Q:What camera do you use?
A: I use the Go Pro Hero 7 Black Edition primarily. Often times you will see auxillary cameras in use. Those cameras include The Go Pro Hero 6, Hero, and DJI Mavic Pro Platinum
Q: How big Is your rotator?
A: It is a 50 ton Miller Industries Vulcan 950
Q: Does the carriage slide back like Ron Pratt's?
A: No, the carriage doesn't slide back due to strict weight laws in California. The sliding carriage will make the truck to heavy in CA
Q: Why do you only have 3 winches on the rotator?
A: Comes down to weight again as stated above
Q: How many trucks Does Plaza Towing have?
A: Currently more than 30
Q: Why must the driveshaft be removed to tow a vehicle?
A: When vehicles are not running the transmission is not receiving circulating lubricant. If the driveshaft is left installed, the transmission, which is not receiving lubricant, is still spinning. This allows it to get very hot which eventually will cause major damage to the transmission. Therefore, removing the driveshaft completely eliminates the transmission from spinning. Simply leaving it in neutral is not sufficient since the transmission still spins in neutral.

You obviously , have never driven one of those trucks before he had his Extensions fold it in so sometimes on a lower car or if it was just rear wheel drive it can be a hard time to get off the ramps and up over those extensions as you can clearly see in the video the car probably spun out a little bit and push them over off the ramps

Another great rescue Trent🙂 The haulers driver needs to learn about centering the cars so the load is more balanced going down the road. I have never seen car ramps that narrow before either...light ones at that. I would not use that guys company to haul anything with wheel using those ramps. There's a reason car carrier trailers ramps are as wide as they are and one reason I think is to prevent this exact scenario.

In my younger days I drove lorry mounted cranes in London, UK. my crane was often called to crashes and lost loads. Those car transporter guys would rely on the weight of the car to hold them on the trailers, with maybe just the winch line on the front. The back end would bounce around and flip off. I also drove Land Rovers and trailers for my brother, he did TV adds for new car releases and so we carted nice shiny models around to locations. He fitted ratchet tighteners in three locations each side of the trailers, this was before ratchet straps came on the scene. I'd always stop after a few miles and check the tightness as the cars shook down a bit. A little trick we used was old canvas bags filled with clothing waste, we'd insert them between the wheel and the tie down or lifting strap to keep it off the body work. I've also used wooden blocks but placed on the tyre not the ali rims. The guys that hauled new cars from the factories to dealers or the ports, 6. 8 10, at a time. Would configure their trailers to suite the models carried and the front and back tie downs would be spot on. The guys as in your video were the cowboys, always in a hurry to be somewhere else. They never checked ramps for alignment, the tie downs were crap and the drove like mad. Great for the crane guys like yourself to sort them out. Thanks for posting and stirring a few memories.

Dear lord! Didn’t seem to be the brightest. I just KNEW when he was told to drive the truck and trailer forward, he’d actually put it in reverse. Had to be told everything as there was apparently no common sense. Was told to get the ramps out of the way, but no he goes ahead and decides to reattach them back onto the trailer which still left little room to lower the car back down. Then was like he was racing it back to onto the trailer with no concept of what went wrong the first time. I wouldn’t let this dude pull my car into a parking spot.

Those ramp extensions were not wide enough for that trailer. They also did not seem to lock into place very well. Then there is the whole thing about the driver not knowing what he was doing (too fast, not aligned properly, flustered easily). End result, bad hotshot driver candidate. You can tell he usually drives around wrecked vehicles being taken to autobody shops to rebuild as Salvage titles. Kudos for keeping your gear well organized before and after performing a tow.

Hi ,just started watching the channel, watching a few others to see the different ways of doing things and operator professional ways . Looks good from here ,even the safety hard hat etc ,all good signs that you take the job seriously. A couple of questions, could you use both hooks with the spreader bar? It would allow you to raise one side only until the strops are clear of rhe vehicle body bits ? There must be some better wheel clamp/sling combo that would get the lift point out and away from the wheel ,and as with this car ,there would be less chance of body damage ? Some sort of strong nylon plastic hub that is strapped to the wheel ,then the lifting eye centre and out ! In my view, your amongst Ron Platt , Murphy's Diesel,Casey Ladelle ,and others of rhe off road recovery guys, Matt's Off-road, Robby Layton,Trailmater , Everything Auto ,all doing different tows and recovery but in most the same methods and types of equipment,it all takes thinking and skill . The Rotator certainly adds that new dimension to what you can achieve. I see that you are not far from Salton Sea ,i was watching a doco on it recently, interesting and i was amazed that people can still live there, think it mentioned renewed exstration of minerals? Im sure that was said . Cheers

It's a growing epidemic of foreigners trying to be a truck driver in America. And they seem to have more accidents than most. Not so much with our Mexican and Canadian nabors. But the people unfamiliar with our laws and vehicles. Our vehicles are larger and we drive on the left side of the vehicle and it messes with them. We need stricter tests for a CDL license like back before they made it easy for cheap help. A real driver is not less important than a construction worker and a lawyer. Everyone has something they are capable of doing, but a commercial vehicle isn't like a car or shouldn't be treated like one.

If that was my car that was being delivered, I'd be highly disappointed. From the jump off the track and having the car hanging at an angle was the 1st red flag of the main delivery driver here. Then his amateur sidekick came along and rushed to get the car back up the ramp in a hastily and sloppy way. I thought he was going to ram the front end of the new lexus into the wrecked car at the top of the ramp. Like, what's the rush? Both drivers messed up. I would request a new lexus delivery. New delivery drivers and switch the lexus suv out for another. I don't want any scratches or dings on my ride. Watching this video made me cringe when all these things happened, especially when the car was dangling up in the air, too. That wouldn't have been necessary if they did things right the first time. I dont trust brand new car deliveries because u never know what they're really doing with your ride.

to me, this car is no longer brand new................has to have some damage or scuffed undercarriage from how it was sitting on the ramps.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of damages these have when they’re picked up especially from rail yards. Port cars are usually damage free might find a scratch here or there.
