But I also think it makes more sense developmentally too potentially as they're recovering & returning to their roots, which may mean they'll go for something not too far off in terms of story & world; a classic Arkham game set in the same general contemporary period with the same general aesthetics & gadgets. Not a future-set sequel that has them creating a new looking Gotham with a different aesthetic, designs, and futuristic gadgets. And to your niche point, WB itself might even agree and want them to go with a take that's more recognizable & established. They've been reports in the past that was apparently one of the reasons WB cancelled the Damian Wayne sequel, as he was deemed too unknown compared to the classic Bruce Wayne Batman.

The same Rocksteady that delivered the Arkham series, gave us SS:KTJL, despite all the misinformation to the opposite. And even Sefton Hill was behind its direction even with all the fearmongering around his departure. So I mostly just care about them going back to formula which has been pretty established by this point (even WB Montreal had a crack it) and just expand over it.

I would LOVE another Arkham game but I just can't trust that they'd do it right anymore. It's not just that Suicide Squad was bad, it's that it was reportedly expected to be a BILLION-DOLLAR game. They BELIEVED in Suicide Squad. They thought it was going to breakout against Overwatch, Valorant and Fortnite. Every studio makes bad games once in a while but to trust so fully in a game that almost any gamer could have foreseen failing shows SOMEONE running the show doesn't know what people want and THAT'S gonna be what spells doom for Rocksteady. I have no doubt there's tons of talented devs working there but Suicide Squad proves bad leadership can tank any project they lead.
