You crushed that McDonald's ad. Imagine if you spent eight hours on it. AI in ads is the future, and quick, cheap ads are a no-brainer. McDonald's definitely botched their AI ordering rollout. Even an off-the-shelf open-sourced quantized small language model running locally on my phone could do better. They should build in-house instead of using failed third party demos. Pitch your workflow. A sarcastic digital avatar taking orders would be a hit. I’d tip the bot. Companies need to stop releasing beta products. We want finished, working ones. Looking at you, Apple - but mostly Google. Thanks for the show guys!

@33:55 I believe it. I have a friend who is a medical doctor and I asked her to quiz the ChatGPT. Lets just say she was shocked at how good it is. Base GPT 4o. Maybe not perfect but given enough context it could help medical doctors. But the AMA will block a lot of it because...reasons😢

47:54 yep Im using AI to help me with writing a script. Its incredibly liberating and helps alleviate writers block. Its nice to push the cognitive load of formatting, grammar etc to the AI so that your ideas can just flow. You can then go back and manually tweak scenes or take time and rework a scene later.

I once had a doctor try to adjust some medicine I’m on. His dosage seemed to be too high (and more expensive) from my experiences. While he left and I waited in the room, I double checked with chatGPT and it solidified my idea of my correct dosage. I used it to construct an argument to keep my same dosage. When he returned, he was taken back that I said the right terms and eventually agreed. All in like 30 seconds while I waited.

Thank you for being cheerleaders, sometimes devil's advocates, but most importantly vocal critics when apropriate. There is excitment surrounding AI when it comes to fun tools yet we cannot ignore some harm that can come from them. It should be noted that harm can always be traced to humans. Humans who are not being careful in its use or are intentionally being bad actors when using AI tools.

@16:00 - 17:04 These AI tools are liberation gor creatives. You font have to bow down yo Hollywood Bureaucracy and politics. Indie studios will be able to compete. I never watched films because they were produced for a big budget. The Daniels spent next to nothing (relatively) on EEAO and look at that masterpiece! Sure jobs will be lost, but you dont need Hollywood, they need you and will find out really quickly when they have to compete with you and smaller studios.

Progress has always been a problem for the working class. It is easy to feel a slight sense of personal satisfaction when someone, who used to demand a million dollars to act in a 2hr movie, is suddenly living paycheck to paycheck like we are. Now the prop people, special effects, sound design all the way down to janitors who clean the movie sets are going to be out of work as well. AI is a double-edged sword that will affect a lot of jobs other than the obvious ones.

honestly yes -- it's really going to make many things more efficient. but the hard part is that a LOT of people were sold essentially that these movies would take staffs of nearly a thousand to get done and that's going to come way down which then means a lot less people and jobs available.

Why don’t you both talk about how AI can’t be copyrighted protected? I teach a business class with a whole segment dedicated to ethical use and what you can and can’t copyright based on over 100 years of legal precedent. AI generative results cannot be owned or protected. Every result is automatically deemed public domain. This is worth a dedicated video to clarify for your audience.

So there's actually quite a bit of gray area here and it's prob worth diving into on an episode and maybe we'll look for a lawyer to interview about this. But the only real legal precedence is on a 'computer only' output -- meaning that a non-modified computer output cannot be copyrighted. However, it's extremely likely that something like the fake commerical Gavin made WILL be copyrightable because it a combination of different ai outputs to make an entirely unique creative work. If nothing that used computer generated material was uncopyrightable, we'd have had a lot of issues with major action and superhero films by now.

Text to image is a one trick pony and in no way represents a threat to film production. It's great for storyboarding but there's limited storytelling done with the current workflow. Text to video will get it's 15 minutes but it's just a tool
