Being used to 40k it's really weird to see proper fight only begin on turn 3 instead of both armies almost non existing at that point. Seams much more fun this way.
@bastiandeininger66542 жыл бұрын
It is, you should try it. Age of Sigmar is - at least at the moment - a better game than 40k, with simpler and more streamlined rules, yet more tactical depth somehow
@ajaxtaur2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, but you very quickly see games going the same way. They brought it up in this very batrep where "wow, this became another battle for the center... but I'm sure others won't be like that." I could only respond, "Yeah, they will be."
@ajaxtaur2 жыл бұрын
@@bastiandeininger6654 I think they're both very mediocre games, to the point where it's hard to call one better than the other. They each do some things very incredibly wrong, while having a few good points that the other can point to and say, "SEE?! I'm better!!!" AoS has army-ADHD; flat-to-wound rolls; a melee focus that leaves shooting armies as kings in mission, terrain, and army design; "cookie-cutter" army design where you have next to no control in list-building unless it's a pre-approved idea; "superhero and his friends" army philosophy; *over*-simplified rules; and the AWFUL idea that is the ability to get double-turns. I'm not sure what you mean by "more tactical depth," because 40k is pretty on-par with AoS on that department. It's just not as glaringly obvious as AoS, because 40k tends to be more fatal without good terrain. 40k isn't without its own flaws, though. It has plenty of sacred cows holding it back, including Space Marine fetishism (Space Marines having to feel "super" despite being *a majority of the playerbase* ); falling into the same traps as AoS with the "superhero and his friends" army philosophy; older designs from prior editions informing current trends; old designs failing to keep up with power creep in *model design* (there's only so much power you can strap onto an existing Leman Russ's guns, which is why the new Dorn has 5 extra guns stapled to it by comparison); and an unwillingness to let anyone die. And neither has alternating activations. **TL;DR** - Both games suck so much that comparing them mechanically is like saying you prefer the smell of spoiled eggs over spoiled milk. Enjoy the game for the cool models and move on from trying to prove yours is worthwhile.

Chef, regarding dispelling endless spells: the endless spell rules say that a priest can attempt to dispel and endless spell at the start of the hero phase, like a wizard, but you chant 1 fewer prayers during that turn. Now, you don’t chant prayers in Beard’s turn, so your priest can dispel endless spells in the enemy turn with no downsides! Also, endless spells cannot he cast in a turn they were dispelled, so another reason to dispel in Beard’s turn!

Great show, gents! If I may recommend: many competitive events only allow the grand strategies and battle tactics from the current season. (In other words, faction specific ones are left out). Many competitive players (including myself) find that when both players are playing from the same set of tactics and strategies, it makes for a better game.

About the point Chef makes at roughly 42:00 in this mission you cannot contest objectives that are not activated, therefore you cannot even hold them. if you grab that one active objective in the middle but have no models within range of your home objective you will still score Hold 1 AND Hold more than the opponent
@thepastrychef80142 жыл бұрын
Yeah, thats how we played it in round 1, I meant more for the subsequent turns, but I saw it was covered in the FAQ 😅
@bakuchidancer2 жыл бұрын
In this scenario you can CONTROL objectives. You just can't SCORE from them. Important difference actually. For one it matters with battle tactics. For second if you control objective turn 1 even if you can't score from it you can leave it turn 2 and you still will score from it when it is activated.

Be'lakor was still worth his points in this game. Being able to basically take out one unit of your choice for one round is HUGE, he is still a 2 spell caster, and the two Mornfangs he killed were already about half his points. He is not lackluster. Just don't let him fight your opponent's strongest melee unit. StD already have plenty VERY strong units and options. It's ok that Be'lakor is "only good"
