@@RonKanter I thought you put the two fart incidents with Luce in on purpose. At first it makes you think he's an immature dude who isn't even going to make it through the academy. Come to find out throughout the movie that he's probably the most mature out of all the other cadets you followed. Its clear through his retelling of getting in a shooting that he understands the seriousness and the complexity of emotions one goes through when they're forced to take another human life. He also touches on how the job caused his first marriage to fall apart because he "brought a lot of stuff home." Actually seems like a tortured dude. Sense of humor is just a defense mechanism.

Your thought is shared by many people. The Philadelphia PD and many others across the country are having trouble recruiting new officers at least partially for the reasons you point out. On the other hand, it is a career that offers an opportunity to help people and your community. The salary can be quite good and the benefits are often outstanding. For many men and women it is a family tradition of service and honor.

Thank you for uploading this. Before this film, I struggled to understand why minority communities today have such distrust against the Law Enforcement. Now, I have a better grasp of the experience of being a minority in a poor neighborhood. Watching the grainy footage, I surely thought that we'd abandoned this policing style in the 80's/90's. Seeing a pop-up statistic from 2006 was shocking to say the least. With how recent this police behavior is, I totally get why certain members of the public even today choose not to cooperate with the police. Then there was the segment on class achievement and conduct during the academy. Absolutely shocking. Firstly, they can't even pass 7th grade English. Secondly, they're absolutely unprofessional with the pranks and childish conduct. Thirdly, one of the ladies in the beginning isn't familiar with the 1st amendment even though she is 60% of the way through the academy How in the world did 98% of them pass? God knows how many people have had their lawful rights violated since the release of this 12 years ago. These cops are probably still on the street 12 years later, with a 6 figure salary and pension to follow. Absolutely unbelievable. Edit: That guy at 54:04 was later sent to jail for 5 years for running a scam

GamerHeavy.. I Agree 100% Cops are tyrannical thugs with badges & these commentors are applauding them. The first minute of this film the cops harass a man for standing on the sidewalk! People think this is OK. it boggles my mind that anyone is ok with this level of violation. I suppose if it doesn't happen to them then it is OK but what they don't realize is they could be next. Keep exposing these tyrants & educating because it is very obvious people are not aware of our Bill of Rights. Well Done!!

The difference between the being in the military and being a cop is that Privates in the military are always working under supervision. Rookie cops are often patrolling on their own or with another rookie. Cops have a lot more discretion than grunts. Some people are mature at 18, but most need a few more years to develop some judgement and experience. That's the reason that most police departments won't let 18-yearolds join up.
