Despite the whole “Yugiboomer” stereotype, I think Yugi and Kaiba would be all about the newer mechanics if they played the modern game. Yugi played against people who could turn the field into a labyrinth or strap him to Saw-style death traps, I think he could handle pendulum summoning is all I’m saying.

kaiba would literally play meta strategies. he would buy all the best cards and staples of that format, build a good deck, and then add 3 blue eyes because he liked them. a lot of people forget kaiba was a meta whore. that being said, he'd be in bystial blue eyes or branded blue eyes

Anime cards support is always tricky cause you have to either make the deck too gimmicky to be viable (Red eyes), or end up just making it "Generic combo board vomiter" like superheavy samurai, or you end up making them powerful bricks (Blue eyes and BLS) or, and that's the worst in my opinion, make them too dependent on discount floodgate cards making the deck have little to no identity

Its important to note that purrely will absolutely suck until the new support gets added in probably a few months. Without lily,sleepy, and small noir, purrely basically isn't even on the radar especially since they're probably going to preemptively hit it on the ban list.

For that new bls i just have a level 4 dark normal monster in a bls deck and that way i get to get that shuffling effect plus the effect of one of those bls support level 4 that give you effects if in a ritual, the problem is a bls focused deck is honestly kinda terrible outside of playing just for fun or with friends

Then there’s me playing a Slifer deck with three Thunder Dragons to thin the deck and get two bricks to my hand to guarantee the god has some stats (baiting Ash is a plus), Ra’s Disciple at three just to thin the deck and make a pathetic wall, (‘cause God knows I’m never getting one of them, Slifer, and Double Summon to hand at the same time), then praying I can hard draw Mound of the Bound Creator and Slifer thinking about how Convulsion of Nature would make The True Name an option for the deck I built, even if it is gimmicky. “Damn, I wish this could be as consistent as something like Blue Eyes.”

Cards like the new BLS are there for supprting an archetype that already has a terrible foundation (like vanilla monsters or old school rituals) or simple nostalgia milking. With a brand new archetype like Purrely, Branded, Tear, ya dont have such limitations and can make the foundation as powerful as they want. Even new archetypes that are to come in soon like Snake-eye and Horus (no its not Horus the Black Flame Dragon support) have a fresh, strong foundation that isnt limited by old cards.
