I have the new echo plus the sound is great.. think what we have to keep in mind is these are not just speakers so any improvement is a bounce ... I think its a shame Amazon and Google haven't teamed up to give us the customers the best of both worlds... but when was the end user top priority.... Great video as always

Hello David, you make a good point.You have a constantly growing functionality. The good thing is that Amazon has kept all the echos acting the same no matter what generation. I didn't even touch on the features because of them keeping everything the same other then the sound. The sound is a great bonus and I am glad that Amazon is seeing the value in making the sound better. I personally would like to see google give up the battle for its own device. Recognize amazon as the winner in the effort and work with Amazon. They both have good stuff to offer and would work well together. I am glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you for that. I purchased a Dot during Cyber Monday! Until I saw your videos, I had no idea how powerful it truly was and how programmable it is. My wife has told our friends that I now talk to the Dot more than her! LoL I have Alexa telling me some cool things daily and the grandkids are amazed just as much as I am. I want to personally thank you for enlightening me on the many uses of my Dot and showing me how I was underutilizing it until I saw your videos. Yet, here are two questions I was wondering about; first, is it possible for it to say the day, and date and last, are there light switches you can buy to control sealing lighting? I purchased some Smart Life plugs that I am very happy with, but after viewing your video on Amazon plugs, I'm having second thoughts about my choice going forward! Hello Cathy, to get the echo working everything is in the box. You just a wifi connection and a smart device with the app. In the box for the echo, you get the power supply and the echo. Hi Craig, I live in europe and ordered echo dot at black friday. As you know our plugs are 220 volts. Is echo adapter works with 220 volts? Someone commented on amazon "it is 100-240 volts" but i can't be sure.

Hello Utku, There are a lot of Echo users who watch this channel from Europe and the UK. If you bought yours from the UK amazon or a European amazon you should be fine. That unit should come with the proper 220v power supply. The device uses the power supply to convert and step down the voltage to the 12volts the device might actually run off of. Computers do the same thing. With a lot of computer devices, they are variable voltage. Such as computers, smart phones and others items. It makes sense that someone who comment on the voltage being 100-240 volts. I think it is easier for manufactures to have that option built in to be able to ship to any country. I hope this helps. So far I've scored two free 3rd Gen Dots. One with a Ring Doorbell Pro on Black Friday, the other with Sirius service for a new to me automobile. Black Friday also yielded a 2nd Gen Echo, with a smart plug. So far I find the sound of the Dots to be superior to the Echo. And I like that I can control the equalizer on the Dot. Since I'm not a new adopter, I need to do some work making them communicated with things I do use. Google Calendar and the Out of Milk App will be the first things I want to conquer. Hello Dave P, that is great that you scored 2 free Dots. Those with the Ring Doorbell are a nice match. The black friday deal was nice too with the smart plug. I think the dots are awesome for their size and price. I would say they are the best bang for your buck in the echo line up. You can also do a stereo pair for left and right channels with the two 3rd gen dots. As for calendars, your google calendar can be linked up under the calendar settings. It works well. Craig, I received two of the 3rd Gen Dot's today. I put them in a Group with my 2nd Gen Echo. I played the group for a few hours listening to my Music Playlist, and I noticed some distortion on the Highs on both of the Dot's. I used the EQ to remove the distortion, but I just could not see myself keeping them. Although a great deal for $25, I am sending mine back tomorrow. I went ahead and purchased two more 2nd Gen Models to match my other ones. You had me sold on your Review, but with more listening... The 2nd Gen is much better I think.

Hello njmedic1659, you can pair 2 3rd generation echo dots to create a right and left channel stereo pair of speakers. I can also setup mult-room music groups to play supported Amazon echo music services. Such as prime music, amazon unlimited music, pandora, spotify, iheartradio, tunein and sirius xm. Neither stereo pairing or multiroom music support bluetooth streaming from another device. The nice part is Amazon does offer a large selection of music included with a prime membership. I loved the Echo Dot 3 when I had it. I exchanged it for an Echo Plus 2nd gen for the additional features such as the temp sensor, and the built in hub plus the size and fuller built in speaker. I can say though, the features I wanted weren't a must have for me, so I would have still been very happy with the Dot. The other thing is, I was able to get the Echo Plus on sale from Best Buy, for $100 instead of $150. I also may have gotten a lemon dot as well, it crashed after a couple days use, requiring a power cycle. The plus has worked fine. I still might get a Dot again later on to put in the Kitchen, these are great devices. I think I'll go with the sandstone for the kitchen though, the color scheme there is better suited for white vs charcoal.

If you keep scrolling down you are seeing the equivalent to a webpage of your information. I have never ran into any Alexa app related storage concerns. Yes, that didn't change from the 2nd gen. If you use the aux jack, all audio goes through the connected speaker, or in this case headphones.

Hello Aramis, the only difference that Amazon listed was sound improvement, new look and the ability to pair 2 of them for stereo sound. The original 2 echos had 7 microphones. 6 were built into the speaker grill. the 3rd gen has less but is suppose to be as effective as the 7. found it has had good response. Functionality is the same between the previous version. I hope you enjoy the 3rd generation. I think it is a solid upgrade. You can actually here it from across the room. To answer your question first: Would I buy one of these? Yes. In our home we have 3 echo dots and a single full size Echo, all 2nd generation. Admittedly, I have minor hearing loss. It's very frustrating trying to hear the information I request from each of these dots. So a substantial improvement of sound in both volume and quality is a deal maker for me. Your video is the first time I've heard the difference, I too am impressed. And yes, I would buy two. A "Y" adapter for power would be convenient too if at all possible. But here's a caveat for me. Around Christmas time last year we bought a number of Echo dots for family members at $29.99 each, and since it's already past mid October, I'll be looking for a Black Friday special on the 3rd generation next month. I don't expect a $29.99 price, but I absolutely expect $39.99. At that price point I'll be happy to buy two. Nothing over $39.99. I wouldn't buy them for $41 a piece, got to be $39.99 or lower. If not, I'll keep what I have and move on. Thanks again for enlightening us with such a great video on the subject matter!!

Hello Bill, glad to hear that you like enough to buy some 3 generation echo dots. I see how it can be frustrating with the lower volume of the dots. I am glad that my video helped showed the improvement. It is an impressive device that can give the 2nd gen Echos a run for their money. It would be to share an adapter with 2 devices. It is nice that you can now pair the audio between them for stereo music. Or just pair them as a multiroom music group for sound across all of them. I am hoping that black friday, cyber monday or the rest of the holidays brings some discounts on the new Dots. I can't imagine Amazon will not discount them to $39.99 or lower. Hello JCFreeman31, I see that the sound touch has an audio input 3.5mm. The Echo Dot has a 3.5mm output that can be hooked up to the audio input. I bought 4 of these and will probably return two and get the new plus instead because of the better sound.. I'm having some trouble with the drop in feature. Two of the devices are set up for free time and the other two are in my bedroom. I've tried everything but when trying to connect the drop in it just cancels out! I did a reset of my Android phone and tried again and ONE drop in call was connected. Then when I went to try it again I got the same result. Any clue what could be wrong?

Hello Brian, I am sure the new Echo Plus sounds great. I hope you enjoy them. As for the drop in , that is very odd. The one thing I found in a forum from last year was about having to first enable drop-in using your phone to try and make a drop in call by clicking on the bubble in the Alexa App. Then starting drop in from there. It will then prompt you to turn it on. Even if the devices have it enabled. I don't know if this might help you. I tried to connect echo dot 2 in my car to 4g hotspot and using EE's 4g dongle. When the speed was below 5mbs it would lose connection. Is the 3rd gen the same connectivity min speed as the 2 ?

Hello Hot Fuzz, from what I found to use Alexa and to stream music, you need 512Kbps speed. Here is amazons help about it. www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=201973870 I also saw others having problems connecting amazon devices to the EE Wifi. Everything else would work but there would be problems with the amazon device. Here is a forum post about the fire stick have problems with EE wifi. community.ee.co.uk/t5/4GEE-WiFi/Connecting-firestick-to-4g-ee-wifi-mini/td-p/602551 I also saw another post from the same forum talking about what they did in conjunction with the EE wifi to get another fire stick to work. Hello Jose, for the true echo/Alexa experience the echo dot. The cube is a fire device with Alexa, not an echo device. That distinction is what keeps a handful of features from working on the Cube. For the best of both worlds, the Echo dot & Fire TV stick combo is great. I do really like the FireTV cube. But, it is in my office that already has a couple of echos. I hope this helps. Hello HGST, fro using it, it appears to be able the same as the standard echos. I think it might be a minor improvement. I do feel I have to yell over all the devices when music is too loud. When testing the bass in my latest video, they were all hearing me pretty well over the music. I was speaking loud. I will have to use it more. Thank you for your question and for watching. Hello Chris Cain, I had not been prompted for Amazon to store my passwords. I know the Alexa app and Echos store the wifi information when you setup the devices. I understand there is the two way communication between the echos and amazon. I do not think the password or wi-fi is necessarily stored with Amazon. My theory is that it has more to do with being registered to my account and connected to my Alex App. That is a great question and the passwords and wifi might be stored with Amazon. yes the 3rd gen have very much better sound and looks more beautiful!! .. am I going to replace any of the echo dot 2nd with the 3rd gen?? Maybe !! maybe yes or maybe not !..I have connected those 2nd gen with bluetooth speakers so the sound is not problem at all for keeping the second gen .. and there at the moment are not wall bracket for the 3rd gen .as all the echo dots i have are mounted on the walls around .!..3rd gen has much better sound compared to 2nd gen but they both do the same.. i think i do not need to replace the 2nd with the 3rd but may i replace the echo show with the 2nd gen echo show because of much bigger screen

Hello Bradengels, what you are saying makes sense. Especially if you already have them hooked up to other speakers and have wall mounts. I do have a company that is sending me some mounts for the Gen 3 dot. I am curious to try them out. The gen 2 Echo Show is a nice improvement to sound and the screen size. Amazon also has added some great functionality to both gen 1 and gen 2 shows. Taking better advantage of the screen. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
