Our TRUSTED Bayonetta Data Mining Expert Rikan just dug up these amazing screenshots of those Bayonetta Variants from Chapter 14 of Bayonetta 3. I’m going to be breaking down the new designs and their back stories.
We are already familiar with the Variant that is based off Bayonetta’s first design, and demo look, but it’s really cool to think that in the lore, this Bayonetta was fighting in a place where there was a winter climate. I’m thinking this Variant was around the northern part of the Russian continent.
But you have this amazing Variant who is based off another concept from the Eyes of Bayonetta book which is another Bayonetta with blonde hair. The thing they changed where the flower motifs instead of the sun ones where even her Umbran Watch looks more similar to Rosa’s. This make me think that this Variant didn’t really get over Rosa’s death and based majority of her looks and styles, of her mother. You even have these awesome needle swords which remind me of a roses thorn, which make me think that her style of fighting was way more bloody - which would be fitting if she was so broken about her mother’s death.
What really showcases the maritime vibe is the Pirate Bayonetta which omg would’ve likely been using the Harpoon Weapon and Kraken Contract before Dark Eve. Omg I think this is going to be the most plausible theory here but what if the Kraken and Harpoon we use in Bayonetta 3 was originally from Pirate Bayonetta since Cassiopeia was rumored to have been used by a Heike General to fight against demons hiding near the ocean floor. But potentially years later, was defeated by Dark Eve once she invaded her timeline. This is my favourite design aesthetic-wise as she’s so hot, but her coat is what gave it away for me being my favourite out of the bunch, I’m a sucker for epic coats.
But then you have the typical Witch Bayonetta which looks more like a League character, but this is what I was hoping for back then where we’d have the pop cultural witch Variant or outfit of Bayonetta arrive. She has beautiful scarlet hair along side a staff that looks like an 1800’s light post which make me think that she awakened sometime during the Victorian Era. Maybe she was looked upon as a sort of cleric within her time alive - I like to think also that she may have encountered or dealt with the problem of Jack the Ripper in her timeline as she may have been an advocate for women which I think is quite interesting to theorise about. This was also based off the Bayo 1 Art Book but they included her staff in game instead of her Scarborough Fair guns.

Just additional info that may not be related, but useful for Bayo lore: I’m glad that we have more coverage on the Lumen side of things as well as the real-world research done by the art team. The only slight difference with that version is the placement of her beauty mark cuz the Bayonetta we play as in Bayonetta 1 has the beauty mark on her chin while the one that is Viola’s mother has the beauty mark under her eye.

So. We know these outfits, plus some more, are already modelled and are in-game, and we have been shown these from the ending chapters. Since we got the keys/demo as "DLC" I wonder how likely it is, that we might get some additional content in the future, even if its just the outfits being unlocked in the shop. Or worst case, being put on the nintendo shop for a few dollars per outfit...

the puffy skirt could've been an elemental sort of power; another forgotten ways that stemmed from the umbra? if anything, she probably went further and contracted Zephyr (greek west wind) which could be another way to introduce new infernals? also if the pirate one was the first to obtain cassiopeia(?) do you think she contracted another deep sea infernal? maybe closer to a colossal squid sort of demon?

Maybe an Umibozu! In Japanese mythology they're basically depicted as giant silouhettes that roam the ocean around Japan. When they appear, calm seas turn tumultous and they either break the ship or demand a bucket or barrel from the sailors then drowns them in it

Hey @Rakunx, I have a question for you. Since the ending of Bayonetta 3 shows Bayonetta going to inferno. Is it possible that she turns into a demon like Alraune did when she killed herself ? If so, I wonder what would be her adventures in Inferno. Would she fight other demons to stand out from the other demons ? Would she keep a very humanoid form like Rodin ? Would she help and give her power to another Umbran witch like Madama Butterfly ? Would Brave Cereza return to save/make a deal with her ? Anyways, I hope you can answer my questions 😅👍

The pink and blue variants are just recolored Queen outfits with different hair, unfortunately. It’s nothing to get too worked up over.. There is also a witch with black and red gradient-style hair, but in Jeanne’s bayo2 hairstyle and length, with a black outfit that might be of D’Arc variety, which might’ve been a Jeanne slipping past…

My personal headcanons for these variants : 1. The first variant might be jeanne instead of bayonetta where in an alternate universe jeanne is the one who was sealed away instead of bayonetta. 2. The second variant assume the victorian era where she is respected and feared by the people because of her power. Instead of guns Rodin gave this variant a staff. 3. The third variant may be a bayonetta that lives in a colder climate ( maybe she speaks another language like russian ) 4. The fourth variant developed an interest in human medicine and worked as some army nurse and maybe there might be a soldier Luka and a general Jeanne. 5. The fifth variant maybe lived in the victorian era back when pirates existed and became a feared pirate in the sea. And uses the kraken as a way to destroy rival ships or start a storm at sea 6. The sixth variant is a costume designer for theater productions ( perhaps ballet costumes? ) and bases her magic suit on her designs. And maybe contracted Baal due to her music theme. 7. The seventh variant probably awakened in the far future where technology is advanced and bayonetta uses advance tech with magic. She probably contracted the umbran clock tower because it's a mechanical demon. 8. The eight variant awakened underneath a body of water in japan and became a well respected princess and warrior ( due to her magic ) and jeanne might be a european entering japan in hopes of making bayo remember her past.

I have a theory (which could be easily disproven or already implied) Could it be possible that there are two arch-eve origins/brave cerezas? Since the third cereza is implied to be our brave Cereza from the first game, but that was from the first Bayonetta's universe (Scarborough fair/the witch of remembrance). And since Bayonetta 1 and 2 are considered to be alternate universes, it says on the second Bayonetta's(love is blue/the witch with discerning eyes) description that she went through the same events that the first Bayonetta went through. Could it be that she also created another brave cereza?
