I've been doing cold emersion for about five years. I'm always amazed at how positively it affects my mental state. I was also surprised after the first year to find that it also caused me to be much more tolerant of heat. Win/Win!

@ayo9057 It's a real exercise in self discipline! Besides the physical benefits, you develop your will and self motivation. I've had people ask; "when does it stop feeling cold?" Well, never! Staying in our comfort zone is how we lose our resilience. I thought it was just me having difficulty until I heard Wim Hof say that after forty years of cold exposure, he still has to force himself into the cold every morning. That made me feel a little better about myself.

I take 3 minutes cold shower every day since a year and do not suffer like most others being outside in the sun when shadow temperatures are 33-38 celsius here in south of Europe. Neither I am disturbed by relatively low temperatures(14-18 celsius) inside during winter time. And I am 76.

Have been doing the cold shower thing every morning for a 6 months and noticed I feel better throughout the day and I think I have lost some belly fat. I’m going to make a outdoor tank out of a horse water tank and try the cold immersion for 90 sec you talked about in the video. Thank you for your dedication to helping us live a healthier life 🙂🙏

I was visiting Chicago and I took one of those tour buses, it was the most cold I've ever experienced in my life, it was also drizzling and very windy on the top floor. Then two little boys show up running and laughing, not a care in the world. I was like wtf

5 years + in cold showers now cold stream anywhere between 5-10>+ minutes , so yes it IS the most difficult protocol aims all you have said plus the psychological breakthrough of dealing with the most difficult protocol it also causes the limbic or lower brain cortical direct messaging pathways which IS the most profound with a meditative approach one can start to transcend the very physical limits of the body the pulse and breathing slow , I do small aerobic workout prior to then hyper wimhoff breathing hva enow done hundreds not today but last 5 days etc , yes IT dramatically reduces inflmataion saadly didn't do it after I broke my arm cycling otherwise might have less infolmataion i9e dupytrens , yep cold shower and wander down to your local stream , pond and stay safe !

DEFINITELY! But admittedly the effects aren’t as robust as fully dunking your entire body (head included) into an ice bath.

Icin sprained joints is NOT the best way to let it heal. The body gets blood to the injured area for a reason. Moving in the painfree range is a better way to quick recovery. Not sure about bruises from impacts though.

I've been doing cold water immersion for a couple of years now, and got much of my current knowledge about its benefits from yourself, Andrew Huberman, and Rhonda Patrick etc....all people I greatly respect. But after watching another doctor who I respect and love listening to, I'm a bit confused. Dr Peter Attia did a video about healthspan with Thomas Delauer the other day, and one of the talking points was cold water immersion. Peter clearly stated that there isn't enough data to show that cold water immersion has any health benefits whatsoever. Does it or doesn't it? it MUST be one or the other. I now don't know who to believe.....you and the other experts citing studies in favour of it, or Peter Attia saying there isn't enough evidence. 🤔

Search Susanna Soeberg she has published data on the benefits, and has lots of material available.

Isn't it interesting that it is far more natural to come across cold water than it is hot water? Of course hot showers are a modern privilege and people for thousands of years did not waste all of that time trying to heat up water to bathe themselves when they were so darn comfortable in cold water. I still laugh at the memes of people standing on the edge of a cliff side joking then this is them waiting for the water to heat up
@sarahrosen4985 Жыл бұрын
Interesting observation. You have something there. Personally, where I live, the sea is just a bit behind matching the seasonal temperature. We have some natural springs / streams with ice water in the summer but also several mineral hot springs with really hot water all year long. Much prefer soaking in a thermal spring in the winter until I just have to escape and then going outside in the cold in my wet bathing suit not feeling the cold and staying until I start to shiver. Then start the cycle all over again. In and out of an iced river in the summer isn’t as good.
@tropicaoptica Жыл бұрын
Water in tropical locations is pretty warm. I remember staying in Costa Rica in a bay where the shore was a lot of stones and they would heat up and the tide would come in over the rocks and it was calm water and like a bathtub and it was amazing. The local rivers and waterfalls were cool and refreshing but not cold. Humans came from tropical locations. We migrated to cold northern areas. We became humans with intelligence long before we moved to harsh and unnatural climates. If we have to wear clothes to stay warm or use fire it isn’t a natural environment.
