Just finished the the series & Yes its definitely an underrated one! Amazing video in explaining the power scaling. The series starts off slow (as with any series though) but when it picks up and the story plays out along with the battles, my eyes were glued to the animation. The sound design is definitely a chefs kiss that adds to the animation. Can’t wait for the new season to come out whenever that is!

I went to college on a scholarship for advanced physics, so I'd love to elaborate on the "nothing can travel faster than light" rule. Nothing with mass can travel faster than light in a vacuum. A power system that is very similar to Fire Force (which it would be dope if you also did a video on) is Code Geass. Whereas Fire Force focuses on fire and heat/energy based abilities, Code Geass focuses on mental/psychological abilities. Despite that seeming like a small topic to focus on, there are really cool abilities you'd see in other anime like stopping time and future sight found in Code Geass yet both are given explanations that keep it consistent with being mental/psychological abilities. Geass is definitely supernatural but it doesn't break it's own consistency/ and makes sense unlike quirks from My Hero Academia and mutations from X-men for example where any power is possible despite genes/normal science being the thing that causes it.

Another Speed of Light thingy: it's referring specifically to ordered information. Hawking Radiation is radiation emitted from out of the event horizon of a black hole and its reasoning thus far as we understand it is that it is capable of traveling past lightspeed because the information itself is random. You also have Astrophysical Jets which are basically Kamehamehas spit out of black holes from both ends, pure energy belched out when (its believed as far as we understand it) a black hole consumes too much mass too quickly

Is odd that my favorite character is Captain Obi? I just love how he’s able to keep up with the other captains despite his only power being that he’s 6’2”. I’ve never really been drawn to the unpowered badasses in anime before but Obi just does it in SUCH an inspirational way. He doesn’t have any fancy techniques and even his hysterical strength isn’t really a power but more something all humans in Fire Force are able to achieve. He’s just 6’2 in Tokyo and puts 1000% into saving others. My boy doesn’t even have resistance to fire/heat, 100% pure will and nothing else. Hal Jordan is quaking in his hard-light boosts seeing Obi at work wondering when he’s gonna cop a ring
