I think theres a way to set a limit on how far down the wheels can reach. Add a distance sensor that faces the body on each of the pipes holding the wheels. Set the sensor to activate the hinges that move the certain wheel up and down. Adjusting this value should give you adjustable suspension travel.
@wtswins3 ай бұрын
i was limiting it by changing the angle on the hinges themselves but the big problem is when all of the wheels are reaching down at the same time.
@MarginallyAddicted3 ай бұрын
add distance sensors in 4 corners as well as the angle sensors and factor that in

I struggle to understand a lot of the technical components in this game, and I'm sure a lot of other people do too, so it would be super appreciated if you were able to show us how this works in a step by step process ❤

There are probably 8 scenarios that occur, being all the 8 angle directions. Foward, left, right and backwards ect. Each input either raises or lowers individual wheels, to maintain level. The downside is that it requires a level ground, not hills or slopes, otherwise it squats.
@-aid40843 ай бұрын
He's also using some swing arm suspension, with steering hinges set to a low strength and the input being the ajustable height.
@wtswins3 ай бұрын
Maybe!

it has a few logical scenarios like that to prevent it from squatting on hills but I didn't really get technical.

Functionality: check! Low Complexity: Cross! Logistical Nightmare: Check! Fragile: CHECK!! All seriousness, a way I can. See to improve it, is to have distance sensors in the wheels. If they don't see terrain, they move down. This could also be wired into some other stuff to solve more issues, like the reaching for the ground thing

An easy way to improve thisdesign would be to not just rely on the position of the car but lso to use distance sensors to just very slight predict*put them infornt of car* the movement so that your suspention is already on its way before you get there ofc it wont change too much but atleast a bit, you can also incoroporate power coupling suspention to dampen it much more,

if I were to use power couplings for suspension it would also dampen the active suspensions effect.

Just subscribed, You could put distance sensors on the axles connecting to the wheels and have them at varying distances and have it to where the short one is required to be on for the active stabilization and the others affect the speed and brace of the stabilization. You could put freebearing hinges on 10 strength and it would allow slight angling, thus energy dissolvement, may not work because of the speed of the suspension though.
@wtswins3 ай бұрын
that should work in theory but in practice because the sensors are not inside of each other they will be detecting entirely different rocks.
@Zane12ai3 ай бұрын
You could also just use 4, one on each wheel. Wire them up into an XOR gate that has another source of constant input
@henriksz_3 ай бұрын
I might have an idea, what if you use distance sensors right in front of the wheels facing down making the sort of read the terrain if you somehow manage to make a treshold for a set distance it might compensate just well enough

@Zane12ai3 ай бұрын
@@wtswinsit doesnt need to see every bump, just have it go down regardless. It would result in a smother ride reguardless
@-aid40843 ай бұрын
I think something is missing, the suspension isn't able to lower with input from the sensors, therefore you can't dampen big bumps. I'd be curious if you played around with the ratio between positive height to level and negative height on the other wheels. Maybe it lowers height until the ground clearence reaches a point with some distance sensors where it switches to adding height. But I do think only 4 body sensors could be limiting how independent the suspension behaves.
@wtswins3 ай бұрын
if I do the exact opposite of the current set up it actually achieves a state where it is really good at keeping the wheels on the ground and can handle big jumps and whatnot but the side effect is that the cockpit is the opposite of stabilized.

It causes you to drive slower because of the way it works it pulls the wheels off the ground to keep the cockpit level. because the wheels were in contact with the ground for a shorter time the creation didn't accelerate as much.
@m.ethegamer40913 ай бұрын
They were definetly going the same speed, the speedometer measures the cockpits speed in any direction. This means they were both going roughly 80, but since the second ride wasnt as smooth due to the lack of stabilization it bounced giving the seat up and down movement too adding almost 10 kph. Even if it was going 10 kph faster it isnt a very big difference and likely wouldnt have much effect at such a high speed. So basically to summarize, this is a good demonstration because it isnt gaining extra bounce from more speed, its gaining extra speed on from more bounce(in a bad way)
