I'm curious to see what armor and weave coils you think are best! Until then I'm experimenting with using the new weaves to make up what my preferred armor lacks. I thought about using the NTW with one elite infiltration and one elite silent strikes weave. But decided to try the UW with two elite weapon techniques weaves instead.

Congratulations on reaching 50k subscribers ArkTix. The journey to a million subscribers begins with vids like these. Quick note; I've noticed, after extensive testing, that the best coil setup for the Last Argument Drill Spike is actually 5 concentration coils. The ONLY thing you miss out of with this coil setup is faster draw and reload speed. The 5 concentration coils, especially when boosted with an overdraw potion will bring down ANY machine with one well-placed drill spike which of course opens it up for further moves. Furthermore, 5 concentration coils actually does MORE damage (especially knockdown buildup) than 5 overdraw or even 5 knockdown coils. It has to do with how concentration damage is pre-calculated before the shot ever even touches the machine.

@@ArktixOfficial For about 2 hours, I tested the knockdown power build-up on the Last Argument on the Apex FireClaw as it shares the highest knockdown threshold with the SlaughterSpine. Elite OverDraw coils do indeed knockdown all machines. The trouble is the buildup takes much longer and, unlike elemental buildup, machine animations can actually reset the knockdown buildup. As I said earlier, Concentration coils gives you literally everything EXCEPT a faster draw and reload speed which, to me, is an utterly moot point because scoring a knockdown with a single drill spike from your Last Argument changes the outcome of a fight. Incidentally, elite critical coils on the Ancestor's Return is just nasty. Combo that with Elite OverDraw Coils on your SkyHammer for easy brittle or drench and 90% of machines will be dead in second. It does not spec well for Arena runs, but I don't care about the Arena :)

Great video! Missed one mistake that someone pointed out: You can't equip blastslings with elite crit, sadly. So elite overdraw, concentration or agility are the current best options. Even in the DLC was the blastsling done dirty

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this video on coil load outs on weapons so kudos to you for putting the time and effort into it. I’ve been on the seemingly never ending journey of trialling different coils on different weapons and usually end up in disappointment and frustration because of either weak to no value output from those coils. However, I have found that loading Iriv’s Downfall sharpshot bow with 5 Elite Crit coils does the job quite well. I do like the new legendary sharpshot bow from Burning Shores, but it doesn’t quite do it for me as Iriv’s bow does. Anyway, you’ve done an awesome job with this video and a BIG thanks to you for that. Looking forward to a weave loadout video based on the new weaves from Burning Shores, should you be contemplating doing one. Take care Arktix and thanks again!

I’ve put instant brittle coils on my hunter bow. While removing the components, there is a max chance of brittle stat which can be followed by high impact damages .

I use to use the hunter bow to deal damage on machines, but since your coil recommendation a year ago, I’ve been quite fond of using the tear coils on it, because it literally takes one maybe two shots to tear off parts. I use the Spector gauntlet for damage, as well as the DRILL SPIKES!!!! 😎 and the warrior bow. But it really depends on the machine and size of it which one of these I use more in a fight so I’m Not using up too much resources from all three

Small correction. Putting 5 Sharpshot 100% Coils is actually necessary in some cases on Ultra Hard, as if I'm not mistaken, some parts do need over 1,000 Tear damage to tear the material off.

Yeahh a new Horizon Arktix video !Gotta love this ! Very clear and detailled as usual, ty man. For coils optimisation I always look at the relative increase for any stats. For example, if my elite weapon has +45% concentration dmg (built in + 2 coils ) i will try to boost overdraw dmg with the last coil slot because +15% overdraw dmg will relatively increase more my dmg than if I added a +15% concentration dmg getting to 60% total increased concentration dmg. I Think that way because I assume that coils increases stack additively and not multiplicatively. Thats why I would argue that +12% explosive dmg could be more than +15% overdraw or concentration dmg on a spike for example if you alrdy have boosted the laters and want to play with the explosive spikes of course. What do you think ? :)

Thanks! And I like how you're thinking. Unfortunately, the damage equation is very complicated and messy. We've tried to pin it down over on my Discord server, but there are lots of exceptions to the rule(s) and weird anomalies we can't figure out. However, it's pretty clear that most coil boosts and weapon perks combine additively and then apply to the damage number as a single value. We haven't found any cases where mixing coil types provides a significant advantage. I can't think of any that provide any advantage for that matter. So, it's fine to use all of 1 coil type. But mixing them for the sake of versatility can be a good idea. Although, if you want versatility, I would recommend going for all concentration, agility, or overdraw coils since they boost pretty much all damage types and are easy to trigger.

@@Dawus974 As Arktix mentioned, most coils and weaponperks and most passive skills adds to each other, becoming a big modifier, this also goes for Mounted Archer, Stealth Ranged and Low Health Ranged/Melee Skills. Exception to this are rare, possible exception to this are : Pure Knockdown Coils, Sharpshoot Tear, Component Tear and regular critical damage. Things like Weapon Techniques and Valor Surges are mostly multipliers, but in some cases, we don´t know really (like Ranged Master + Focus Shot). The new elite coils have some strange behavior: Elite Critical Coils say 15% crit chance and 15% crit damage, but it does not increase the Crit Multiplicator, but instead the extra crit damage is added to the other buffs on a crit, and the value is not 15% but 25%. Elite Overdraw Coils instead, seems to generate a new Multiplier, while the regular one and on weapon perks are added to the others. So if you observed that a 15% increase in overdraw was higher then 15% of more concentration, it maybe you used an elite overdraw coil.

Gonna try messing with the machines with the warrior bow by adding all the instant elemental buildup coils which pretty much seem to be the first elite coils you get access to. Perhaps this helps my Ultra Hard playthrough. I'm probably playing the game wrong as the monsters move around too much.

I'm building my Iriv's Bow with the Elite crit coils. I'm playing through New Game Plus+ so I have an excuse to keep playing the game. I probably do the new arena glitch in my non New Game + game. Thanks for that video. :). I use to use my Death-Seeker's bow for crits, but I've been using it only for electricity. I wish there were Legendary and Elite coils for it, but there isn't. I even check your charts for the coils and weave and nothing. I mostly use it to halt Tremortusks and Tiderippers so I can shoot off tusks and tails off easily. I figure putting 3 shock coils will help with three arrow-one shoot will take only one shot to halt any machines, even ones strong to electric coils like the Tremor tusk. And two Reload Speed coils to reload my arrows. I want to use the Shock Enemy Damage coils, but I would have to put it either on my Tear's of the Land-god bow or my Iriv's Bow, and I like what I have on them. I Love Blast Bolt build. All concentration coils. I just freeze the sucker and go to town. If I don't kill in the first round and it has around one-third of its life, I use my Iriv's crit build, double notch, and shoot. I get a 50/50 one shot chance kill. If I don't get that, I just shoot another one quickly and it should be dead. Thanks for this. ;)

Depends how much you use elements besides frost. If you like using them, you could definitely do that mix. Although, I would prefer using 15% concentration, overdraw, or agility coils instead. Those will boost all elements too and they’re 3% more than the dual element coils.

While I'm leveling up Iriv's for a crit build, I put an Elite Tear and 4 of the 100% sharpshot tear coils on my Gravesinger's, and the tear damage is just silly. 1,464 for advanced precision arrows! and I have been playing with the Delta Sharpshot bow's hidden draw speed perk; an extra 25% draw speed coil, 25% stealth (on top of the 25% stealth perk it already has), and a 25% long range, makes for a great build...Hunter and Warrior bows still draw much faster, but for that first-stealth-shot it's pretty boss for damage.

So for the bolt blasters I’ve made one for each weapon technique, while my concentration and elite crit are on other weapons, I find that high ground is very useful for the machine gun as you can easily accomplish it while as well be out of most range of most attacks. For the RPG technique long range is usually best as it’s explosive and for the shotgun it’s good with close, I tried using piercing amo with multiple enemies coils and it’s way too situational & finicky.

I love how the most important 15% Concentration Damage coil was only available from a bugged Side Quest, so many players were never even able to loot it. Will that Scorcher body still be there to loot after they patched the bug, or do dead machines despawn after a certain amount of time?

Yeah it’s pretty unfortunate 😕 No, there’s no way to get it if you missed it on your first playthrough other than doing a NG+ playthrough.

I noticed that often you are focusing on the game, so there is no conversation or interaction going on, just the gameplay. I totally understand it. Nobody just talks while playing games, but it is different if you're streaming. Any effort towards that would certainly improve the LS. That is my opinion FWIW.

Hi, I was wondering how the mechanics behind agility and for some extent concentration work. You mentioned briefly it works "on release". So if I jump (or use Conc) and release the projectile the extra coil dmg applies even if I am not in that state when the projectile connects?

Do Crits also increase Knockdown Power? If so, wouldn't that make Elite Crit coils universally better for Spikethrowers than Elite Overdraw? I know you wouldn't have the Reload & Draw Speed benefits from Elite Crit, but at least you'd also be able to use the Weapon Skills effectively, and the overall damage would definitely be higher. If Crits don't increase Knockdown then all bets are off of course. Anyone know?

Thanks! You can buy the Burning Shores DLC as a digital download as long as you have a PS5. It doesn’t matter if your original version was a disc or digital. You’ll need to update the game first though.

What would you say is the best sharpshot bow at the moment? Is it still the new game+ bow or is the new dlc legendary better?

Iriv's (NG+) is the only one with the elite precision arrows. So if you're after max damage, Iriv's is best. I also like the perks on Iriv's better. However, the Gravesinger does have slightly stronger advanced precision arrows and it fires faster. I've been rolling with the Gravesinger to put it through its paces, but I'm still undecided.

Can you make a video for best coils for uncommon, rare and very rare weapons? This would be helpful for early and middle game

That would be a super long video! Lol. Maybe I’ll make one at some point, but in general, you can use these same recommendations and just fill up as many coil slots as you have with green or blue versions of the coils.

Many weapons are just "lesser" version or similair version of the Legendary ones. The same rules apply for them as for the legendary (Do you just wnat damage? or also Buildup? Knockdownpower?). The "special " coils like component tear or melee followup or long range etc, becomes available at the blue rarity level around a 10% (like Overdraw) / 15% bonus (like component tear or stealth) and are your best bet, but are severly limited. Fill up with plain Impact/Tear/Element etc, coils. Are there any weapons you specificially want to know about?

What is your favorite way to play? I used the eye of the storm and Ivirvs downfall with 5 elite crit coils but I got bored. Recently, I've been looking into using the BS boltblaster with crit and the BS hunter bow and idk how I'll coil it. My idea is for close range combat and sometimes using the spear. What armor set favors weapon stamina, because I would love to use the boltblaster a lot.

Outfits like Nora Thunder Warrior, Quen Marine and Sobecks Rainment all boost stamina due to the Stamina Regen +2/ Weapon Stamina +2 perks. I believe there are more outfits with these types of bonuses, but I can't think of any more at the moment. You should be looking for a Stamina Regen +2 weave or when an outfit already has that perk, go for Weapon Stamina +2. The elite Weapon technique coil from the Burning shores boosts both on top of deep concentration. I'd recommend using elite Tear, elite Overdraw, concentration or elite berserk on the new hunter bow. You could even go for elite knockdown if you want. Or go crazy and use melee follow up coils

Great question. The NG+ weapons aren’t critical, so if you want to just go for Burning Shores right away you’ll be fine with the base game legendaries. The 2 NG+ weapons that will help you are the Iriv’s Downfall sharpshot bow and the Tears of the Land God Hunter bow. But again, not critical. If it were me, I would do Burning Shores on my first playthrough and then start NG+ and do everything again. That way, if you don’t want to use the duplication glitch, you can get 2 copies of the elite coils and weaves. And if you do want to use the duplication glitch, you’ll get your first copies earlier so you can duplicate them before started NG+.

Juat noticed that you cannot equip Elite Crit coils on Blastslings... It says they're incompatible. Surely this must be a Glitch as this makes no sense at all. You CAN still use Crit Chance/Damage coils.

When I use concentration damage coils on lets say a shredder gauntlet. Do I only need to be in concentration when I shoot the projectile or keep concentration activated during the actual hits for the boost to trigger?

Good question. You just need to be in concentration when the projectile is release, not the whole time it’s in the air. Similar to what I described for agility coils.

even if it´s overkill i´m curious about one thing: how do the coils and the skills from your skill tree stack? If i´d take Iriv's Downfall at max rang for example. it has 255 Tear by default with 5x 100% Tear Damage i´d be at 1.530 Tear (since 6x). But then there's also "Part Breaker" Valor Surge from the Machine Master Tree for another 85% boost and the max rank "Stealth Tear+" from the Infiltrator Tree for another 25% when attacking out of stealth. would that mean i´d get 1.530*1.85*1.25=3.538 Tear or are they additive? with each other so 255*(6+0,85+0,25)=1.810?

Is there a bug concerning the "hidden quid draw mechanic", sliding and drawing of the ropecaster(s)? I was able to use this mechanic a few weeks ago, but recently, maybe since I started the DLC, Aloy stops mid of the slide and goes into a crouch. Annoying to say the least 😞. cheers.

@@ArktixOfficial they just do so well at dealing damage, tearing components, and shocking the machine. I filled mine with agility coils, and “shocked enemy damage” coils. Even the machines that are resistant to shock can’t withstand it, I mean I’m playing on very hard and I’m amazed how fast I can dispatch Apex machines, ravagers, slitherfangs, slaughterspines, thunderjaws. I considered maybe that I wasn’t being resource efficient but even for shock resistant machines it only takes 3-4 agility throws to put them in the shocked state, and as you know they’re cheap to craft. The only machines I don’t use shredders on are the fire and frostclaws. I use carjas bane on them with a bunch of instant freeze chance coils and melee follow up coils.

Is the new legendary crit coil always the best for pure damage? Except sustained burst of course. I did some quick tests, for disk thrower 5 agility coil comes really close to legendary crit coils. For drill spike I’m not very sure, it seems overtime damage is the best, legendery overdraw come next and legendary crit comes the last. For other weapons it seems legendary crit is always the best

For any weapon that can use them, a full set of the elite crit coils is the best. I suppose enlargements could be made for others, but the elite crit really are OP
