I've been trying to pin down why I find Iceland so stunning. I live in Australia (massive temperature differences) and I think the wide open spaces of both countries is what I love so much. Another thing that makes the two similar, is the fact that if you act like an idiot or are ignorant of the dangers, both lands will kill you. Thank you very much for your videos. Cheers.

From the very beginning of the eruption in Iceland back in March I have been totally fascinated by the processes, the changes, the films, the knowledge shared... I look forward to what appears in the coming weeks... and one day hope I can visit Iceland to see these events for myself. Thank you again for the excellent information. Kindly John

Since Iceland is two tectonic plates pulling apart, an earthquake swarm so localized is a good precursor to some kind of new activity.

Well, I am not him, but then he needs co camp out there for some weeks ;-) With a fire protecting sheet under the tent of course just in case... ;-) When it starts like the 2nd or 3rd outbreak in Geldingadalur, it first only looks like a camp fire, but a strange one without wood and it looked like gas was burning on the ground. Then quickly we started to see lava coming out, maybe spitting up just barely only 20cm in the air. Then it gets bigger and bigger... it forms a crust around the outbreak and so on... But if there is ground water where the magma rises, it would burst in a big explosion and no one wants to be there... Or if it is an old volcano and the only magma channel goes only right to this one volcano and the material around is very hard, than the pressure builds up so much, until it explodes and maybe takes the top of the volcano down with the explosion and it would be a very violent eruption. That's not typical for this part of Iceland though.
@JustIcelandic3 жыл бұрын
Heheheh. I admit that I got a bit hot this weekend, checked all batteries and such but have the feeling that I have to wait a bit...Max 3 weeks was my guess in the video...but 5-10 days would not surprise me and I will be close by during... or very shortly after the action starts...

its interesting that the eq's are moving towards keilir (esp the one right under the small cone) but as you say they are not really evidence of an impending eruption just evidence of an earthquake but shield volcanos do have a history of altering there plumbing and sending lava to other places . if keilir went up (im just running the idea here) i think there would be problems :- 1.its that old would have to blow the rock plugs / vent out or at the very least spend ages heating it up and melting it. 2.i think because of the age it would find an easier exit. 3.isnt there more water held in the water table there ? , if so that would make for a bigger bang and more ash?. 4,keilir (if i remember your earlier vid) was the 2nd place in the list they expected to erupt before it picked the current location , so it may still happen. 5. in the vid showing the lava in the valley (sorry i didnt get the time stamp) it shows a huge crack down the middle , is that cooling or a lava tube or is it where the valley is spreading apart?. 6. a volcanologist is a person who gets educated and a diploma to be a professional guesser , its not erupting , it is erupting , we think it may erupt soon possibly , if it does erupt and we are not saying it will just now , we think it will erupt here in this place , or there in that place , or possibly a third place , ok ok we have a top ten of places it may erupt if indeed it will erupt. 7. like the vids and time lapses keep up the good work and thank you for taking the time to keep us informed and above all stay safe.

It's not looking good, I noticed the 4.2 after your video which links in to what you were saying about the potential for larger quakes. Is it possible that this could become solely a tectonic event as an eruption already took place? On a side note, have you noticed the large deep quakes around the globe last few days, these eventually work their way around the globe causing lots of activity. La Palma is looking like a very bad situation, I think Europe as a whole will see a very bad winter, unless of course you have some nice fresh lava to snuggle up to.
@JustIcelandic3 жыл бұрын
The weird thing is that we are getting so very little science info that I have so little to build on while making the updates now...The answers are: Those might be tectonic movements, or not, might end up with an eruption, or not, might see stronger earthquakes, or not....but judging from the widespread seismic activity on the peninsula, one would easily guess tectonic movements.. And I'm sure we have plenty of lava to pump up, Geldingadalir was perhaps just a sample of what's under there :)
@forthedisenfranchised43663 жыл бұрын
@@JustIcelandic I think the scientists are perhaps still reeling a little from the awakening on the peninsula and are not wanting to stick there necks out until they're 100% certain. btw, my map and mug arrived to Sheffield in super fast time (I think I ordered only on Tuesday, and delivery man popped a card through my door whilst I was out - very quick turnaround, thank you!

@W1se0ldg33zer3 жыл бұрын
You can see right where the entire fault line is at 3:45 - all those earthquakes outline the faults. It can erupt anywhere along that line. The danger is from hot magma rising up and running into ground water which could possibly create a phreatic eruption. This particular system isn't known for doing that - but they're highly unpredictable so you just have to keep clear until it decides what it wants to do.
@W1se0ldg33zer3 жыл бұрын
The history of where it erupted showed that the ground sinks right before it erupts - so they should keep an eye out for that to happen and if it does clear out from the area.

An observation. During early 2021 all planets could be observed together in one 'sky'. They where of course many millions of km from each other and earth but the centre of gravity of the Solar system was one sided relative to earth. Could the combined micro gravities be the trigger to present day volcanic activities? Is there any evidence for this influence has happening before?

@stephenbird56413 жыл бұрын
I'm sure you're right in expecting an eruption. I'm expecting an ongoing series of eruptions for the next several years. Why you may ask, well increased tectonic activity is an inevitable effect of reduced solar output. The reduction in solar wind allows more cosmic rays to enter our atmosphere and they cause an excitation of the magma as they pass into the solid earth. This increases both volume and fluidity so pressure increases and an escape is sought. This is also the reason for La Palma's problems, a good video of which can be seen at Magnetic Reversal News.

After a century of dormancy, Vulcano has suddenly sprung to life north of Sicily. So far the events are limited to steam and gas fumarolic activity, but the entire port town built at the foot of the volcano is at risk of being wiped out should an explosive vulcanian eruption occur. At the rate things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if Vulcano began actively erupting by the end of the month.
