I think it looks better than the previous generation. It's a bit heavy though. To think with all the advances in frame building tech.
@obi-wankenobi98716 жыл бұрын
@@senseye1977 the shaoeshifter adds weight. Also this bike is still light. A heavier frame will also give you better suspension performance. Some brands even stopped making their dh bikes lighter, because it starts to feel too light and your suspension then isnt as plush anymore.

A couple years ago a 29er with this much travel would seem weird. Now it's the norm and we're seeing DH guys using 29ers. It's safe to say that 26 is close to dead but I wonder what will happen with 27.5?
@dank38236 жыл бұрын
27.5 will keep winning dh and ews championships
@daveandmerlin6 жыл бұрын
27.5 has a place for shorter riders and maybe a little more agile but 29 will probably take over in the end
@camwells97266 жыл бұрын
It’s a personal preference, I still believe the size of the rider and the frame is significant, 29 inch wheels on a small frame and small rider is a bit different to 29 inch wheels on a extra large frame on a 6 foot plus rider .
@RobertSchuster686 жыл бұрын
Cam Wells wrong! My 2015 cannondale trigger team with its 140mm suspension in XL is 11,4 Kg ... with Alu Rims! So there is still room for improvement. And 4 years later all brands have Enduros in there standard with 15 kg in size XL??!! Weight is the motherfucking reason for 27,5
@camwells97266 жыл бұрын
Mister T huh ? I’ve got no idea what your point is , my point was wheel size preference is up to the individual
@Renton816 жыл бұрын
Looks so much better than the last model. I would've like to seen the option for 27.5 wheels and 160 travel forks and 65.5 or 65 degree HA in dh mode. Ha seems a bit conservative. If the option for 27.5 was there it would definitely be on my short list.
@trailtalkmtb66036 жыл бұрын
FINALLY!!! Looks like a super dialled bike. You're right with the chainstays, 440-445mm would have made the bike feel a bit more balanced on the bigger bikes.
@raupenimmersatt69066 жыл бұрын
Finally a reviewer says it: 29ers need longer chainstays when the reach gets longer. 440mm atleast- better 445-450mm.
@ChuyR.4 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that they kept a short chainstay on the large size in order to keep the bike agile for jumping, and it kinda makes sense, there are a lot of comments on the new Enduro not being a good jumping bike, just an excelent Racing bike

It would be great to have a little more explanation of what their propietary shaleshifter technology is. It's partially my fault that I'm not up to date on what they've been doing, but a quick primer before diving into the nitty gritty would have been helpful!

700c, 28" and 29" are all 622. Basically it's a bike with big tire clearance. The "29er" is a very clever sales pitch. The biggest difference is the excellent engineering that goes into the frames.

I think it’s a really smart choice going with the shapeshifter rather than the approach that Scott took with having a proprietary shock. Can the strive be fitted with a coil shock I wonder?

I was looking at this bike until I saw the weight. As someone mentioned previously...over 14kg's without pedals is a heavy bike; especially going uphill. Compare that to the new Trek Fuel 9.8 which weighs 13.55 kg (29.88 lbs) with tubes and 26 x 2.6" tyres.

I think they just mean heavier duty casings..I have never been but have watched several videos of the area and everyone mentioned slashed sidewalls and heavily worn/scuffed tires from the sharp edged rock.

So now u do can put x2 shox in it?All i see is that they made it 29er with smaller travel(which is not good for me), but As far as i understand, now shock is not 200/57 mm, its bigger ,about 62 mm, as i can see metrics on it in video (so i'm confused) and changed the shape of yoke(?the part between uppertube and rearshock) so now u probably can put x2 shock in it. And what the hech is with price? U can buy completed bike by the price of frame!SICK!1Personally, i don't like what they made, maybe couse i waited too much from canyon. I own 2018 strive by the way, and i can say i like it .
