💜 The ENTIRE Bayonetta 3 Timeline, Ending, and Multiverse EXPLAINED

What if I told you the whole timeline of Bayonetta 3 looked like this... I’ll provide evidence of EVERYTHING that led me to this conclusion, and even something that might be proving Bayonetta’s return. The Faeries, How Luka got his power, the ending debate, the Variants and the Multiverse, the Dark Adam and Eves, and even Sigurd’s plan.
The multiverse starts with Bayonetta 1 being it’s own timeline, who’s now confirmed to be called the Witch in Remebrance, and according to Bayonetta 3 and actually, Bayonetta 2’s modern setting is proof of this, she doesn’t change her outfit and her story ends here. Within her story, she raises the Little One who we know is Brave Cereza which we play as in the third game.
Now onto Bayonetta 2, according to Bayonetta 3, this is a separate timeline as well who also was the one who saved us at the end of Bayonetta 3. She’s known as the Witch with Discerning Eyes. Now did she experience the same events that the Witch in Remembrance experienced? Yes! Just in her own timeline since ”she seemed to have walked an ALMOST identical path” and that Love is Blue and Scarborough Fair are referenced to be made for certain Bayonetta’s in the multiverse as well.
Also, that B4 warehouse theory where 1-3 is one saga, while B4 and B5 are another saga, seems to be quite the cool coincidence now…
The extreme change in technology between the two games, I think could either be an extreme advancement which is quite rare, or just that this part of Europe or Vigrid wasn’t as advanced as the United States.
I think the latter since Enzo and Luka both have evidence of an experience similar to what happened in the first game.
Anyways, there is the 3rd Interpretation that some of you put forward which was that Bayonetta 1 and 2 are the same person while Bayonetta 3 is Brave Cereza. While I love that, and there is certainly evidence to prove it, Luka and Enzo have referenced their own recollections that almost mirror what happened in the first game, and the signature gun descriptions show that they are separate people who walked the same path.
It’s important to know also that all Arch Adams aka Luka Variants across the Multiverse have been experiencing voices throughout their growth all leading up to Chapter 13 in Bayonetta 3 after all their souls merge into one.
Lukaon, who is a Luka Variant,is a Faerie King somewhere in the multiverse, but leads the faeries in the secluded part of the Human World - that forest in the secret chapter is likely Brave Cereza’s world’s version of this.

Bayo's mole placement between the three games sightly varies, so the three Bayos are from different timelines. Given that Love is Blue, Scarborough Fair and Colour my World has 1, 2 and 3 holes respectively, I think that Bayo 2 existed first, and that Bayo 1 was created when Balder was sent to the past with Loptr inside him (that's why the Bayo 1 logo shows up right after). Bayo 3 is the little one from 1/2, as you said.

And creatures like the fire spider aswell since they can talk. Like maybe there is no contract with gammorah but Bayonetta still uses him because he is useful/powerful. And he acts out like an animal in captivity. I know in 3 Rodin mentions bayo's contract with him when he refused to finish off the jelly monster. But still an interesting idea to think she forces it out and it takes what it can get ATM, i.e. whatever paradiso being she serves up to him.

I don't mind if Viola is in future game but to me, a huge portion of why I love the Bayonetta games is the character of Cereza. Her camp, cocky demenor and sexy witt is a huge factor for why I love the games. I have enough games with a comic relief main character that kicks ass like Viola. There's no way Cereza won't make a return somehow.

When I first heard about Bayonetta, I was playing either Super Smash Bros for Wii U or Ultimate. I was like, “She’s interesting.” So I bought Bayonetta’s 1 and 2 for the Wii U and Bayonetta 1 was kind of scary. But I got used to it and now I love her games. I even bought all three for the switch. I hope things will be good in Bayonetta 4 and both her and Jeanne are back.

There is a reference in Bayo 3 where Enzo says "I hope not one of her pets got loose again" which means what happened in Bayo 2 with Gomorrah. I still believe we play the same person in 1, 2 and 3.

There is the possibilty that the events of Bayo 3 has the similar events of that from the previous game. you can argue that the Prologues of Bayo 1 and Bayo 2 were Cereza Bayonetta's versions of the events of each game.

Lemme just say that all 3 Bayos: 1, 2, and 3 have intentional mole placements that are different. So they are not the same Bayonetta. Similar events just happen in some parallel universes especially considering the overlap of events between 1, 2, and 3. Gomorrah still gets loose in Cerezita's timeline, and Bayo 2 had her former moment as a witch with no memories considering she references it in Bayonetta 2. Not to mention the timeloop intentionally placed via Bayonetta 2's ending to link Bayo 1, 2, and 3's universes and similar parallel universes together that are born from new timelines.

This is a really good video but it’s kind of sad that someone has to go to this length and go this far into detail to try and explain to us what even happened at all. The biggest letdown about Bayonetta 3 for me was that there was SO much new lore but that very little of it was properly explained in the main story. There were several moments that just left me astonished, throwing my hands up and making a face, like “what the fuck?”. The Umbra clock tower being an infernal demon, Bayo somehow being able to survive ripping her heart out several times and being impaled by Luka’s claws, Lukaon just going “what’s up, I exist” without context, Jeanne - with her immaculate awareness and reaction timing - unable to dodge Sigurds laser (which, mind you, takes a few seconds to set up and fire!), no explanation as to why Luka suddenly has powers, Viola crying harder upon Brave Cerezas death (and calling her mummy) than Whittingham Fair Bayo’s death (who is her actual mom), I could go on. Sure most of it is vaguely answered in character descriptions and whatnot but Bayo 3’s story left me scratching my head in confusion and disappointment. I can’t imagine I’m the only one.

1:44 Now I'm even more confused, in Bayonetta 2 chapter 5 there is a scene where Luka is telling the Eyes of the World lore and Bayo remembers herself killing Balder while wielding the Scarborough Fair gun set but, if she and Bayo1 are two different people then how could she remember using those guns? I'm honestly pretty glad with how things wrapped up in 3. Now let me explain why: with 3 constantly elevating the action and Bayonetta's abilities, I was starting to wonder how a new Bayonetta game could possibly top the heights in 3. I know we asked ourselves a similar questions after 1 and 2, and Platinum did successfully deliver in making Bayonetta even more insanely over-the-top! But with the plot of 3, how could they go beyond the multiverse? I know it's not impossible because Bayonetta is a game, and the devs can do whatever they want, but I also think this is the best for the dev team. It ensures they really do get to scale things back a bit and tell truly new stories with a new character and gameplay. As a creative myself, I can say it is satisfying to try and do new things and approach things differently. I know people are upset for various reasons, but I prefer an ending like this for a character like Bayonetta because the alternate option I was worried about was having Cereza become a tired out and boring character. It's ok for arcs to end, and be sad about that, but the characters we love will always be there with us! And especially for stories like Bayonetta, fan theories and ships are still valid approaches to appreciating the characters. When it comes to large fandoms, we own the characters just as much as the people who made them. We lift them up and share the joy they bring us! So yeah, it's ok to be upset, but I hope more people can also look forward to the future if the series and can respect the decisions of the devs, because I know it probably wasn't such an easy thing to do. Anyway, those are my thoughts. Let me know what you all think and be respectful to each other, Bayonutters! ❤

I think the three bayo merged because they are linked together in some sort : bayo 2 events led to balder being possessed by The god of chaos (that, since he is a god of chaos, must have known about the multiverse and how to travel from one to another) thus making the events of bayo 1, and then bayo 1 take care of young cereza (brought back from another timeline thanks to Aesir controlling balder) that become bayo 3. They « merged » because their timelines are linked and synced I think. Anyway, amazing video !! I was stunned when I saw Loki’s card in Bayonetta’ s hands, I was convinced we would see him hahaha !!

Understand, every universe was restored. Cuz Bayo 1&2 do return to their universes after Brave Cereza was weakened. And the rest of the alternates are back. But every Luka in the multiverse is gone. Cuz they all merged with Brave Cereza universe Luka. And while Bayo 1&2 merged with Brave Cereza, it was only temporary and the spell wore off which allowed them to return to their world. So they are back in their home universe. Including all the alternate Bayonetta’s that died (except Wittingham Fair Bayo. Why? Idk.) Forcing Cereza to be weakened. But I like Bayonetta 2 being a separate universe from Bayonetta 1. Cuz Bayo 2’s characters seems a bit different from the first game in terms of behavior. Which seems to indicate that Bayonetta 2’s timeline is not only similar but still has differences. Everyone has a different perspective. And that’s to be expected. Different reality means everything is different matter what.

Honestly I’m of the mind that the destruction of the eyes of the world is what caused the multiverse to exist fully separating all timelines into their own realities with bayo2 being the only one to meet and face Loki, Loptr, and aeisir (since he’s a singular entity like the other realm creators/Paridiso and inferno residents), but the disturbance aeisir created was felt across all of the realm of chaos, causing the same events at the start of bayo2 in cereza’s world but not leading to Jeanne’s death(due to her being the strongest bayo), which is why cereza’s still summons Gomorrah, doesn’t recognize the tarot cards(poking fun at them as a solitaire deck), and why Enzo thinks one of cereza’s demons got loose. This also explains why cereza is called the alpha eve origin, because she was the time traveler that started this mess of a multiverse

Ok, hear me out, what if Bayo from "the end" is brave cereza instead of a completely seperate timeline? That way, Bayonetta 2 can still make sense with the whole Enzo lines in the prologue(him explaining bayo's backstory) AND Brave cereza can fight Aesir in addition of never being dormant under a lake, and therefore become the most powerfull Bayonetta! It also creates a pretty cool pattern of showing brave Cereza's timeline in the beggining of Bayo 1 and 2!

Bayonetta One is the original story. The others are variations. So much so that Bayonetta quotes "it seems like only one of us has made it this far". But Bayonetta still remembers Cereza (B3). The universes have been restored and probably B4 can return to classic Bayonetta to save Cereza from hell.

I believe we play as the same Bayonetta in both 1 and 2. The Witch In Remembrance that appears at the end of Bayo 3 is just a different Bayonetta who went through a similar story, kinda like the Bloody Fates variant. The other Bayo that appeared at the end also might not be the same Bayonetta because we have no reason to believe she's the same Bayo. In the Multiverse, the smallest choice can create a new timeline so it's literally impossible to know which Bayonetta is which. Just believe whatever explanations you want. I promise you'll put more thought into it than the writers did lmao.

I think the writers know exactly what they are doing. They plan the story ahead for at least one entire game. The story of Bayonetta 1 is connected to Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3. They are also dropping hints for the future title. I think they put in way more thoughts into the story than any of us did so far.

This is probably a cringe theory But here's why I think jeanne has a great relationship with cereza. The theory is she's Arch-Lilith, the first customer of Rodin. In the bayonetta 1 timeline, she's the one who goes against God's plan (since Loptr was merged with Balder's soul) she sealed Arch-Eve, that's why in Bayonetta 2, Loptr is so desperate to kill her and send her to hell, this way arch-eve can serve her purpose which is to deliver him the left eye. Eve and Lilith both betrayed God. It may seem Rodin (the lucifer of bayonetta), Arch-Eve, Arch-Adam and Jeanne has deeper connections. (Also let's not forget alfheim; the realm of light elves, exist in bayoverse, which is why I am not surprised lukaon exist)

There’s only one Aesir and therefore only one Loki and one Loptr. Bayonetta 2’s lore on him proves as much as it states that Aesir perceived an innumerable number of possibilities, and that whatever he perceived became reality. So he created the multiverse. There’s zero reason to believe multiple Bayonetta fought multiple Aesirs or Jubileus’. This is why Bayonetta having Loki’s cards in Bayonetta 3 debunks this whole theory, she has to be the same as the previous two bayonetta’s.

I thought about the bayo games connections, here is my opinion. The "origins" timeline -"B-0" The result consequence of B2 timeline - corrupted by aesir "Father" travels to B0 , interrupting the timeline and creating B1 multiverse branch. As was said in anime - he lived about 500 years and there was flashbacks where he did something terrifying to withes to obtain the eye. And Bayo1 was sealed to be protected from him. In B1 timeline also was the late interruption in B0 of bringing the origin cereza to B1 and after returning, the B3 branch was created as the B0 "original" straight continuation. Sealed by circumstances and fate itself, 3 of bayos - the only ones who did go so far to the "finale" and resonated with each other by the tight connection of fate) + There was a mention that there are not a lot of multiverse zones with fae dimention, and the 3 of bayos canonically are using pistols made of faes

The only thing I disagree with is that 2 and 1 are separate time-lineto begin with. I think the name "Witch in Rememberance" implies that this Bayonetta is still searching for her lost memories, which would not be the case at the end of Bayonetta 1. I think the title "Witch with Discerning Eyes" references how Bayonetta 2's Bayonetta has visions and experiences from both the Bayonetta 1 time-line and the Brave Cereza time-line. Essentially, I think Bayonetta 1 is the Bayonetta we get if she never got her memories back, Bayonetta 3 is the Cereza in the altered time-line of 1, and Bayonetta 2 is Bayonetta 1 with the memories of Brave Cereza which she got because of multiverse nonsense. It also works thematically as to why these three would be there at the end to fight singularity and why they can fuse; they were once the same Bayonetta.

Such a great video! Thanks for posting. I’m a huge fan of the games and the ending really threw me for a loop. I have very strong feelings about it. I hope that the next game is at least viola figuring out to bring Bayonetta and Luka back. Personally, I think Viola is cute, but she’s best served as a side character and who she is doesn’t really fit the brand of what Bayonetta games are. To me, it’s just weird for the devs to make the fans wait this long for this game just to change the main protagonist (allegedly). I respect the fact that you’re okay with Viola, but I definitely am not. 😅

I think bayo 1 and bayo 2 being different universes makes things more complicated.... The discriptions didn't exactly say they where from different bayonettas like bayo 1+2 where separate. Just that the bayo who owned the guns weren't from the Bayonetta that we play as in 3... Also going by rodins description there shouldn't be multiple aesirs and jubileus .. It should only be one .... Only those born in the world of chaos have counterparts aesir and jubileus are like Rodin....keep in mind aesir tried to escape from that world into another one in bayo 2 Bayo holding Loki's cards and the dolls from one didn't mean they where from bayo... Rodin or viola could've brought them over from other universes to help understand the topic of multiversus. given bayo didn't recognize them when she studied them. This bayo in her discription survived the witch hunts together with Jeanne unlike the original... She'd never see those dolls. Aesir was likely never fought if we're going by rodins description since he'd already had been defeated in another world. The arch eve part didn't make sense either given the Egyptian Jeanne was confirmed a arch eve and Rosa... It's likely it's just a power status ... Arch eve was never a remnant of some deity or from other sites some fated love story. It was just the strongest person in that world most likely

Wait, I think I just figured out how 1 & 2 split. The end of 2 has Aesir try to flee to another time. Balder intervenes. What if that sent him with Aesir into an alternate past, that being Bayonetta 1’s past? That makes 1’s timeline a branch of 2’s timeline. That means the events of 1 never happened for Bayonetta from 2, but she learned who she was the same way Bayonetta from 1 did, that is, her Left Eye of Darkness resonating with Brave Cereza not forgetting who she was. This doesn’t explain why Bayonetta from 2 has amnesia, but it explains everything else.

What's telling us Bayo 2 did not happen right after Bayo 1 in the same timeline? For all we know, the Bayo with the second outfit in Bayo 3 could be from the Records of Time from Bayo 2. Also, the Records of Time in Bayo 1 could be happening in the same timeline. They are falling from the Umbran Clock Tower's cliff, and as seen in Bayo 2, it leads to the Crescent Valley. Cereza doesn't appear to show off her Umbran Watch during the fight, which may indicate this event happened in both timelines.

The biggest hole in their retcon is Jubileus and the only way I know to rectify that is Jubileus was summoned in both games. Bayonetta2 begins with Balders death near her remains and Im aware the statue wasnt her true form but a vessel. The only way it’d work retroactively is if Jubileus is still alive and was merely summoned twice by Balder. Which would then indicate that she’s also still very much alive and sleeping in Paradiso. At least her true form is.

Isn't the Gates of Hell kind of an overlap with Inferno? Maybe Brave Cereymza and Luka can occasionally visit? Also, calling it now, Brave Cereza's Soul might be a weapon in Bayo4 for Viola. Possibly with a Moon name in reference to Fly Me to the Moon, Moon River and Moonlight Serenade? In Bayo2 didn't Rodin say he had dibs on her soul? Different Bayo granted but still, makes me wonder. Though, it's a fun mental image to imagine that Bayo3 is now living in Inferno with Madama Butterfly. I still wonder if Butterfly is an ancestor of Bayo and Rosa, and by extension Viola. In Madama Butterfly's entry, it states that she is ?around or over? Five-hundred (500) years old. So it's actually more likely that she knew them as a human rather than an ancestor. Or maybe if she did meet as a demon, then the close bond with Cereza meant she grew to know Rosa as well....maybe also got in trouble for joining in on some mischief, who knows. Even I don't want to get into trouble from Rosa. 🤣😂

I actually have this little theory that that because of the Madama Butterfly opera/play, she may have been an Umbra Witch, maybe even a high ranking Witch now thanks to Queen Butterfly being her true form!, that she may have met them at some point from Japan to get reports from Vigrid. And for whatever reason she grew close to Rosa or Cereza (if Rosa was locked up already and it was by coincidence that she met Cereza) and then just vowed to help her because she too saw potential. Or maybe she and Rosa fought together at some point. You're right in saying it was during the Witch Hunts, so maybe she died during that time, but could be before it really took off since we don't know how long that war was going on for before the climatic battle in Vigrid. 💪😎💕

What a great video and timeline! I just think there is a slight mistake with your theory of multiverses existing since 2009. I agree that Bayo 2’s records of time was different and bayo and the masked Lumen met differently there, definitely could be a parallel world. Although Bayo 1’s records of time doesn’t seem to be another parallel universe. You say it is because Bayo isn’t sealed and is fighting with Jeanne but remember that the order is: Clock tower breaking, Bayo and Jeanne fighting on the falling clock tower, Rosa dies, Bayo and Jeanne see Rosa dead, Bayo unable to fight due to her mother’s passing, Jeanne protects Bayo by sealing her in as the stone. We know that’s the order because that’s what happens in Bayo 2 when we fight alongside Rosa. First come the events of the falling clock tower, then Rosa dies and Bayo 1 gets sealed, or in Brave Cereza’s case, her watch protects her, snaps out of her mourning and that’s what opens her eyes to her true potential.

I don't know if you noticed but if you pay attention to Rodin's hat it has a symbol I think each symbol represent the next game as for example Bayonetta 1 his hat jewelry it's a symbol of Bayonetta 2 and his hat accessory in Bayonetta 2 symbols is for Bayonetta 3 but now as I played Bayonetta three there's a different symbol on his hat I'm guessing that's for Bayonetta 4 but that's just my own little theory I hope you look into it? I think that the Bayo from 3 is the same Bayo we've always known, and that the Bayo 1 and 2 are some sort of stacked experience. In the Bayo 2's bio it says that she's the most similar variant to Bayo 3. In the way where Bayo 3 experienced the events from Bayo 1 and 2 and also 3, and Bayo 2 experienced the events of game 1 and 2 and Bayo 1 just the events of the first game, as I said before stacked experience. Also Enzo mentions though out the game events of the first two games, of cereza losing control of Gomorrah and beating up angels.

I don’t think we can use the descriptions of Scarborough Fair and Love is Blue as evidence suggesting B1 and B2 are two separate witches. The Bayo in “The End” is seen also using Love is Blue which could imply that the guns are not all unique to every witch. More evidence of this is Jeanne’s guns: the Jeanne from B1, B2, and B3 all have “All 4 One.” This cooould mean that the B2 that appeared in B3 was the Bayo from “The End” but there really isn’t any solid proof to prove these theories definitively.
