This is why Yamaha has been my favorite brand since I was first looking into bikes as a kid in the late 90's. I'm really happy to see them doing something that actually excites me personally, the last time I remember being hyped about something from Yam was their YXZ-1000 SxS (with the clutch pedal). I alwas said if they committed to putting that 900cc in a supersport it would be a killer middleweight for those that want a supersport but dont was to drop 18-20k on a liter bike. Once the aftermarket goes crazy with ECU flashes, this bike is going to shatter peoples expectations
@erichewitt8906 күн бұрын
Not to mention the fact that that horsepower number is mirrored at about 7k rpm’s sooner than the R6. And for anyone that actually wants more power out of it, extreme creations already makes a direct bolt on turbo kit for the other current productions CP3 bikes, giving it 200hp for $4k. Track bikes are best for the track and I need to get into track riding for sure. As someone that really wanted to see this bike come out and waited but finally broke down and bought a triumph daytona two years ago that I love I do feel Yamaha slightly missed the mark. Looks wise can't help but think it looks a bit cheap, I loved the old rumor photos biased off the r6 design. And also was hoping for some engine mods to more suit a sport bike. 10.5k redline is low, I love reving my bike out to 14.4k. And the mt09 engine was never a powerhouse for its size, F3 beats it by 30hp with 100cc's less while redlining 3k higher. It would have been a perfect time to though on a more aggressive cam, higher compression piston, intake porting, stacks and you are good for around 140 at the wheel on the older engine down 50cc's. If they had done this it would have been an easy buy for me. But I also do still really like the bike and think it will sell well, just not good enough to part from the daytona

You are just getting old man, I remember following in you since the CBR600RR. Way back in the day, you used to say that bike was super comfortable and all you needed for the streets haha At that time I didn't ride but always wanted to, almost bought one of those. I started ridding two years ago, bought a yeamaha bolt and sold it after 1000 miles, bought an MT07 and sold it after 1000 miles, enjoyed both of those bikes, but they were not for me. I then bought my MT09 and had it for a year now, I love this bike, except for a few things that make it a bit uncomfortable for the cold weather where I live and long distances for my bad knee. I have been looking into some smaller adventure bikes like the Tiger 900 and Transalp, seriously considering the Transalp if they add tubeless and cruise control. I would love if they made a tiger 660 rally with cruise control too. I have never had a supersport bike, but the R9 looks super tempting and I am actually considering it, even though it will be less comfortable than my MT09, but just to have that supersport experience, even if it for just a year or two. I would never throw it in the track, but I don't think that would make me a poser lol I just want to have that experience.
@CycleCruzaАй бұрын
lol Back then they did not have any great naked bikes so most us rode sueprsports and superbikes on the street. I'm in the same good physical condition as I was when I started this channel but since then they have come out with so many sick naked bikes that are tuned for the street much bettter than supersports and superbikes which are more top end bikes for the track. However, this new R9 is a game changer with loads of bottom end and mid range grunt. Yeah it is not as comfortable as a MT-09 but they made it a bit more comfortable than track bikes and it will be fun to get back on a sueprsport for old times sake and something different. I always have my MT-07 and Supermoto for comfort. I really need to hit the track, the only thing I haven't done on this channel. Maybe one day I'll get into the ADV bikes but for now I feel too young for them. 😂 Btw, I'm still a hooligan on my supermoto! lol
@newbieridesАй бұрын
@@CycleCruza Haha I feel you, I am 35 but the main reason I am looking into adventure bikes is not really for being old. It is more the comfort they offer for me to commute to work on cold days and on weekends when I can take a full day to ride and do longer distances. If it wasnt for the cold I love my MT09. Yea I could throw in some taller wind screen, some hand guard and heated grips on the 09, but I feel like that would just make it look stupid lol If I could have more than one bike I wouldn't think twice, the R9 would be in my garage as my daily commuter, then I would get a small adventure bike for those days I do longer rides and cold commute days.

@CycleCruza I think of the center light as being a staple of Suzuki. It just kinda distracts the eye from the sick and very unique look of the headlights. You have the to bladed lights that look badass like squinting eyes of some beast and then there is this awkward wide open circle lamp just slapped in the middle. I think they may have added that for visibility or something because the size and shape of the bladed headlights may have been harder to see at some angles

I was excited for this bike but I hate the front end they ended up making. The wings make it look goofy, it's not a super bike. Also making it cost so similar to a GSXR750 is kind of a huge miss. Might as well get that instead since it only makes 4ft lbs of torque less and way more HP. XSR900 is such a better deal, especially a few years ago when it was $9999
@CycleCruzaАй бұрын
I agree the winglets are 🧀. However, looking at the front end closely I believe they are easily removable and held on by two bolts. The Gixxer 750 only has 55.7 ft-lb torque vs 69 ft-lb torque for the R9. The R9 will have way better low end and mid-range grunt then the gixxer 750.
@pixel279Ай бұрын
@@CycleCruza Did a little research. Appears the info from a video I got was from possibly a 2011 750. Could have been cherry picked lol. Looks like the 2024 does indeed get around 55, even with a tune. Not sure if removing the wings would be good though, might cause unnecessary drag since it wasn't really designed that way. Would still be curious to see how it looks. Maybe if someone makes an aftermarket piece that could replace it it could work better. Would still prefer the XSR900 over this one though. I guess it comes down to preference vs price. If you want a sportier looking bike, pay some more. If not, pay a little less. I'd probably pick the 750 over the R9 myself. But id 100% pick an XSR900/MT09 over an R9. I've got an 18 400 and a 2021 ZX6R and love both for what they are. Been riding for 10+ years and never get tickets or anything foolish. When you get that R9. Don't forget to get a Begode Falcon too. It's a nice little wheel that has a 1500 watt motor that goes 28 mph and 50 mile range that would be perfect for your next video.
@CycleCruzaАй бұрын
I saw somebody on one of those on the street, looked fun but dangerous. I would hate to hit a pothole on that thing and be thrown forward. I crashed both of my e-scooters. lol
@ilive4d80s6Ай бұрын
@CycleCruza The thing has suspension. Many people hit pot hole and all other stuff and never be thrown oof unless the pot hole is a crater. Plus the thing goes 28mph max unlike the big wheels that can do 60 and above. You could call the Begode Falcon a beginner wheel. Would love to see you on the thing. I will try to get it myself so when my wife kicks me out of the car. I can go to my suger momma's house.

Looks sweet... honestly, though, a GSXR750 is more bike for the money. Unless you want all the modern electronics. The GSXR750 has close to 30+ HP on the R9. Don't get me wrong, that R9 will be fun.
@CycleCruzaАй бұрын
The GSX-R750 is a great bike but doesn't have as much torque as the R9. The gixxer 750 only has 55.7 lb-ft bs vs 69 lb-ft on the R9. Also, the R9 won't get as hot as the gixxer and other supersports. That CP3 engine is grunty as heck, they added a couple teeth on the rear sprocket for a bot more top end but it'll still be torquey as all hell.
@fchanMSIАй бұрын
I own a 2021 MT-09 & it has plenty of power & torque if really want it. I was always thinking when they were going to release the CP3 engine with a sport fairing bike as the only reason that MT-09 limited is wind & programmed limits of 130MPH as over 100 the wind of any naked bike is not enjoyable.
@CycleCruzaАй бұрын
The wind never bothers me but I don't usually ride anymore than 100 miles in a day. If I toured on a motorcycle then I would get something fairings and a wind screen.

Gixxer 750 only has 55.7 ft-lb torque vs 69 ft-lb torque on the R9. The gixxer 750 has about +5 hp vs R9, but the R9 will likely whoop it off the line.

Only ever been on a dirt bike. Buddies are telling me to not buy an R7 because ill get bored in 6 months. Probably wont be able to keep up etc. is this too much to "start" on. I live out in the mountains. No traffic or city to worry about.
@KrypteiaXi19 күн бұрын
Tell these morons that if you cannot keep up with an R7 they are dangerous for public safety. You don’t need these retards around, especially when you are a complete rookie. What do you think is going to happen when you struggle to keep up with them in the twisties and you ride way above your skill level in order to keep up? I hope you are smart enough to not find out.

not that impressed, looks budget especially the swingarm. If u want short reach to the clip-ons get a Daytona675 or Panigale 1199/1299 or the v2. If u want good ergonomics on most sport bikes then tilt your levers downwards instead of having them at stock, where they often are very parallel with the ground, ie horizontal instead of following your fore arms angle.
@CycleCruzaАй бұрын
That CP3 engine makes up for it. Have you ever rode a MT-09? The grunt of that CP3 is sublime. For that low price, you can't expect Panigale premium components. It has premium parts where you really need it like the Stylema brakes and fully adj suspension like the MT-09 SP has.
@PillokunАй бұрын
@@CycleCruza I like the cp3 engine, best engine in the market for an naked, it is a hooligan hoot when one desires it. The swingarm looks budget, and from the looks of it seems to be a direct shock system which is more budget if it is true. I expect more from a supersport than this. As a naked the mt09 is superb but as a supersport, I dont know man.
@dougiequick125 күн бұрын
The MT09 motor is NOT an R6 like track motor because it is so short on revs which the track is all about.... still it will be more fun in the street no doubt but the reputation WILL suffer with track reviews especially "R9 vs R6 track comparison" which will inevitably hit you tube.....got to have them REVS baby!
