Nice shooting J.C., I really like the lever actions, that one looks so realistic. It's great that they put a mount on it for a red dot. The gun manufacturers are starting to ramp up their game.

Nice gun, and great review! I have a Marlin model 1894 lever action in .357 magnum/38 special that goes back before Remington took Marlin over, and lowered the quality way low. Ruger now owns Marlin, and the quality under them, has greatly improved. I love that Barra has put the mount for a dot sight on this, as, at 70 years old my days of open sight shooting are history.

Ola JC, nice detailed review as always. In the Shot Show 2023 (Part 2) video, this model was the one I liked the most. I was looking forward to seeing this model reviewed by you. I really like lever action and this Barra 1866 looks like a good option to add to my Walther Lever Action. Have a good weekend, cheers

@trevorjameson321310 ай бұрын
I think it shot the BB's really well. Remember he was at 20 yards, and that is really far for shooting BB's. I have a smooth bore BB gun, the Daisy model 35, it's a pump up gun, and it also shoots BB's really well, but there is no way it will group as good as the Barra at 20 yards. It's great at 10 yards though.

@@AirgunDetectives can you do a review on the Barra .357 exterminator, the T4e HDS Home Defense 16 joule shot gun and the Beeman 1085 rifle maybe in future videos? I own all of them and they are impressive especially for home defense if necessary. Keep up the good work.

Very cool! I have the Umarex Legends Cowboy Lever Action, and that is one awesome little air rifle. Love to shoot pellets with it, but it's just .177, which is fine. But I really like .22. Also - was thinking about getting a second Legends Rifle... but now after seeing this, and how Barra has stepped the original version up so much... yeah - might have to grab one of these to compliment the Cowboy. Love the vid! And good shooting.

@ThomasWBaldwin10 ай бұрын
got one yesterday. it is quite accurate and 800 FPS, but the plastic stock should be solid. I will be putting expoxy and some weight in the stock to improve balance. Barra has another one for $70, I 'll get that as well but I like old school rifles.

How can you determine the lever pump model versus the CO2?

The Umarex version takes .177 pellets through the smooth bore barrel quite well. have you tried it with this one? Great review BTW.

One awesome video! And a pretty neat rifle too. I bet the not full five stars came because of the non-adjustable rear sight - which kinda would bug me also.. Nice that the barrel swap is so easy. Woulda preferred two pins myself of course - but if not changing all the time, it oughta work good also long term. Good to tip off people with the using only one co2 cartridge - and "the dime trick". The pellets shot really well.. And now to my personal most interesting thing..: how long and thick is that .22 rifled barrel? (Measures in millimeters preferred, but not a must.😁)

@@AirgunDetectives Actually... More interested in the $50 barrel kits..😁😁 If the barrels outer diameter would be an 11mm minimum, and of a length greater than 444mm long - then the inexpensive inner barrels would be good for projects of installing into a Sig Sauer Virtus or a Canebrake ..changing from .177 to .22, and vice versa.😁😁 Had been looking at Lothar-Walther barrels - but they around €180 in price. Surely 600mm long though.

Hi. There have already been a couple of comments addressing the Cowboy elephant in the room. I know someone probably will, maybe already has, but I'd love to see your take on these two rifles (the lever action cowboy themed rifles from Umarex and Barra, just to be specific). Now I know the Barra is the clear winner at the moment, because they sell barrel kits. It's simple to change them, etc. But I would be very interested in a comparison of a stock Barra and a stock Umarex. The whole nine yards: Cost (versus) What you get in the box The weight and feel The build quality Pros and cons of each rifle Even (if possible) what else uses the same shells as each rifle, since air-gunning is a little like the old west with most companies pushing their own ammo to go with their guns. If you don't feel it'd be a worthwhile video for you to put together, do you have sufficient pull to get someone else to do a good job with it? Either way, fantastic video. I love the content; keep it coming.

I recently received my 22 version, and upon inspection, I've noticed a few areas of concern. Firstly, the imitation brass parts appear overly shiny, giving them a somewhat artificial appearance. Additionally, I've observed that the rear sight is obscured when folded down with the red dot rail attached, which may affect functionality. Furthermore, the lever, trigger, and hammer feel somewhat plasticky, detracting from the overall quality. Notably, the hammer exhibits an unusual vibration upon triggering. Lastly, there are noticeable wear marks on the inner finish, suggesting potential binding issues with the lever mechanism. These observations raise some questions regarding the product's construction and durability.

Would have been nice to see the .177 Pellet version. "Especially...the Alloy .177 Pellets" 22 is TOO big for Co2 pistols or rifles, 22 is best for PCP or break barrels.
