Cheers folks! Thanks for helpful videos. Not particularly millennials but it's never too late to have some new perspective on things we used to do certain way. In fact you guys are doing better with lower income in LA than we're doing in cheaper location which is insane. What brought me here is the desire to organize better our expenses, since some of them are pretty spontaneous and sometimes come as a bit of a surprise. I was thinking about making sinking funds but never really gave a try to that idea - right now we're basically using one decent emergency fund to offset those surprises, but I feel we could do better and more consistent. So thanks again! Btw, I don't mind Amazon ads - they gives me time to refill some beer 😀

New subscriber and I’m so excited to find a couple with combined income and daycare expenses sharing their budgeting! This was so relatable to me! Love your guys’ banter too! I have a separate category for “refunds” and include any money friends or people owe me to keep track and I take the expense out so I know I have a deficit that’s waiting to be balanced out. I really appreciated seeing you struggle on how to categorize Quin’s expenses. I struggle with this too with my daughter!😅

Welcome!! Ohh a refund category, that’s a good idea! I might have to do that for the bachelorette party that I’m hosting.

I have a specific “to be reimbursed” section, where I assign any money that I want to track from repayment, that includes work, friends, etc. that way I also have a place to reference in case I need to - so that line item does go negative but that serves as a reminder to me.

We cancelled our amazon and haven't looked back! There are some things that are better to order from there on occasion, but you get free shipping on orders over $35 so prime isn't really worth it/just encourages frequent spending.

Agreed! I’m in the process of ordering something directly from a retailer. 6 days later and it’s still waiting to be shipped so not loving that. But I’ll keep testing!

Thank you for this! I do have a question though...For any annual subscriptions do you think it's best to add these to the monthly budget broken down over 12 months or have this elsewhere factored in since they are only once a year purchases?

I got a refund/credit income column and then i track the expenses in the category and usually it’s my travel or fun budget line. I usually am the concert buyer for my family and friends group because my Costco citi card allows me access to the pres sale tickets

For tracking split transactions, I put the total amount I paid but then subtract the portion your friend sent you back.

New time follower here! Question on the budget template for the fun categories are all those put into a HYSA sinking fun or is it cash you take out?

Thanks for the great info you shared. I requested the free templated last week however I unknowingly sent it to an account that need free space so I never received it. I attempted to order it today sending it to a different account and I was told that the offer expired. Please advise.

I liked the old way the future-category was displayed way better. Also, I wish you would total up each section (fixed, fun...) as a line under each category. For what I do in my budget if I get reimbursed for something is that i subtract it from the original "charge". Lets say I pay $100 for something and someone Venmo me $30 i put the formula as (100-30). The reason for this is that it would not be correct otherwise; it is not extra income, and I did not actually spend $100 on my own. I want my sums reflecting my actual income and what I actually spent! My spending-tracke looks a little different from yours, but it works out nicely :)

New to this channel... is this template where you have to manually enter each transaction about in the cell? That seems cumbersome.. but maybe I just missed it since this wasn't a video to explain the template.

As a freelancer, I assume you pay taxes quarterly? If that’s true, do you have some separate way of keeping track of how much you would save for taxes, or is there a way we could bake that into the budget sheet?

Great template. Love it. ❤ However, you guys should add a line item for ounces of silver or gold saved.

If you’re the one who people owe, do you record what you actually paid in full and everyone’s portion as income?
@randomnielle8 ай бұрын
@@DebtFreeMillennials that is what I do! It’s just cleaner and easier to track everything. For example my son wanted to buy a game on Nintendo switch and he gave me cash. I put the purchase on our credit card and counted the cash as income. So it balances out in the end rather than trying to ignore it

How do you factor healthcare expenses into your monthly budget? I find that to be a huge expense in addition to daycare & rent.

We have a health savings account so it is separate from our regular budget. But I’ve toyed with the idea of making a separate budget for the HSA so I can track that better.

@@DebtFreeMillennials hi, hoping I might get a response from this question. I get paid every week so I'm looking for an app or excel formula that will look at all my income and the dates I get paid, then look at all my bills per month and plot out where to pay them during the month (example.. I have $100, bill is $120, so then it automatically figures out how to spread that out). Do you offer an app or something that will do this for me?
@DebtFreeMillennials8 ай бұрын
@@kbanghart hey thanks for reaching out. I've been using Quicken Simplifi to see paychecks and bills in a calendar month, but I don't think it has built-in logic to show whether or not your checking account has enough to cover bills until the next pay day... yet. Let me see what I can find out. Can you DM me on Instagram @debtfreemillennials_

You do know when ordering from Amazon to look at the seller name? If its bunch of garbage letters, its from China. Technically, those sellers are suppose to be banned from selling on Amazon cause of bad quality and the inability to get it next day.
