❤I told the nuns my brother and I had to leave school 15 minutes early to catch a bus. We lived a mile and a half away. There was NO bus. I made John run that way every day. Nothing would come between DS and me.

Yes!! It came on at 3:30, just minutes before school was out! I'd jump on my bike and race home as fast as I could. But, could only catch the last 15 minutes. I never understood why it couldn't have been aired at 4:00.

I just bought Dark Shadows Volumes 1 & 2 on Vudu. It still holds up all these years later, since it wasn't really of it's time in the late 60's. This was taped live for broadcast, so there was no editing or stopping if there was a flub, they had to just keep going. It really was live theater. We all sprinted home from the school bus, faster than we ever did in gym class.

But with theater productions, they have months to rehearse. I think with Dark Shadows, they did a dress rehearsal and then the live taping. They flub a line now and then, but they did incredibly well, for a live show. It aired 5 days a week, I think? I could be wrong.

As a child in Arkansas I was simply fascinated by Dark Shadows. When it was time for me to begin the first grade in September 1970 I cried because I wasn't going to be able to see Dark Shadows any more due to the time I would be getting home from school. That's how much I loved the show. I am glad to see that I am not alone in my love for this venerable show. Thanks for uploading these videos. Mark

I can relate. You're not alone. In 1968 the very first episodes I watched on weekdays were after school. I also had my fits when my Dad wanted to take me to the Barbershop for a haircut. It was hard not to cry knowing I was going to miss an episode. Also I lived a good part of my life in the country so, every other day after school I had to operate the tractor on slow mode while Dad filled 4 long feeders. I was 9 going on 10. At least in the mid 70s he didn't object to my watching D.S. on weekdays, I was 17 by then. I pretty much moved forward. If anyone in 68 would've told me that 40 years later in 2008 I be collecting one set or 2 at time on DVDs I would've found that impossible to believe. Dark Shadows has had me hooked for decades although their were a few years I didn't see it after it was on the Sci-Fi Channel. D.S. will always have millions of dedicated fans.

Woah! $1000.00 in 1897 would be $33,675.53 in 2021 (the inflation calculator site is always a year behind). Plus another half of that. That's a lot of money Quentin. But I don't blame him for not leaving. However if he'd known what was gonna happen to him maybe he would have. Judith: "Quentin, I'd forgotten how boring you are." Boring? Quentin is a lot of things (mostly very handsome) but boring? Never! Lioness of Judith. LOL!

I like how the Collins had a phone in 1897. At 24:20. In our old family home, my grandparents first had a phone in the home in the later 1920's. My father told me, neighbors would come to the home and ask to use the phone.

The crew did a great job putting victorian 19th century furnishings in the drawing room and loved the old style 1897 phones. What was hilarious was in the present 1968 20th century the ghost of Quentin would ring that old phone continuously until David Collins answered it.

The 1897 storyline by far to me is the best that Dan Curtis put together. l know it was longer than 1840 and 1795. The way Joan Bennett and David Selby's characters start out at the beginning of the 1897 storyline is excellent as Quentin and Judith bickering over Quentin wanting some of Grandma Edith's money when she pass'es away. These episodes are far from dull, suspenseful.
