I'd prefer them to take their time and work carefully with the new codex. They collect their data and do buffs and nerfs based on tournaments. And nids don't participate in any... So they better get a lot of love, because imo for example DG got a little too much love.

I remember the Rogue Trader rulebook when genestealers were entirely separate from the Tyranids and even a single one was a serious threat to a whole squad of marines. They also had leech heads and dinosaur tails, so that was a bit of a trade-off...

Based on the wording, Deathwing Command Squads would not get Objective Secured in a 1st Company detachment, as they are distinct from the "Deathwing Terminator Squad" unit. I think it makes sense, as they are supposed to be more elite than regular terminators (similar to how Knights are elite elites), which is why they form the bodyguard for characters.

I know the matchup is lopsided, but tyranids had a huge model and speed advantage that was thrown away by getting into combat turn 1. The problem with an on foot deathwing list is that it’s slow. Charging turn 1 just made their loss condition evaporate. Parking models on all the objectives and letting them still struggle to engage would’ve been far stronger IMO

I know people are hating on the new marines right now (even though some of the rules were not correct in this game), I am for one thing NOT sorry to finally see terminators be good again. This wasn't really a hyper competitive list from Matt this time around. Normally when I see him playing nids he is either on point or having some fun. The two dimachareons and the hierodule was a start but against a full terminator list of deathwing was a recipe for disaster. Mass gaunts or warriors with zoanthropes and neurothropes would have been a better game.

The only way to play nids is spam gaunts and ignore the other team entirely.... and even that fails more often then not (tho would have probably would hav done better then that nid list against such a sub optimal Dark Angel list).

There is no excuse for that level of BS and “but they are marines” is a dumb reason, The game isn’t called “Just play Space Marines”. Tyranids have been underpowered for years and it’s that simple, the game should never have gotten to the point where the meta is so broken and leaning heavy to one or two races. Spoilers! The DA list hard counters a CC monstermash list so hard it's not even funny. Hard to wound and a good save is precisely what you want vs few strong attacks. Just a little annoying with all the naysayers in the comments going "Woe is me". When you build a list as one-dimensional as this one you will get rock-paper-scissored. I think the best way to win this game with this Nid list would be to entice your opponent to spread out and try to isolate his units. Gotta use that speed advantage for something else than a 1st turn charge. That said, I enjoyed the battle report! Short, but a bloody carnage :D

I feel you homie, all the space marines are getting their fancy new toys and cards that slot so easily into their decks. Thanks! I'm not a regular MTG player but I have played it a bit in the past. And yeah, blue decks have always been my least favourite to play and play against. I prefer that both players get to do their cool things and see who does it better.

@@miniwargaming would a heavy zoanthrope, neurothrope and malaceptor , malanthrope list do good against the deathwing yes you have No combat potential But the sheer mortal wound output Using encephalic diffiusion to minus 1 strengh taking storm bolters to essentially s3 , rockets to s7 Membranous Mobility: as one part of hive fleet adaptation meaning your units that have fly keyword -1to hit

What a pile of depression it was watching this, hitting on 2+ rerolling 1s, wounding on 3+ rerolling 1s and only receiving a wound on a 4+ seems a little OTT for dark angels lol.

And with the help of the Deathwing-Apothecarius, you can ignore the wound on a 6, after your 1+, 4++. I think they missplayed it, because you only ignore to loose 1 wound at a 6, not all wounds.

Hey matt, have you considered devourergaunts? I think they are really good now that they went down 2 points a peice, so I'd put 30 of them in a trygon and then use lurking maws to reroll all hit roll. I feel like they would've been really good this game.

They re-roll 1's if there are more than 20 in the squad anyway, but using the shoot twice strategem when they pop up is really good! 180 shots can wipe a decent amount on arrival.

The brand NEW hot superawsome DA codex against one of the oldest dexes in the 40K lineup were almost half the rules are in one way shape or form obsolete. I wonder what would happen 😭. Superbad matchup and not very fun. Not saying Nids are totally bad, but running everything right into Termis having permanent transhuman, 2+/4++ Is like the worst way to play this game using nids.

I was really hoping they'd nerf Azrael that 4+ invun bubble is way too good for space marines (space marine player here btw) Annoys me a bit that new codexes will be balanced vs stuff like DA. While other chapters usually don't come close in terms of power I don't know why Steve looked so surprised during the game xD .. you could totally see what would happen Deathwing are crazy powerful. You get 4+ invun, you can only be wounded on 4+ and you have a 6+ fnp.. not to mention reroll wounds vs monsters :p

That was not the list to try and fight this army with at all... It feels really good, considering the amount of Dark Angels stuff i have, and i will fully acknowledge that they are completely set up to be the best, but they are not as infallible as many seem to think.
