@@NickNackpaddywhackMe too, Right when we start sleeping together she notice that I stop breathing when falling asleep. That was 6 years ago, she and the CPAP saved my life. The thing with sleep apnea is that you get used to feel like shi** every day and that feeling becomes the “normal” state of your health until you start using the CPAP and get your first night of good sleep, then you realize how bad your overall health was. For me, I felt like I was 18 years old again, it was truly a life changing moment.

My Galaxy Watch 7 warned me that I probably had moderate to severe sleep apnea about a month ago. I feel bad because I feel like it didn’t get much fanfare, and now here comes Apple with the same feature to great acclaim. Since I started using sleep HQ, I switched to a Apple Watch series 7 for the integrations, but I will forever be grateful for that Galaxy Watch 7 for getting me to contact my doctor and get a sleep study. My AHI was 48. Now it’s always around 1 or 2

The thing is Apple sells way, way more watches than Samsung and iPhone users will always get an Apple Watch, whereas there are many options for android users. That’s why it doesn’t get much attention. Most people just don’t care about Samsung watches.

I have mild need for it and I love it. Every once in a great while I nod off for a short while without the CPAP on and OMG my sleep, if you want to call it that is horrible, my throat is sore, I'm groggy, and I woke up gasping for air! How did I go decades without this CPAP help?! I have a Luna II and it seems to be transferring data back tot the lab and getting better at it all, less random pressure spikes, and more subtle pressure increases, and more rest for me. I have a nasal pillow which feels funny but works perfectly.

Hi Nick, I currently use a Resmed auto CPAP machine - do you think the sleep stage/apnea data the new watch feature offers is a feature worth upgrading my watch for? I’m on the Apple Watch Ultra (1st gen) and I’m a little bummed my model won’t support this feature. I don’t think the Resmed sleep score always correlates with how I feel when I wake up….

I must have been lucky when I first did my sleep study, they gave me setup to record my sleep at home for a night, it had a few sensors. They did want me to sleep on my back and be slightly inclined up, which was hard for me because I'm a side sleeper. But, it was still way better than having to spend the night away from home with a ton of wires on me and someone I didn't know monitoring me as I slept, if I could even sleep. I will never forget my first night using a CPAP machine. It was the best sleep I've had is a long time. I had lucid dreams and it was amazing how rested I felt after getting up in the morning.

My Fitbit wasn't recording any sleep at all for many nights as it was so disturbed. Thankfully I noticed this happening after a period of severe illness and with the other signs realised I probably had sleep apnea. I think I had it before but it got to the extreme falling asleep at work stage after that illness.

Before my sleep apnea doctor retired he agreed and he was supposed to reset and even get me a BiPAP machine . unfortunately that never happened. The new person that took his place was only interested in how much insurance they could get a payment of. Now I am so sleep deprived because I’m lucky if I get three hours of sleep at night . the most disappointing thing about apple watches is that we have to recharge them so frequently. Other competitors can last 3 or 4 times as long. This means when Im camping or a bit off grid - going into the evening fishing for example - the battery charge doesn't last and I have to take a power bank with me. If one uses the apple watch only for sleep information - its an expensive data collector.

My point (and situation) exactly. There can be so many reasons for this I guess. But we need doctors that talk about sleep and all the possible dependencies, and stop focusing on apnea and being self-satisfied because the RESMED show little apnea events. It's killing me to hear them saying "yeah no, the CPAP works great, the machine show you have very few events per hours" .... Rrhaaaaa !!! Makes me angry. CPAP didn't change anything the quality of my nights. I have ADHD, and I know this can be a factor. Complex PTSD as well, with hypervigilance. But how can this be diagnosed in a chamber with plenty of wires and devices around you where hypervigilance is just exacerbated by the environment... These diagnosis methods are a joke :( Good luck. Hope you'll find what can help you.

@@superkikim4916 yeah it's tough. Diagnosing complicated situations like ours. I think mine is jaw related. I can't keep my mouth closed cos tongue doesn't fit properly so it flops open. That's why have to have full face mask. In the end most doctors don't really seem to know what they are doing. Have to watch a tonne of videos and hope you find someone with the same problem.
