I love this shoe….I’m 73, 6’3” 168 lbs. I have 2 speeds….slow and slower. Find this shoe to be light, quick, bouncy, stable due to forefoot width, and just enjoyable to run in. I have a short midfoot stride. Just hoping it will go 300 miles and not deaden too much….

This has been my summer shoe of the year so far. I’m a tall Clydesdale runner ( 6’4, 225 llbs) but at 50 miles , it still feels fresh on my feet. I use it for tempo and short fartleks . I plan on getting another pair when I wear them down!

I’ve just passed 200 miles on my pair. I agree with a previous commenter that they have lost a bit of cushion/bounce at this point but I expect to get about 400 miles from them. Have to disagree about using them for daily/slower miles though, it’s exactly what I use them for! I’m a mid foot striker with a high cadence so maybe that’s the difference? Long runs up to 2 hours as well. I prefer a firmer midsole for faster workouts and have been using the Brooks Hyperion Max instead. Thanks for your review.

Yep, definitely a matter of preference when it comes to the firmness. I prefer the soft midsole of the More V4 and Invincible for my slow runs. Thanks for watching!

Excellent review. I have about 400km on my pair and I agree with all of your points. Mine have held up quite well, though perhaps they have lost a bit of their cushion / bounce. They are definitely more of a speed shoe. It’s hard to run slow in these. I wouldn’t wear these for longer runs. Great for 10-15km. They pair well with the SC Elites which I use for longer runs. Overall, I too love these shoes for shorter, faster pace runs.

@@joelm4847 I find it hard to recommend shoes to people since everyone’s feet / gait are a little different. Running shoes are a very personal thing and it may take a little trial and error to find the perfect shoe that works for you. All brands have their entry level candidates. Don’t worry so much about the plated super shoes at the moment - you likely won’t find much benefit if you’re just starting out. Since consistency is super important when it comes to running - especially when you’re starting - pick a pair of shoes that you think look cool and match your style/aesthetic. You’ll be more motivated to put them on and go for a run if you love them. Obviously make sure they fit nicely. Doesn’t hurt to visit your local running shop to try on a bunch. A few starting points: Brooks Ghosts are very popular - I put in about 2000km in Ghosts before branching out into more interesting shoes. Can’t go wrong with the ASICS Novablasts. Nike has the Pegasus. For Hoka you could check out the Cliftons. For New Balance you could check out the 1080v13s. Even the Rebel v4s could be a good starting shoe IMO. Bottom line: find a shoe that speaks to you and begs to be worn - it’ll make it easier to get out and go for those runs!

This shoe is very polarising, and your review is another confirmation. Some people like the Rebel at easy pace, some at tempo. I can’t run anything faster than moderate in them but they feel great for easy miles. For my mechanics they are just too flexible and soft in the forefoot at race pace, I prefer something stiffer in that case. And I’m not an elite, far from it, in fact! Great review nonetheless!

Great review. Picked these up a few weeks ago. I don’t mind them so much for slower running but I agree that you probably don’t want to take them past 10 miles.

This is a shoe I actually wound up returning to the store I purchased from. I'm 200 lbs and was looking for a nice cushion shoe, lightweight and breathable for hot summer days. I did 1 mile in them and just felt I bottomed out immediately. I normally due easy miles in my invincible 3, or prime x strung 2 which are max cushion. Perhaps my view is skewed but these felt really flat and no bounce. They weren't for me. Upon return I got a glycerin 21 Stealth, they are okay but still go back to my invincible 3. I am sure faster lighter runners would enjoy them, but for us heavier slower guys, most likely not.

Great review. My problem with shoes is that there aren't very many out there for runners with wider feet. I also over pronate, so that makes it even worse. LOL. I'd be willing to check these out, though. My regular pace is right around what you described as good for these. Thanks for the review!

My pair just arrived today. Did 7.5 miles on the track at mostly zone 2 (~9:20/mi pace). Got bored for the last couple miles and bumped up the pace a little bit. Initial verdict - I love the shoe and it definitely feels fast. This was about as slowly as I could go in the shoe so ill probably use something else for my true slow, long runs (maybe Novablast 4s or Invincible 3s). Ill probably use this shoe along with the Adizero SL2 for everything else, though.
@FreshBrewRunClub

Yep, totally agree, this is a faster shoe and not the best for the slower runs. I'm still running in it, and it's one of my more reliable shoes in the rotation.

I’ve run 20 miles in them so far and the first run DESTROYED my heels on the Achilles from rubbing and I had to take 4 days off after (I was about 4 miles away from home when my heel started to really hurt). Also, I felt like the foam didn’t hold up and the bottom of my feet felt sore, they’re fantastic 5k shoes but I’m looking for some max cushion trainers to switch up my runs. I’ve been running on old Pegasus 39s and I can say that the upgrade in foam / propulsion was immediately noticeable.

Yeah, I'd be nervous to take them out on more than 8-10 miles. I've been running in the New Balance More V5 for my easy runs, and Superblast 2 for my long runs. Solid options, although the SB2 can be hard to find. The Invincible 3 is also a good shoe, and there's lots of deals to be found now

Could your decision be based around your heel striking? When you are running faster you will naturally go towards mid foot, but those slower easier paces you may return to heel? Mine arrive today so Looking forward to finding out for myself.

I am a heel striker with slow pace, more of a jogger, 8 minute per km. I’ve more v4 and 1080 v12. More v4 is protective but a bit too heavy. I like 1080 v12, as I feel I can run a bit faster with it. I have plantar fasciitis and that is why I am wearing new balance fresh foam for better protection. Was thinking of getting Rebel v4 but your review confirmed this is not for me as a slow runner who need protection. However, I wish to increase my pace. Do you think shoes like Puma Deviate Nitro 3 is a good choice for me?
@FreshBrewRunClub
@FreshBrewRunClub 3 ай бұрын
I agree with your thoughts in the Rebel v4, but I have not run in the Deviate Nitro 3 yet. As far as a comfortable shoe that you can pick up the pace in, the Nike Invincible 3 was pretty good for me. Polarizing shoe, but I liked mine.

for me i feel the bounce was gone after mile 50. its still good but this is going to be one of those shoes that really will die at 300 miles. The better option is the Adizero Sl2. Lightening strike pro is 1000% better than this fuel cell.
