As a window tinter, I'll let you in on a little insight on this car since a large amount of people love to get their windows tinted. The windows on this car may have a coating on inside of them that Toyota and Lexus has put on a couple of models such as the NX and the Venza. You can tell if the glass has it by spotting "UVU" in the embedded stamp on the bottom corner. If it says UVS, it usually doesn't have the added coating. The problem is that when we tint windows, during the prep stage, we usually use a scrub pad or a stainless razor blade to knock off any adhesive or debris that will show up in the tint job.. well doing so can scratch the coating. The tint shop will then be on the hook to either replace the glass or spend a lot of time scraping it all off. The coating is supposed to reduce the UV transmitted through the glass but I'm sure that window film does a better job, especially if you get a nice nano-ceramic tier. A lot of shops know about this and don't want to touch them due to the liability. If they do, they will let you know that if you ever have the tint removed, the coating will be damaged and the window will then need to be replaced. And they better do it perfectly on the first try!

@jerbsherb43912 ай бұрын
can you put on a tint without removing the coating? I am saying this if someone wanted to do the tint themselves and not putting the reputation of tint company at at risk
@evo9rs2 ай бұрын
it can be tinted without damaging the coating, but if you mess up or get a fiber in it and have to pull the tint off you might be in some trouble. It's not a good one to learn how to tint windows on. The rear window with defrost won't have the coating, or if it has the darkened factory privacy rear windows same thing, no coating. It's mostly found on front doors.

Ive had the crown Signia limited w the tech package for about 3 weeks now. This replaced my 2012 Outback. Took on a road trip and put on 1100 miles. I can verify that this is a very smooth, quiet and comfortable touring car. City mpg is 40 mpg. Highway is 35mpg at 77mph. It’s almost as quiet as the wife’s Lexus Es300h(2022) but it does ride more plush and the seats front and back are much more comfortable in the Signia. I paid $56k otd in California. Love it so far.

i have a '25 signia limited and for a car with so many features it feels surprisingly comfortably simple. It is a pleasure to drive. In my mind it's a Camry wagon with more luxurious comforts than a subaru or vw and better gas mileage and reliability than a bmw or volvo. My last volvo's check engine light would go off every time the dealer needed to make a boat payment. I think Toyota got it right, if you want a third seat, opening sunroof, off the line bragging rights, a real off-road suv, or a prestigious emblem on the bumper, it is a rich market to buy something else.

Really expensive for a car... How is a young family supposed to afford this? Or a young person trying to survive? How is a young person with no resources supposed to survive and get ahead? There are no real economic vehicles. For you to get a decent roi on this vehicle you would have to drive it like 400k miles over 30 years which is really long for a car.... Also the higher the price initially the more capital you have to have to even buy it, or the more you lose to interest. I would love just a simple fwd 4 cylinder wagon.... Something so young people can have vehicles that can do basic work like door dash, delivery, or if they need to move apartments they have room to carry basic things. Just a simple fwd, wagon, 4 cyl, and can maybe tow 1000lbs here and there. That way if you have to move across state you can do it easier. Then do that for under $30k. I think an older Minivan still makes sense for more people.

The Camry has slightly quicker acceleration and weighs less, but I was impressed by both vehicles. It felt very comfy, easy and familiar handling the 2025 Camry b/c I've driven an old school '02 Camry XE for 23 years. I REALLY enjoy the height difference, luxurious look and feel of the inside and the EXTREMELY comfy seats in my Crown. Mine came with a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor as part of the Advanced Technology Package, which also includes a review mirror camera in case the cargo blocks your view.The seats actually swayed me towards the Crown but it was all of the unnecessary doo dads that sealed the deal. I have yet to appreciate the technical stuff like the shift lever, TSS & cruise control features or the darn A/C and fan controls. I'm an old school middle-aged driver in that sense that likes comfort over speed except for around tricky corners and empty roads then I'm a speed-racer! I'm also gonna spring for the spare-tire.

I am a very BIG fan of the Signia. The inside space would be even 'more perfect' if Toyota provided a traditional 40/20/40 rear seat which could slide and recline rather than those gimmicky flaps. A 40/20/40 seat would provide ample space for 4 passengers and allow skis, fishing rods etc. to be carried along with luggage. To compound this oversight on the new Signia, Toyota has dropped the 40/40/40 second row from the new 4Runner and failed to include it with the Land Cruiser.

I have driven the ‘25 Crown Signia Limited for about a month now. Approximately 700 miles. I have the same observation with the torque. The engine “feels” like a V6 when you are driving in Normal and Sport Drive mode. The full-time AWD does feel like you are actually in an SUV. Turning radius is very good, if I have to compare this to my previous 2016 Avalon. The seat is comfortable and we have been stuck in traffic with it. I hope that Toyota will come out with the “Platinum” model and maybe add the power steering column, HUD and maybe the retractable roof. I have been only using 91 octane for fuel and I have been getting 35mpg City and 42 mpg HWY. My only complaint is the manual steering column and no roof racks/accessories.

Hey AMD, Out here in Germany manufacturers were supposed to take batches on their cars to show that there are high voltage components in it. The reason for that is, that fire fighters can take it into consideration when they get used to work with one of theses cars after an accident to didn't get injured themselves due to harmed high voltages parts. So they can use special chemical components to shut the fire down without any trouble. Maybe for this reason it's installed in the US too, unless it's a safety thing, which may be important to Toyota as a manufacturer. Best greetings to community :)

I like AMD so much that I took his advice to buy a Crown Signia XLE. As he said, it doesn't make sense for the Limited having sunroof but can't take air in. Correction: the smart keys work for all doors of the XLE. Addition: On XLE you can use smart phone to remotely unlock/lock doors and start/stop the engine. You can also open/close the lift gate hand-free with a kick to the right side bottom. 9:47

16:18 - headlights are "down" there for the reason - not to blind drivers of regular, small cars in front (and that has been the law in Europe since long ago)
@arsyadidris63492 ай бұрын
Indeed… safety regs have made it so that there needs to be certain height between the surface of the hood and the solid engine bits. This results in a very tall front end. But if they design the headlamp main “face” low, its gonna look weird, its gonna make the car look like it has a face with an oversized forehead. So the solution of making the DRL where the “eye” of the face should be, and the actual headlamps as “dimples” on the “cheeks” is pretty genius.

I appreciate the mechanic's learned eye explaining what this is: a Toyota among Toyotas. I wonder if it is actually sold as a Lexus model under a different name in other markets. Also interesting to see a higher-model Toyota without dark tinting in the rear windows. It's rare. I've been telling a friend who is moving to California and worried about crime to get a station wagon with clear rear windows. That way thieves can clearly see that the cargo area is empty. These days, on the West Coast, they just break windows just to see if there is anything valuable.

Thank you so much for your review! I've been on the fence about this model after I saw some of the reviews on US News. Their comments were a finicky CVT, loud engine and high base price. It was rated 5.6 in drive/performance, 7.1 for interior and 6.3 for value - overall ranking considered below average for it's class (#61 in 2 row SUVs, #81 in crossover hybrids and #13 in hybrid SUVs). I happen to like the car very much and can't wait to test drive one.
@EfficientRVer2 ай бұрын
"Finicky CVT" is not true of any Toyota hybrid eCVT. It's not a CVT at all. It's locked into its one gear, and just appears to change gear ratios, by changing the ratio of gas engine rpm to electric motor rpm. Even Reverse is not a different gear, it's the same gear with the electric motor spinning backwards! No gear changing, ever. No slippage, ever. The reviewers didn't know what they were talking about, regarding the transmission. It's as finicky as a differential, which is to say, not at all.

Paddle Shifters are useful in all cars. It is an easy way to downshift on down hill slopes so you don't heat up and wear out brakes. Just don't over do it and stress the transmission. Two to 4 gears down will help on short grades and what ever it takes in the mountains.

Actually the paddle shifters are a very useful feature, especially in a hybrid. You can save your brakes and very slightly increase your MPG by using the paddle shifters to slow down when going down hill, or coming to a stop at a stop light. When you "down shift" it uses the generator or electric motor to maintain vehicle speed down hill, and in turn charges the hybrid battery, which you can later use to accelerate instead of gasoline engine. In our 2022 RX we get 2mpg better than EPA rating and we live on a hill. @40k miles brakes look brand new.

What's flawed about the turbo engine? I'm thankful they kept the simpler NA 2.5 in this car too, but as far as I know, the 2.4T has not had any issues. This car will probably get the new 1.5T or 2.0T in 2027, so buy a NA version while you can.
