Why? It’s 2023, you’ll never see a V8 in anything unless it’s absolutely necessary. The prior v6 was junk. This new 2.7 has a ton of potential and is severely over built. Do your research

⁠@@dennisdwagner2012 the 5.3 V8 in the 1st gen Colorado though was awesome. Yeah the 2.7 has more power but in terms of simplicity, longevity, and ability to modify the V8 still has it.

I have owned a 2023 Canyon for about 3 months now and I get tired of headlines that include sentences like "is this vehicle better than that vehicle" everyone has different wants and needs when they decide to buy a certain brand of truck and there is no such thing as the perfect truck. Just because I chose the Canyon doesn't mean there aren't other great choices out there that might suit your needs in price, quality, and styling that are a better choice for you and your needs.

Hot take. I think the engine is actually pretty impressive if you look at from bigger lens, instead of just focusing on the fact that it makes the same fuel economy as the V6. It's make 310hp and 390-430lb-ft, and it peaks real low in the power band, Just take in the fact that the high output tune is making only 30lb-ft less then GM's bigger 6.2L V8 in the half-tons, and it makes it sooner at 3k rpm.

It will do better than what he says , I got the identical truck in June, just took it on vacation, had 4 adults, and a bed full gear , it got 22.5 mpg driving 1700 miles though the smoky mountains

Checy better sell a lot and attract new customers because when the new Tacoma arrives woth theor hybrid more fuel efficient power train and the Ranger is game over for them. Rigth now theu cant afford tp be greedy with high mark ups (lots of dealers do) and amp the production. I myself waiting until the end of the year to see all the new trucks, but im a smart buyer and not a fan boy or someone who needs a truck rigth now.

4 cylinder is only a step down to EV so it hurts less when they have good power numbers. At some point they are going to just pull the Petroleum rug out form under neath us probably on a holiday weekend when your not paying attention.

There’s no way you bought one of these and then moved to a 23 Tacoma and thought that the Tacoma felt less “cheap” the third gen taco was outdated the year it was released. I’ve been in both and bought a Colorado, the Colorado has the taco beat in every single category.

you think there trying to satisfy the consumer with emissions , if you could take off all the restriction PCV/EGR ect....... probably get 30MPG , were re-burning exhaust , recycling PCV, restricting exhaust .

I totally agree woth you Ben. We are giving up a nice engine and exhaust sound, reliability for worse fuel economy? Anyway, love the design both in an out. I jist wished they added more color to the interior, put freaking headlights knob!, the hood release to be sturdier and standard LED headlights.

You’re downgraded to a four-cylinder. And you only get 17 to 21 miles per gallon. That’s terrible. They downgrade your engine, but they give you gas mileage of a V-8.

It's also got V8 level of torque. With the tune that comes standard on the ZR2 and all Canyons it's putting out a peak of 430lb-ft @ 3000 rpm.

On a short test drive I couldn’t get over the sound of the 4 cylinder accelerating from a stop sign residential driving. Sounded like a Chevy Cavalier

@@elche1976 😂 “no replacement for displacement”. I hope it ends being one of the greatest motors GM has ever engineered “2.7L”. I guess on a short test drive with it and having a 17’ Colorado myself with the 3.6 and having driven a Silverado with the 5.3 V8 for a couple thousand miles I’d lean towards the naturally aspirated V6 or V8 over this turbo 4. Just my opinion nothing wrong with liking this 2.7 😎👍

I've got a '23 Traverse with the 3.6 V6, love the sound when it starts up. Glad I didn't wait for a new one, 4 banger turbo is too small an engine for such a big vehicle, especially hauling 6 people + cargo. I had a Ranger years ago with a 4 banger (sans turbo). And it was fine as long as you didn't overload it too much.

i like the trail boss but the front black plastic grill/bumper is kinda lame. First thing I would do is paint it or get a new off road bumper.
