You guys are completely right. The Dragon we see in the trailer could simply be a new "Great Dragon" and not necessary Grigori. I believe the setting of the sequel will take place in Vermund, a neighboring country to Gransys. With the possibility of endless cycles and parallel universes it's hard to say if this is just another version of Gransys or set in a timeline before/after dd1.

Grigori is a title given to angels, it means Overseer or Watcher, the Savan's dragon is also A Grigori, the dragon, not the same one we fight, since for Savan to become Seneschal he must kill the dragon. There's a plot hole though, if one defeats the dragon and becomes seneschal, where does next dragon come from, there must be a dragon to select another arisen, but a arisen must be defeated by the seneschal to become a dragon, unless the creation powers of the seneschal extend to creating dragons from nothing like he does with people.

This is what I'm leaning towards most with no other info given right now as well, mainly because it gives the most space within the lore for development and changes compared to the first game. I’d like to think that this plays into an idea I had a while back in which our Arisen using the Godsbane blade on ourselves and seeing our pawn wake up in our body has had dire consequences in that the Godsbane blade will now be stored within the body of pawns (Inherently making them more important to the Arisen if they wish to ascend).

Finally someone who gets it. Everybody looks at the tower and thinks "oh we're going to explore the same map"; without giving two f*cks about the angle you see it in. It's clearly to the north of Gransys, especially when you combine the position of the Bluemoon Tower on the left with the fact that you see mountains on the right, making them possibly the western (tower to the east) Tainted Mountains. We also see a wall, probably the other side of the Greatwall, and the City is now named Vermun. One thing is certain. It is NOT the same Gransys. PS: concerning the classes, I'm really hoping they implement some kind of stealth system, as in your enemies not instantly knowing where you are, especially for the Strider/Assassin vocations, something simple like in Kingdoms of Amalur or the sort. Be very interesting to go through bandit strongholds trying to keep a stealthy assassin approach. Not super necessary, but would be pretty cool

It is NOT Gran Soren. I'd bet money on it. Here is my comment I posted on Infinite Cringe's analysis. Agree with Yoredrag-onight4204. It's not Gransys. Blue Moon would be more to the left from the angle of the shot. It's not. It's more to the right. Almost looks like it's on an island. And more lined up with the city. Also, I don't think those are the ruins of Gran Soren. I think they are the initial town area outside the city at 34:17. Like how many medieval cities actually were. Combined with the city itself looking different and the desert stuff, etc, etc. Pretty sure it's a different area. Just looks similar from the shots we've seen.

Savan fought the dragon with the exact same voice too. Implying that whoever the dragon is will adopt the same manner of speech, intelligence and majestic presence. As for the fake arisen, I think the necklace the dude's wearing is probably a fragment of the riftstone. I dont think its a wakestone since wakestones arent inherently useful to pawns. So maybe the mummer is using it to trick pawns that he is the Arisen. But this would be really cool. Its would be like Dante vs Vergil kind of rivalry. Would be cool to have some new vocations like a cleric or a bard class or something specialized in buffing team mates and placing dots/hots. Maybe some kind of mount to travel long distances, with a later option to use fast travel crystals like in the first game. The devs initially planned for DD1 to be much larger scale then it already was. They wanted some kind of glider to float around with in DD1 early in development, so the mount thing wouldn't even be a bad idea for the sequal. The Arisen and a pawn even fly on the back of a gryphon in the beginning of the trailer so my hopes are up.

I am pretty sure it is not Grigori, there was one Trailer Version where all the Subtitles had names of the Characters that spoke them in there and it was silply "The Dragon" when you heard the Dragon speek. My guess is that like in the first Game it is a past Arisen, perhaps even the one right before. We might learn more about the Past Arisen an the Story unfolds. A possible Plot could be that the soverein that we see on the Throne could be a Pawn of a past Arisen who took the place of his master after betraying him. Since we know that Pawns gradually adapt to humanity on the journey with the Arisen they serve as seen i the Anime. Since the only prerequisite to become Arisen is a strong will it would not surprise me if some Arisen might be evil or turn Evil like the duke in the first game.

I keep hearing that the dragon is Grigori again but that isn't guaranteed is it? Some spoilers of the end of the game: We see in one ending of the game that all dragons seem to look the exact same when you lose against the Seneschal and become one. It becomes the same cycle and you look the same as Grigori did, but you don't seem to be Grigori as you already killed him by this time. i really doubt that it's a prequel considering that the Red Dragon is more of a standard of the concept rather than Grigori's, as in the Arisen, unique form as a dragon; that is to say i think every Arisen cursed to become a dragon takes the shape of "the Dragon", but that doesn't necesseraly mean that there was only one red dragon you know? Specially so when you start to look at Daimon's twisted form; like a Red Dragon that was born way too early but he still has features akin to Grigori, which makes me think that Grigori's Red Dragon is the standard form for the concept rather than something unique to that former arisen alone. i'll place my bets that it's an entirely different timeline existing parallel to DD1's rather than a prequel/sequel. Considering the heavy motiffs of unending spirals, multi-dimensions/timetravel and breaking free from the clutches of fate that were present in DD1 it'd be really strange to have DD2 have a linear story.

One of my favorite things about DDON was how much more focus the classes had. Each one had a very strong identity. Strider ditched the bow entirely and was purely a speed-freak of a dagger-wielder, and vice-versa, the ranger dropped the daggers and went in with only their bow. Each class got a lot of new abilities to mitigate the weaknesses of losing their secondary weapons (Strider had a grappling-hook-like-thing they could use to zip around and quickly mount monsters, ranger got some close range shots and other mobility options) and also to emphasis their class identities. I don't think they'll take the classes from DDON 1:1 though. They were broken down into the typical tank/healer/dps roles. Starting as a priest when you only had one pawn was quite rough, as you had very few offensive tools available to you and had to rely on your pawn to do the damage. (The pawns were amazing tanks though. Their AI was so good in DDON.) Before the servers shut down, they released a class called High Scepter, which honestly was pretty broken. It wore heavy armor, did lots of damage, and was rarely ever hit. If they could only bring half that class' spells or abilities and sprinkle it into DD2, I'd be happy. It was a lot of fun to play. TBF, all the classes were fun in their own way. Alchemist had a lot of interesting mobility options and utility at the same time as being capable of some impressive damage. I had a warrior pawn who, despite being a DPS class, could brace her way through just about every encounter. She tanked better than my actual tank. Sorry, I get started on DDON and I can't shut up. It was a great game, just annoying to play because VPN shenanigans, updates breaking fan-made localization patches, etc. There were a lot of hoops to jump through, but it was basically a Dragon's Dogma that you could play co-op and/or make a full party of pawns (eventually). The world suffered for it because of typical MMO things, so it was occasionally less immersive, but it was overall an improvement over the singleplayer game IMO. Shame its monetization was awful. I'll shut up now. [Edit]: I got so caught up in the combat/vocations part I forgot to mention that the I know the Sphinx is basically right out of Dragon's Dogma Online. I don't remember running into the Medusa in DDON, but my memory is pretty bad. Honestly, DDON didn't have that many more monster types over DD:DA. IIRC, the Sphinx shared some moves with another monster, (Griffin or Cockatrice?) but its mechanics were different enough it didn't feel like a copy+paste.

@GorBane by all means don't stop yourself! This is the exact kind of insight from players who played ddo I want to hear. Right now is absolutely the time to act like giddy kids a month before Christmas. I've seen gameplay of online, but just seeing the vocations broken down isn't the same as actually playing around with them. I'm with you on Capcom definitely won't just copy/paste stuff straight from online, it really looks like they're leading with the first game as the main inspiration, which is good. The only thing wrong with the original is just in how much they had to cut from the final product to meet the release deadline, hence why the whole game feels so limited in scope.
@GorBane Жыл бұрын
@@uncledoctor6920 Indeed, I'm glad their back to the original Dragon's Dogma aesthetic. I didn't hate DDON's style, but it was definitely more high-fantasy leaning than DD:DA. Told my friends that DD2 looks like Dragon's Dogma: Remastered, and that's not a bad thing. It feels like "Dragon's Dogma 2: For real this time, guys!" lol Honestly, I'm not one for much speculation. I had a thought that maybe that censor-bearer casting that bridge to the cyclops might be the Priest from DDON, just re-worked to be playable in singleplayer, but I have no evidence to back up that theory at all. I think the thing I want the most from DDON to make it into DD2 that DD:DA didn't have, is that Warriors in DDON could have a full set of 6 skills instead of being locked to 3 like in DD:DA. Oh, and maybe for Seeker/Strider to keep that grappling hook thing. That was ridiculous fun. Lastly, I wonder what'll happen to mystic knight. That wasn't a class in DDON. It was kinda re-worked into Shield Sage, which I did like as a class, but again, it was a tank class so its offensive tools were pretty limited and was focused on party play.
@uncledoctor6920 Жыл бұрын
@GorBane my thoughts exactly, concerning DD2 looking like DD remastered. That alone tells me the game is going in a good direction, because there's nothing inherently wrong with how the first game is, only that people wish there was more of it. From the shot of the arid region with the cacti and the bluemoon tower being seen from the perspective of someone standing on a different shore, it looks like we'll be getting exactly that. Could be a few expanded areas, could be the entire Kingdoms of places like Meloire, Hearthstone, Voldoa, who knows. All DD ever needed was a larger scope, and now it's getting it. As for the vocations, we definitely saw some new skills at play. That flying arrow shot the strider did with that goblin for example. It probably won't just be new stuff though, but meaningful reworks of how some of the classes play. If Capcom pulled apart and totally changed how all the classes worked inDDO and even added totally new ones, they have for sure taken the same approach with the original vocations. Looking forward to seeing what they've done. And that censer, that could just be an item used across classes. One thing I hope for is that certain classes feel less limited in their gameplay by virtue of just being that class, like how warrior's mobility gets gimped from the lack of skills or abilities. They can't dodge like striders and they don't have something quick like blink strike.
@yammoto148 Жыл бұрын
@@GorBane I mean tbh, I would prefer the secondary weapons at least for a single player game as its just a bit more immersive that your character who is a monster hunter covers all their bases and doesn't lean on just one niche. Also hope we get to respec a bit easier with less penalties because the first game made it really hard to switch between a physical and a magical class. But I am hoping for more vocations in general, like more classes that can heal besides the mage, more weapon choices like spears or other things. In the trailer one of the casters was using a censer so it will be interesting to see what they do for this game class wise.

As i've said in many other channels and on Reddit community itself, here goes my theory so far: The same cycle is happening again, with Grigori still alive and David Lodge making his voice, meaning that there's a possibility it's a setting before the events of Dogma 1 OR a paralel world happening at the same time, since every Player was an Arisen in your own world. I also though that tower in the distance was Bluemlon Tower, and this land could be Gransys before crumbling (Do you all notice the ruins that surrounds Gran Soren)? Like the Pawns says "Castle walls? Or ruins of such?", so maybe it's a prequel as a second game. What matters more, is that new creatures, armors, weapons, lands too (Vermund in this case) and Beastmen race will be available in the sequel, as if Itsuno is inserting again all the CUT CONTENT that falted in the first game! So, if now he's finally having such freedom and being made in RE Engine, tons of stuff is now possible due to new hardware and etc. In other words Rift, i'm feeling a strong good vibe about this trailer, was got with guard lowered (Was hoping for a trailer during SGF OR Hame Awards, just), and then... BOOM, PS Showcase!! That brought me to tears, in a year with NO E3 ='D Well, many new stuff are present now, even from MMO (Sphynx, haha) but the cycle is the very same. So i guess my theory is valid for now >D And about a fake Arisen, i don't care that much. What is intriguing is that necklace Sovran os wearing, and WHY you begin Dogma 2 in Gaol Know what? I need a PS5 now, the tendency just grew more after this trailer, haha And an important detail: Capcom itself named as "1st Trailer", so that means we'll have MOAR 8DDD

I have a strong feeling that this is a different cycle. We know that the cycle takes place across many "worlds" or parallel dimensions- even at the end when your pawn "condenses" thousands of versions of itself into one to gain personhood at last. I think this is a parallel universe, one that may inform the original game's grander story.
@UmbraDiSol Жыл бұрын
Like how cool would it be if you break the cycle and then end up in a parallel world space that happens to be the leftover world from the original game, and then you progress even further and end up on the moon. Cosmology, lore, meta-history... Ugh I'm so excited.

Considering one ending is the Arisen losing to the Senseshal and becoming the next dragon, I think this could either be a sequel to Dragon's Dogma's first time period, or considering the water level like you mentioned, a prequel. A time before the first game, since the cycle is never ending between Arisen and the Dragon. The first game, if I remember correctly gave us choice to break that cycle through specific actions but we could easily fall right into the repeated cycle. The Arisen becoming the dragon if they fail, or if going by the anime, if they slay the dragon for vengeance. Either way I love what is happening, what they learned from Dark Arisen plus DDO, I'm sure this game will be absolutely phenomenal. I was personally really hoping for multiplayer of some sort, will the Rift Stones work the same as in Dark Arisen where we can access other people's pawns for party members? If there's no multiplayer to speak of I hope they'll touch up on previous features and add whole new ones to make the single player experience even better. I can't wait to see more gameplay and in-depth looks at the class systems. The mage making a bridge of ice in the trailer to cross the gap? That looked so good. There's so much potential with this game.

I really doubt that it’s actually Gransys despite the look a likeness of the city to Gran Soren and blue moon tower, because if we approach Gran Soren from the north we wouldn’t see the tower since the coast is on the left side of the zoom out, that would put the tower behind us, still if we approach the city from west, yes that put the tower on the left side of the view but the tower sit in a peninsula connecting it to the main land on the west not the east like is shown in the trailer since there would be the sea instead of mountains tops.

From what they show in the netflix adaption and the previous game, theres basically a multiverse where even the same characters can be altered, even the dragon will not go to the same area for the arisen. none of the dogma series or games have to be a continuation, it can be like final fantasy with different characters in different worlds and id still play it lol.

At the end, you mention parallel worlds. My theory is that this Grigori is the same Grigori we killed in DD1, but in an alternate universe. OR that the Dragon simply always has the same voice and appearance, despite being different individuals that become the Dragon. The trailer even only refers to him as 'Dragon' rather than Grigori. It's also worth considering the likelihood of the story being retconned, especially considering the breast-kin characters being included in the game, despite not being present in the first game or even DDON. (I think DDON was set far before DD1, but I'm not certain.)

I just realized after rewatching the trailer we see every vocation except seemingly 1 We see fighter, warrior, strider, ranger, mage, sorcerer, magick archer and mystic knight But not assassin? Or presumably not assassin? Im wondering if assassin was perhaps somewhere in there but was hidden, since its a red/yellow vocation it used swords, daggers, shields and bows, so if its in the trailer its impossible to tell without an obvious assassin skill or say daggers sheathed with a sword in hand or possibly a few new weapons for assassin

I have a theory that you will be able to tag out and play as your pawn. The way the two characters trade places when they high five is too suspect, with one leaving the focus of the frame and the other coming closer. Also we see these two characters in the same scene when they're fighting the troll, and at that moment they're both pawns, but clearly one of them is being played as in the high five segment. Just speculation but I do wonder.

My only issue with using Grigori as the center of a theory for this is being a prequel to the first game is that Grigori technically appears multiple times throughout the timeline of the first game. First as the dragon that Savan slays in the past-which we know he was successful in because he becomes the Seneschal we fight in the first play through-second as the dragon we the player slay, and third as the Ur-Dragon that has devoured the hearts of numerous Arisen in a parallel world accessible in the Everfall. So while it could be a prequel, but it could also still be a sequel taking place after the events of the first game, or it could even be set in an alternate parallel world to the first
@kingofflames738 Жыл бұрын
Little side note, but Grigori wasn't Savan's dragon since Savan's dragon is dead. Grigori was a different person. Killing a dragon frees them from the cycle.
@shiprek900 Жыл бұрын
@@kingofflames738 At the very least all three of the dragons I mentioned shared the same voice actor, which is the entire reason people are calling this one Grigori. So either every dragon born to that specific world is Grigori simply given new life through the defeat of an Arisen at the hands of the Seneschal, or it’s simply that all of the main red dragons share the one of two voices and the same appearance with the only real effect of the slain Arisen being the sex of the dragon born (I say this because of Grette’s dragon being female). But either way the bulk of my point remains: this dragon sharing the same voice actor as Grigori doesn’t indicate that it’s a prequel by any means because thus far every male “red” dragon has had this same exact appearance and voice actor including Savan’s, ours, the Ur-Dragon, and even the dragon from the anime. So the game could be anything from a prequel, a sequel, to a sort of soft reboot taking place in a parallel world and we will only really know for sure once it’s officially confirmed
@kingofflames738 Жыл бұрын
@@shiprek900 Grigori isn't the only dragon we know of by name. There's also Grette.
@shiprek900 Жыл бұрын
@@kingofflames738 Yes, I am aware as I even mentioned Grette in my message. That's also why I suggested that the Great Dragon may have a preset appearance with one of two voices/identities dictated by the sex of the creature, which is then dictated by the sex of the Arisen that is slain by the Seneschal. I say that the identity may be sort of preset as well, because once she has become a dragon Grette's name is never mentioned again in the context of that dragon, and outside of Grigori we never hear any other name for a male great dragon. But what we *do* have is that Savan's dragon, Grigori, the Ur-Dragon, the dragon from the anime, and now the dragon from DD2 are the only male Great Dragons we've seen and they are all identical to one another in every way with the exception of the Ur-Dragon, who has more hearts and is undead. They have the same exact design, voice, personality, and mannerisms. So as I said in my last comment: the main point of my message is that any specifics are irrelevant, because the design and voice are not indicators of this being the same instance of the Great Dragon we all know and love, and thus have no bearing on whether this is a prequel, sequel, or parallel cycle and that we will simply have to find out for certain which it is when they provide more information on that specific aspect of the game
@lordgriefington Жыл бұрын
I am looking so much forward to it. Maybe we can totally alternate the game based on the decisions we make no only small results. That would give us totally different stories so many times we play. Maybe the arisen can be hero or outlaw. I may get a little fancy but I would like that. I wonder what system requirements it has. I don't run Hogwarts Legacy on high resolution. I am sure you will let us know.

The last Arisen abandoned the throne of god using the God's Bane and now we are left with a godless world. The curse of the dragon returns once again in search for a new chosen one to sit on the throne, while the anomalies from Rifts across time and space have begun to engulf the rest of the world with no god to watch over and maintain the balance. The new Duke of Gransys has taken the bargain with the dragon and has gained power beyond any human instead of fulfilling his task as Arisen. The task of saving the world and achieving godhood now lies on your hands newly Arisen!

I don't think it being set in the past can be evidenced by grigori. As even if the arisen ascends to seneshal. They can still send a dragon down to continue the cycle, or chose the choice to end themselves, which we don't know what happens next, but is evident a new cycle can start. As we know there are more a risen from other worlds in the rift from bitterblack isle. There's also the case that the dragon on the logo is slightly different looking than grigori.

I'm not convinced that this game is going to be set in Gransys (or at least Gran Soren), people seem to be latching on to this concept soley on the idea that this is the same 'Blue moon tower' that we see in the first game, but with so much mystery surrounding the tower and it's purpose, it could simply be one of many towers in the world, or even an artifact that spans the rift and appears in all possible worlds much like the Everfall. we've also had the name drop of 'Vermund' as a location, but no mention of Gransys, Gran Soren, or any other location from the original game. I for one don't want a 'remake' or 're-imagining' of the original game, i'd like new stories to expand the games universe

A few people have noted that the ocean appears to be on the wrong side for the Bluemoon Tower and Gran Soren - it's possible the setting is a new kingdom north of Gransys, and they're filling out the missing parts of the map.

I'm still not completely convinced this is a prequel. I mean Dragon being back is strange, but I'm the beginning of Dogma 1 he had just shown up. Not unless there was a huge unmentioned time skip before this where this prequel happened. And then, it's been a while to be fair. But i don't remember their being a Arisen recently in Dogma one. Which would mean this would have to be decently far in the past. And if so, the I think it's unlikely that they wouldn't have shown off the Blue Moon Palace still destroy in the same way it was before. In top of that, this new race was left out of Dogma one, so for them to show in the prequel as just being in the area and being pawns. This game would also have to explain what happened to them. Which of course they could do, I'm just not sure how likely it'll be. I think it's possible that we thought we broke the cycle but were wrong. Our breaking that cycle caused a new one which includes these different species of monsters showing up. We may have broken the dust cycle, but who is the one that set the cycle in in the first place, the one that created it. We become basically God at the end of the last game, but it could be what started the cycle is above what we become (like actual God maybe, idk lol). Started a new and more dangerous cycle cause we broke the last 1
