That was good timing then. Glad they enjoyed the last lot. The window waterfall was pretty funny. Wasted so much water. Drum got stuck in a clean cycle this morning. Between both of them I've easily done a 50% water change this week

@@dannycurrie1 Oh yes they love them except one chag :( You need to do 10kg next time lol. What flow are you putting over your shower btw, I keep mean to ask. Cheers. PS good to see you're keeping the glass clean :D

@@Simonsimps very strange about the Chag. I'm sure it will come around. If you want 10kg let me know. Just sent you an email. Can change your order to 10kg if you wanted? I do clean the windows some times 🤣 Showers got a 20klpm pump running at 80% not sure what flow it actually puts out

Like totally different fish with the heater back on. It's really surprising how much it affects there behaviour. New filter cage is working well. Still struggling to get all the media moving with my 75lpm pump and 35lpm. Going to have to bite the bullet and order a bigger pump I think

Placing an airstone under your newly installed return could help to knock off any filter media that may get stuck to it. That’s what I do with mine.
@dannycurrie1

I did try that. For some reason on my setup it made the pump suck air in. The ashp didn't like it very much. Seems to be working fine now fingers crossed 🤞

Hi, so glad to see that you have sorted the IBC. Great stuff. Ball valves are expensive, but why don't you put a gate valve as it's only to isolate the drum occasionally? They are cheaper and it would be a quick job and better for the small length of pipe you have there. Just an idea 😊 see you Sunday !
@dannycurrie1
@dannycurrie1 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah thinking about it I definitely should have put a gate valve in while I had it apart. Will definitely do that at some point. Was a real pain in the ass to sort it without. Ended up soaking my shed floor 🤣

Catching up on your videos mate 👍 Good job finding that stainless tube. I need something to put in your old moving bed container to stop the pump getting clumps of media stuck to it like you had. Off I go to find a stainless sheet or something!

Should be plenty of bio there once it's fully mature. I've just put an extra 50l of k+ in this week. So I think it's 230l of media in total now. More than enough. Back up to feeding 300g a day now we're back up to 21 degrees. Hopefully get that up to 500g soon if I can.

Love my remora so far, not used it in the depths of winter yet as I only got it in early march and Never used a thermotec so can't compare. But the running costs are great with the remora and the customer service from them has been brilliant. Always answer the phone if you need them even at the weekend

Hi Danny, Problems with your media sticking in the IPC Bed ? If the pull pressure by the pump is greater than the upward pressure of the air, the media will stick. I think the IPC is too big (wide) compared with its height. You need a biological chamber that's taller so the media is out of reach from the pull of the pump. What do you think ? You could always increase the air flow to a ridiculous amount.
@dannycurrie1
@dannycurrie1 3 жыл бұрын
Have the ibc which is quite wide and shallow definitely doesn't help I agree. You would have the same issue with back pressure on a taller one though. as the media tumbles in the air it dose go right down to the bottom even in a deeper moving bed so it would still happen. Proper purpose made moving beds have large perforated sheets to keep the media in and stop the back pressure. Possibly one day I'll change to something purpose made, money's a little tight at the moment. I should have done it right first time but you live and learn

Why on earth are you running a heater on your pond in August, winter I can sort of understand but August? I’ve been keeping Koi for some 30 years and never ever heated my pond, even in winter!
@dannycurrie1
@dannycurrie1 3 жыл бұрын
Because I can mostly. Ashp cost alot of money so might aswell use it. It only costs about £5 a month this time of year to keep them at 21 degrees. The fish definitely prefer a stable temperature and I should get more growth. I will be heating through the winter aswell but not to 21.
@ces69
@ces69 3 жыл бұрын
@@dannycurrie1 I think the rise in resistant parasites is due in part to the unnatural way Koi are being kept, all in the name of growth, temperatures of 16-18 are not detrimental! Seasons are natural and our attempts to bypass them are likely to have consequences in the long run! I’ve got 75-80cm Koi without any sort of heating and never lost a fish in winter due to cold!
@dannycurrie1
@dannycurrie1 3 жыл бұрын
@@ces69 each to there own buddy. Koi and carp for that matter originate from countries with much warmer summers than the UK so I don't think keeping them at 21 in summer is an issue. I agree keeping them at that all year isn't good for them, they do need a winter to help with natural cycles and stop females getting egg bound. Mine will have a winter and i will let them temps drop but the heater will be used to keep the temperatures stable, they are definitely much happier when the temperatures don't fluctuate wildly
