It’s astonishing how you guys can turn an overgrown garden into a building site in such a short time. Once the concrete’s poured you’ll be laying bricks in no time. Your lads work really well together too. Impressive.

It's amazing the amount of earth and concrete you have removed. It's so interesting to see a build from the very start. Cheers Darren.

As a rule Darren, you don’t dig over your drive sprockets as all the weight with be on them and it’s an expensive part to replace. So dig over your idlers. The plough goes to the front and stops you pulling yourself towards the hole you are digging. Obviously it’s a hire machine, so it’s not on you to look after it.

I bet that Grab truck guy is great at getting the iphones and soft toys out of the arcade machines 😂

Nice work! It’s a juggling act with diggers, spoil piles, inspections, skips and grab lorries, especially on such a small site. Looking forward to seeing the pour 👍

Great to look back at the end of Day and see Progress, with Rain ☔ it's good to cover the spoil Clay, some Grab companies Won't take it if over saturated with water, You might be Lucky and miss the Rain , Cover with medium gauge DPM keeps Clay dry, dress the DPM over the side's of footings, Rain water will cause sides to Collapse into your finish work. Invest in a electric sump pump for footings/ flooding for concrete. Your all ways Racing against the Rain when working on footings

Glad you didn’t have any problems with the grab like before, home straight now! 👍

Great work guys. That is a lot of graft. One thing I must say is it really might be the time to replace that old lead water main with a new plastic one back to the stop cock. I've seen many cases of these things developing a leak within a year or two of being disturbed even when great care is taken.

Will your Grab Lorry guy not take all that concrete & bricks as well? The builders I do stuff for use grabs who take the lot (obviously not rubbish though) as they way cheaper than skips. For the price of a couple of skips you got a full grab load cleared.
@darrenthebuilderАй бұрын
Yes he took concrete with the load today
@WombleUKАй бұрын
Ah right that's good, I was just thinking of your poor wallet getting hammered by skips 😉
@shanicarter7637Ай бұрын
That was a very productive day of digging. I assume there is a foundation you can use next to the existing house and that is why you did not dig there.

I have zero idea about diggers Darren, so no advice from me 😂

Why not remove the lead pipe? Surely that is due for replacement and it's about the easiest time to sort it out.
@darrenthebuilderАй бұрын
Defiantly not easy to do and I don’t wanna do it lol and it’s not our pipe. They would need to pay someone to do it and arrange with the land owner
@findblueskyАй бұрын
@darrenthebuilder if it's nothing to do with the build, then I understand. If it was my build, I'd want to replace it in case there was a leak in the future, but I'm sure it's not easy, just easier than fixing it down the line
