I'm betting the closest any of these SUV's get to see any nature is a soccer field. But this has really nothing to do with selling you a tough, bad ass, rock climber. It's really about, "Selling the Dream". Marketing cares only about that. Marketing firures out the various dreams people have for their vehicles. Then they create the specific vehicles that can simulate that dream. But they don't need to invest in the cost of fulfilling that dream that has an extremely low probability of being fulfilled. I wish honda would start making a hybrid system for their motorbikes and moped that have CVT transmissions. As they are now they get around 100 mpg, but if they added hybrid tech it should be maybe close to 200 mpg.

Kawasaki has a hybrid now...but very pricey.

Now if Mazda would bring back the Tribute and Nissan the beloved Xterra then we would have the competition we've long awaited for.

Agreed. I forgot all about the Tribute, it’d be very interesting to see current Mazda design a modern day one. I do believe the Xterra is more likely to happen in the next couple of years but we’ll see what happens

The old Passports used to actually look like rugged SUVs back in the 90s, before they turned them in to goofy, bulbous soccer mom SUVs. It would be nice to see a return to form.
