Kirk, How often do our automotive dreams actually come true? Let's celebrate a very practical and very OVERDUE new wagon from a credible manufacturer.🎊🎊 Whether they call it a Crown SUV, Crown CUV or Crown Cross, it is about time we got a Japanese premium wagon to compete with the European brands.🥳🥳 Let's also be REALISTIC about sales figures as it is a niche model. I would like to go on the record in saluting the designers' decision to keep the D pillar sanely sized as too many vehicles in this class are blighted by a bloated D pillar.👏👏 On a practical note, I hope they can get the tow capacity up to the 3,500 lbs range we see with the Highlander and Sienna Hybrids which share the same powertrain. Wagon fans in the bargain price range still want the Corolla Touring, Touring Sports, Fielder and Probox. This Crown gives us reason to keep hoping. 🤞🤞 🤞🤞

As a child of the 60's, the "Estate" name was quite popular for larger wagons, mostly in the 70's and 80's. I think it's a great comeback name considering this new wagon at this price point is going to appeal mostly to the baby boomer generation. The name is quite nostalgic for us and brings back many fond family trip memories. I LOVE the long flat useable floor space and the long roofline that helps the back stay more square and useable for cargo. I'm very excited to see a wagon finally return to North America. But what I'd really like to see is a Camry version of this with the current 2.5l Hybrid system in FWD standard and AWD optional. That would be something more affordable for young families to enjoy and finally give us an economical fuel efficient solution in a vehicle with a space for the family dog and gear for the stuff we love to do.
@rightlanehog3151

The original Venza really was a stylized Camry wagon. It sold in decent numbers but got axed anyway. I hope Toyota sets more modest and attainable sales goals for the Crown Estate. Toyota has several wagon variants in their portfolio ie Corolla Touring, Corolla Touring Sports, Corolla Fielder and Probox. A reasonable reception for the premium Crown could lead to more affordable wagons in the future. Finally, it was not so long ago that the Matrix and several Scion wagons were for sale in our market, who knows what the future may bring. 🤞🤞

@@rightlanehog3151 The problem with all of the so called "wagon" attempts in the recent past is that they are all either modified hatchbacks or on SUV platforms with short limited cargo floors and raked rear rooflines, making them pretty useless in my book and not worth the extra fuel to move them. Case in point, - My Son purchased a 2019 RAV4 Hybrid while I own a 2018 Camry Hybrid. They both share the same Hybrid engine although his is bumped up a little in horsepower to make up for the added wind resistance, weight, and larger tires. His also has the electric rear axle for AWD which I don't need. My Camry Hybrid averages 48 mpg while his RAV4 Hybrid averages 36 mpg. That's a 12 mpg difference for a pretty useless back section. And over the course of 300,000 miles, which is how long I keep my Toyota's, that results in an additional cost of over $8000 with $4.00 gal gas. A FWD Camry Hybrid wagon with a "proper" squared off long roofline and a long flat floor would have a much more useable rear area (look at pictures of old Camry wagons) and most likely it will only suffer a 3-4 mpg loss instead of the 12 mpg loss the RAV4 does. And the Venza is just a modified RAV4 that get's even lower gas mileage with a highly stylized roofline making it even more worthless than the RAV4's already compromised back area. Please Toyota, bring us back a proper Camry wagon.

@@rightlanehog3151It will fail like the Venza did - wagons per branding just aren’t where it’s at in North America, changing the name to Crown (which brings images of old Toyota Japanese market luxury sedans) won’t help much. Instead of wasting resources on niche vehicles (want a wagon? Buy a highlander and fold third row), increase production of existing crossovers/wagons, Highlander, RAV4, Corolla Cross, to wipe out the dealer rip off.

Man, I’m disappointed about the crown sport. Would’ve been a perfect car for me, but we live in America where the unibody SUV is king. Oh well. But this lifted wagon is a genuinely interesting option, I’m thinking about it like a classier outback with better powertrains. Putting it that way, it’s a very solid option. That's more closer to a suv than a wagon from at least from that thumbnail. It has a body profile similar to that of a GLC but that's not bad and maybe it also has some Fortuner design ques aswell. It's profile is similar to a Fortuner but with a lower or sportier roofline. It does look more interesting than a Fortuner so I'll give it that and it looks better. However, the problem would probably be the price in my country. It would probably be really close to a million or over a million cash but considering new car prices have significantly gone up in recent years, it's probably gonna be the price of the Crown models that may be coming to the country

I think when it comes out someone will probably put body coloured cladding and lower it to be an actual station wagon cause it’ll so much better. to me SUVs are pointless cause you could buy an old 70 series and then buy a station wagon for a family car and not have to lug around all that extra weight.

I think the Crown is going to replace the Venza. There is no room for this SUV in the line up without removing the Venza. We’ll see.

What’s the diff between this Crown Estate and the Toyota Highlander? Or is it slotted between the Pathfinder and the Venza? I’m confused 😐

Why aren't we getting the crown sport? There are so many cars that look like the estate in the market already. We want the sport. Who is deciding what we as the majority want? I don't get it.

Toyota just nailsit with the design in the last two years. The crown lineup, the new Prius, the ch-r in europe plus the yaris and aygo. The corolla started it all 4 years back. Sweet times for Toyota customers 🎉

Isn’t this what the Venza used to be - a lifted wagon version of Camry? Sounds like same concept, which wasn’t that successful. Changing name to Crown won’t help much. Much rather Toyota increased production of the various existing wagons (which is what crossovers are) to remove the dealer mark up rip off.

Better be faster off the line than the base Crown.

This would make more sense if it was the continuation of the old Venza since it looks more like it. The new Venza looks more like the butterfly looking Prius. Toyota is a little confused. Still waiting for the Mini Land Cruiser though.

Is it WORTH buying a Lexus over a Toyota anymore?
