Kudos to the people who are building fantastic structures in terms of style and designs. What saddens me though is the quality of the roads. It seems no one holds the developers to account for the poor quality roads in all the new suburbs sprouting up all over Harare. There seems to no due diligence as well in assessing if an area will be suitable for putting up structures. This particular area is swamp, it used to be a city of Harare farm where the city used to keep cattle. From Mabelreign police camp to Kirkman road, all that area used to be just cattle pens. I worry about how ground moisture ingress will affect the integrity of these buildings, as the kind of building one needs to put up there requires a great deal of engineering that can withstand dampness, similar to what they do when building a bridge. I just hope for the best and pray water ingress will not be an issue in the coming years.

I lived in the Mabelreign/Meyrick Park area since 1956. The area between Meyrick Park and Monavale then stretching out to Milton Park and Belvedere was all vlei. Water catchment areas and not ever to be built on. After independence and with no land surveying people started to build. All those houses would have had subsidence and cracked. I know there was no under-pinning. Back in the day you could never have got a mortgage. You have made great videos. Well done.

This area is definitely called Maranatha. I have a bro who stays that side. City of Harare corrupt councilors selling stands in wetlands. There will not be any change in Zim regardless of who is in power. Sad. Beautiful homes though.

Nice video Mr Zim. You guys know how to build although I am noticing that like in my native nation of Zambia most of the streets in these lovely new suburbs do not have enough nature strips where safe pedestrian walks. Is this problem due to lack of land or what?
@MrZim263
@MrZim263 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Larson, developers probably want to maximise on the number of plots they can fit on the land
@mticha9566
@mticha9566 Жыл бұрын
It’s not lack of land but that the Harare Council stopped doing what used to be done before the country system or bylaws were destroyed. It was the responsibility of the council to make sure that bylaws were followed. Roads, pedestrian roads were built first before anything else and water connections done. When there was still rule of law in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 inspectors used to come and inspect your building from foundation level up to roofing level. Now people just build anyhow they like. The council either they are now clueless of proper procedures or they don’t care at all.

@@MrZim263 the point is u can get bigger stands in better neighbourhoods for the same money or less so it doesn’t make sense , but as the saying goes “ there’s a sucker born everyday so I’m guessing some people will buy into it 🤷🏾‍♂️.

I think it's a fair price considering its location and distance from the city centres.its close to both madokero and Westgate shopping centre, national stadium,closes to industrial areas.yiu can't Compare this area to Ruwa ,nyabira and other outskirts areas.also the roads are tarred and electricity in place.most developments now don't have proper services in place is a fair price.by the way a fair price is more to do with the cost of the land and servicing it has nothing to do with what people earns
