I showed the incorrect image of the red thorny oyster at the end… that’s what happens after too much editing all in one day -the brain got fried!…I was wondering why I didn’t like it as much as I remembered 🤣 it was the wrong shell! Ahhh, Maddie…

G'day Novembah! I waited to reply to this comment until I was on the computer becasue I wanted to share a cockle picture with you (I think you really like them??) and your comment even spoke specifically about an orange coloured one! This photo is long like a web comic, and it's on Facebook, but hopefully you can still view the post: facebook.com/photo/?fbid=569425519247118&set=a.116300711226270 It's a cleanup of a "Hairy Cockle" that I found a few months ago at this beach, and the one slightly north of it. They're the only two I've ever found, and I was no expecting such a nice clean up on them! Thank you so much for watching 🥰 And I hope you can see/enjoy the post picture! 😄

Good morning, Maddie Wow, the flats are amazingly beautiful, the moon snails are lovely, the bailer shells are very nice and good colors, the blackish margarites, the zebra volute, the dog welkes, the long spined thorney oyster was amazing, the spotted strawberry top shells are lovely. The rock shell, the Campbells Strombus, was very nice. There is not a shell today i did not really like a lot. I could name so many, but i should stop now. I hope you had a wonderful new year. May this year bring you so much joy, health, and happiness. Maddie, thank you for another wonderful shelling adventure. Have a great day.

G'day Toni! This was a fantastic haul of different scallops, bivalves, and a couple of very interesting gastropods :D I'm so glad that you liked the more common Blackish Margarite, along with the much more uncommon Zebra Volute (this was was a crowd favourtie!) I appreciate that you enjoy all of the shells, not just the rarer ones! Even the rock shell and top shells, and conch shells got mentioned! Thank you so much for watching, and for your lovely comment - I know they are an effort to make, and I really appreciate that as well. Happy New Year, and I truly, truly hope that 2025 will bring you all the joy you missed in 2024. Here's to a much better year than the last ones. Be strong, you amazing lady!!

I love that thorny oyster, wow! Also, that baby baler with the mix of colors is very cool too! One of my favorite shells that I've found is a giant eastern murex that's perfect and has the same range of colors as the baler, a mix of tawnies and blue/grey's. I love that almost "calico" combination. What a great haul!

@ShellingAdventures 19 сағат бұрын
G'day Melissa! That baby baler is a cutie, isn't it!?? Actually, now that you mention it, it does have a calico combination - it reminds me of a childhood cat that I used to have. I'm trying to imagine an eastern murex in this colour combo too... and suddenly I'm thinking that it would look even more like a cat? Anyway!! Oh yes, I have seen those shells that turn BLUE, and I sorely wish that the sand would turn shells blue here too, but I think your sand is more interesting in the USA? Or has some other kind of minerals in it? No sure, but it's impressive. As always, thank you so much for watching.

G'day Roxann 👋🏻🏖️ I am quite spoiled for flats at this beach; I don't usually see them at the home ones! It's crazy how different environments will produce different shells. Huh, you got some Stranger's Scallops too 😲 keep in mind that a lot of the Decatopecten (genus name) scallops all look extremely similar! The location of where you scallops were found will clue you into which exact species they are... I think the Stranger's Scallops might be restricted to Australia and adjacent waters to the north?? Enough needing out 😂 I'm really glad that you enjoyed seeing all of the gastropods as well; I was pleased to come across a few Wentletraps and that nice Baler too. I hope you're feeling better this week 🙏🏻 Thank you so much for watching 🥰

Hi Maddie, Happy New Year! Wow, your first episode of 2025 was epic! You had so many wonderful finds, but, in my humble opinion, the very thorny thorny oyster and the dark baler shell stole the show. However, I would have been very happy with any of the other shells you showed us, especially the pretty zebra volute, all the great scallops, and the various wentletraps. Hervey Bay was generous with the shells; makes me eager for a return visit, especially while watching from here in frigid, land-locked Austria. I wish you continued shelling success for 2025. Thanks so much for filming!

G'day Jan!! Brrrr it's way too cold in Austria!! Might I suggest somewhere tropical to have a holiday home at? Oh my goodness, thank you so much for your kind words; this trip was fantastic and absolutely opposite to the slow/poor finds I was coming across at home beach. This was the perfect way to start the new year; that thorny oyster, black baler, nice scallops, and zebra volute really made my day! Hehe, you will have to come back one day and find more Aussie shells... though hopefully there will be more than in your last trip! Also, and I just learned this, but a housing development is going in right behind the beach where we walked along... the population of that area is set to double of the next few years! I hope the influx of people will leave the beach clean and full of shells, but who know!! Shelling there might be more or less competitive in the future? Ahhh, I wish I could live there!!! Anyhoo!! Happy New Years my shelling friend! Me and my wife had one of the best sea selling days of our lives yesterday, here on Bolivar Peninsula located right next to Galveston Island,TX. We have went sea shelling on this beach many times before but never had an experience like this one! The conditions were absolutely perfect. Cold front just came through, Rain storm just came through, and maximum low tide for 3 days straight! We found so many shells that I had to purchase a 4ft x 4ft storage container, to bring them all home. IT WAS CRAZY! Well, happy New Year's to you!

G'day Richard!! Happy New Year to you too! Any resolutions this year, or is it just another year of fun and adventures? Congratulations on your amazing trip to Bolivar Peninsula (I had to look at it on the map, what a gorgeous strip of land right on the gulf!), it looks absolutely beautiful on the internet photos. It's crazy that the experience was so good there this time; it must have been the perfect combination of factors. I think you are getting all the super low low tides, and I'm getting all of the super high low tides on the other side of the world! Strange how that all works on a global scale?? Oh my gosh, I read 4ft at 4m for a second and thought that you got one of those massive shipping containers to haul home!! Ahhh don't mind me~ 4ft x 4ft is still HUGE, what a crazy haul! What was the favourite shell(s) from the haul? I'm thrilled that the start of your 2025 shelling adventures was such a fantastic one as well. Thank you so much for watching and sharing the news about your trip :D

Hey Maddie, I finally got back to HB a few days ago myself and the beach looked exactly like this, it was soooo awesome! I also found my first zebra volute shell. Love it. Keep it coming! Happy 2025 🎉

G'day Lauren 👋🏻🏖️ Oh wow, this was filmed a few days ago too (Thursday) so maybe we were both on the beach at the same time??? Crazy! I hope you also got a similarly spectacular haul of shells 🤩! Congratulations on your first Zebra Volute 🦓 shell; was it a lovely orange too? Happy 2025, and thank you so much for watching 🥰

G'day Tropical Escapades 👋🏻🏖️ Oh my goodness, thank you so much 🙏🏻 the break was wonderful, but it's been nice to get back to the beaches as well...though that home beach has been picked over more than a little! Hervey Bay doesn't disappoint though 😁 Thank you so much for watching the big adventure today 🥰

G'day Carole 👋🏻🏖️ Ohhh the black one?? I forgot to mention it, but the colours and patterns peeking through the black discolouration were very nice and clear 🤩! A very interesting shell 🐚 Happy 2025, and thank you so much for watching the big adventure today 🥰

Fun idea for a video might be to buy some shells from Temu, see if they are real, see if you can find any rare ones and see if they are labeled correctly. Temu can be so hit or miss, might be a fun unboxing video!

Actually, on second thought, it’s probably unethical and harvested.

G'day Hailey! I wanted to give a thoughtful reply to your comment, so it took me a while to circle back to you. I like your idea (Temu videos have been popping up lately, haven't they?) but I have a few personal reservations, though I might push past them for a video idea one day. First up, I did have a look on Temu, and the shell prices are actually more expensive (or on the level or higher end) than buying from a shell show or giftware store here in Australia. Also, I have done an Aliexpress video once, and all the shells were real, none of them were labeled, and one of them was incorrect compared to the sale picture. So I feel like I know what I'd be getting into with a Temu unboxing, and I'm not sure if I want to do it again. I have been thinking about buying/reviewing shells from another online seller that specialises in natual oddities, so I want to do that sometime this year (but the shell shows always seems to eat up my money instead :D)??? To your final comment, that is just how the industry is. For a lot of the shells that come from Asian pacific nations, many are a byproduct of consumption; the snails are a food source, and the empty shells are disposed of or sold. For sure, there are plenty of species that are harvests for the shells as well. Again, that's just how the industry is, and while I won't harm a snail for it's shell, I have reluctantly accepted that that's how it is. If other people do this (and it is legal for them to do so) then I won't push back on it. It really depends on mindsets, culture, and as a source of vital income. I won't fault people for doing what they do, or for having different outlooks than me. Does that make me morally wrong? I don't know; again, it's all about mindsets and culture. Wow, I got way off track with that ramble!! Thank you for watching such a big adventure, and for your suggestions and comments :D

Happy New Year, Maddie! Nice way to start the year with such a big haul. So many to love, but I think that thorny oyster and the zebra volute were my favourites.

G’day Reet 👋🏻💖 “Haul” is the right word indeed! It’s crazy how much is up at Hervey Bay to find (as opposed to the tourist-packed beaches here at home); this was such a nice trip. Ohhh so the zebra volute and thorny oyster were the favourites this time 🤩 they do deserve the top spots 😁 Thank you so much for watching 🥰

Hay Maddie, if you know a good way to remove oysters from anything, I would sure like to know. I found a really nice 5" Spondylus gloriosus with two oysters right on top of it.
