Barnabas never should've started anything with Angelique in Martinique when he knew he was supposed to be faithful to Josette. That's what stirred up all that trouble on the 1795 storyline and eventually condemned him to being a vampire.

Not at all! When Barnabas and Josette looked at each other in Martinique it was love at first sight. Josette never looked at another man, and Barnabas only went wrong by screwing around with Angelique. Other than that, they were meant for each other.
