Let's be fair about why the price is so high, it's not a normal Spyderco with FRN handles and VG10. It's a custom model brought into production, which ends up costing Spyderco an absolute heap in tooling and machining and training and all the other aspects of rolling out a brand new blade pattern. And then they have to know that it's not a mass appeal knife like the Delica or the Paramilitary. Less predicted sales volume means they need to charge more per unit to recoup the costs of bringing it to market. Also, let's not forget that MSRP ends up being higher than you pay at authorized dealers, and this knife is still 1/2 to 1/3 cheaper than buying a Bill the Butcher folder for essentially the same custom knife. If the price is too high for you, that doesn't mean Spyderco missed the mark, it just means you are not the person this is marketed towards, and that's ok. If you think good knives over $100 are silly, they have the Byrd line and the Value line. If you think $300 is fair for this kind of quality and materials, they make Sebenzas all day every day. If you want a collectable, limited production, high quality knife and the aesthetics and exclusivity of this design speak to you.... You are the person this is meant for!
@WearilyCorrect2 жыл бұрын
If you take into account it is made by (probably) 12 year olds being paid 10 Taiwanese pennies a day then no $600 is not fair. The only Spyderco knives I buy are USA made because when I buy a luxury or high end item, I want my dollars to support Americans.

@@WearilyCorrect Taiwan isn't like China, they have actual work and pay standards. Do yourself a favor and at least read the Wiki article on the country before insinuating Spyderco is using child slave labor, come on lol. Spyderco's Taiwan factory always does the high end custom designed pieces and they have arguably better fit and finish than the Golden, USA knives. Also, Taiwan is busy resisting Chinese influence and pressure, so I don't mind my American greenbacks going towards helping them out. Lord knows we need more Democratic, US-favoring countries in Asia. Free Hong Kong, free Taiwan, etc etc.

@@theKashConnoisseur i might be wrong but i think you are wasting your time with this guy. i still think the price is too high, if reate (yes i know, china) can make integrals for $300 with the same or better fit'n'finish, then the stovepipe suddenly becomes very unattractive. also: my local gun shop has a sebenza with chad nichols damascus and wood inlays for only $50 more, which is honestly clearly a better deal.

At $600.00 not worth the price , knives costing as much or more than firearms ,at a time when people are losing jobs from mandates and inflation this is not something I would buy speaking for myself.
@theKashConnoisseur2 жыл бұрын
To be fair people who are out of work would be ill advised to even spend $300 on a knife. In fact, unless owning a new knife is going to put money in your pocket, I'd think folks out of work would be best served looking for more work rather than making frivolous knife purchases. And of course, if you just need a blade for work, any $10 gas station special will do just fine.

$600 a pop. Well shows you Spyderco missed the mark once again. This is getting boring.
@theKashConnoisseur2 жыл бұрын
It just means you aren't the person this is marketed towards. Folks get upset at the prices Jackson Pollock paintings go for as well, saying "my toddler could throw paint at a canvas too, this isn't special" but like a Pollock, the value in this knife is more than the sum of it's parts. In 5-10 years time, people who spent $600 on this exclusive knife will basically be able to name their price selling on the secondary market. And people who want one of the Bill the Butcher customs that these closely follow are being charged $1000-$2000 for the privilege. If you like the quality and materials but don't want to pay a premium for an exclusive, limited design, try a CRK Sebenza. $300, titanium handle and Reeve integral lock, good blade steel. Relatively available from the usual suspects, with a bit of luck. Great knife, looks a lot like many other knives out there, and there's a lot of Sebenzas in the wild compared to Stovepipes/Bill the Butchers. But that's why they're half the price or less.
