@@klauskarlkrausNo it isn't. The Helix is much better today than it was 3-4 years ago. Ever since update 3.5 it sounds much better. I'd rank the Helix as one of the top 3 all in one modelers out there. However since there was just a leak regarding an upcoming modeler from Fender I'll have to wait and see. Headrush Prime certainly has the most intuitive and best user interface out of all of them.

This is PERFECT for me. I do solo gigs with vocals and an electric guitar and I've never delved into vocal FX units because who wants to add another piece of gear to their live setup, but this takes care of that issue! In fact, with this I wouldn't even need a mixer anymore, which is amazing

@@BkBk-gy6vr Fractal's UI is repeatedly touted as one of the worst in the modelling world today so "easy" isn't really applicable. There's no denying the sound or the sales but how much of that is just name brand recognition? I've used quite a few of these modelers and they all seem to be reaching a point in the last few years where it's all just opinion on which sounds best. For example, Line 6 does great in the effects department but I think kemper, fractal, and QC all have better amp sounds which begs the question. Why is Line 6 THE biggest seller. My contention is that it's because of availability and what's shoved in people's faces the most.

I've been using an old Digitech GSP-1101 with the Foot Controller 2 for my guitar sounds for many years now. I ran the GSP-1101 thru a power amp then thru a 4x12 Marshall. As I've gotten older and moving a 4x12 has become difficult, I switched to a Headrush FRFR-108 and currently run the GSP-1101 thru that. To further minimize the gear I have to carry and set up, I recently purchased an old Digitech RP-1000 to replace the GSP-1101 and the Foot Controller 2 as a "stepping stone" (pardon the pun) to a Helix Floor. I'm now thinking I might go with the Headrush Prime instead.

I have the first gen and I love it. This one looks insane, and now I have to get one of them, too. Why do I even come here, it costs me money every single time... As far as using it with amps like Lee is talking about, I use mine into a valve amp, with a dry amp blended. It preserves the natural tone of the guitar/amp rig and the board does works extremely well for that. I don't use many pedals, and they're never more than barely on the add character to my tone, so why mess with pedal boards? This is a one stop shop for guys like me, who'd have a $1k pedalboard anyway, but that's all I'd have. That one very limited board.

I have a Headrush Pedalboard which has now been gathering dust for a couple of years. Don't get me wrong, I did gig with it and really liked it but what was the eventual killer for me was the lack of any king of PC editing software and after years of Headrush User Forum members requests for PC software Headrush have not once replied to any of these requests. There have been many many complaints to HR but they have NEVER responded. That was the end of it for me and I was a good customer having bought Pedalboard, Looperboard and two FRFR112 powered speaker units that I still use would and have no hesitation in recommending. Anyway to cut a long story short, a couple of years ago, I bought a Helix LT which is supported by fantastic PC software HxEdit as well as a DAW plugin. I'm writing this in the hope that as a Headrush distributer you may have more push than their fast reducing customer do. Sorry for the rant.

Fun fact, you don't have to have the vocal stuff on a vocal signal path - you can apply all of them to the guitar as well, or go the other way around (applying guitar FX to your vocal chain). Not sure what the applications of that would be outside of turning on the AutoTune for Joe Satriani's "Wind in the Trees", but there you go.

@@KenithCopeland Thanks. I understand what you're saying. However, when there are a number of worthy competitors to choose from, and pros and cons lists are made, one definitely needs to take into consideration the activity level of the developers, especially for a software-driven product. All the more so given the price. Either way, I'm just glad to see them releasing another full-sized board. If this pedal had multiple looper channels like the dedicated looper board, I could pair down my rig from the 3 big pedals to 1. This would be the ultimate rig for a solo acoustic act. What would be useful for pre-existing HeadRush owners looking to upgrade (and new users who are keeping a side-eye on the second hand market), is if we had more of a direct comparison between the previous generation Pedalboard and this - besides the obvious, were any effects or amps added? Does it sound any different if you load the same patches in? Etc, etc.
@illiElias

As a pedalboard user i can tell you its allright. But if you have the capability go for the prime. It has so many usefull features that the pedalboard just cannot give. For me the cloning alone would be argument enough to not go for the old version. But i guess it depends on what you need from the unit. If you just wanna play around for a reasonable price get the old one.

Couple questions: 1: How much looping time do you get? 2: Can you clone an amp & sounds from an application such as Amplitube? 3: Can you import patches from artists you like? (The way you can import patches to the GT-1000 and the Helix)
@JohnvanCapel
@JohnvanCapel Жыл бұрын
1. Looping time is about 20 minutes stacked (maximum length of a single track being 5 minutes), same as on the older Pedalboard. It's more than you'll ever really need. 2. Sadly, I don't think you can import clones made with other applications (Impulse responses are typically just .wav files so those will work), but... 3. There is the Headrush Cloud which allows you to download clones, presets and IR's uploaded by other users, so if an artist you like uploads something you can get that.

Just do "post" as opposed to "pre" and you can change patch without changing the loop.

Good Demo! Do you think the vocal harmony capabilities are on par with the TC-Helicon VoiceLive 3X?

I was thinking about replacing my computer interface and Axe-FX with a Helix but it doesn't have phantom power for the mic...this does. I'm intrigued...

This seems like a very good board, and it seems that it can do a lot and is very versatile. There is only one big problem! Whenever a new pedal board comes out no matter who makes it all the of these people that make the demos for these boards seem to think that the only kind of guitars that are played are electric guitars. 30 to 40 percent of us play ACOUSTIC GUITAR. WHY DOESN"T ANYONE DEMO THESE BOARDS WITH AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR. This always infuriates me! It's given that these boards are going to do a lot for electric guitars but none of these demos ever add a showcase as to how to dial in an acoustic guitar. We are always left out. The amps and IR's that are demoed are always for electric guitars. Why can't you include acoustic guitars patches in your demos. It was the same way when the HELIX came out. The Helix works with Acoustic guitars very well, but no one showcased how to dial in an acoustic rig until it was on the shelf for months. You can't just spend 3 or 4 hours in a music store to check how a board is going to work with your acoustic for a few reasons. One you would have to completely know how to run the board before you went in to try it out. Another reason is that most music stores are not going to let you set there and try it out for hours and then not buy it. I study a product inside and out before I buy it, always, but a good acoustic demo done at the same time as an electric demo would be an advantage and catch a much larger customer base. When it's getting harder and harder every day to sell products that only appeal to a specific kind of person (aka guitar players) and not the general population why would you not give yourself the sharpest edge to make a sale. Come guys let's get on the stick. Stop leaving us acoustic guitar players out in left field all the time with only electric guitar demos.

Damn it’s massive ! Would take up all the floor space of most pubs I’ve played in , it’s like all multi fx though , it’s how you use it and if it suits your set , sound is subjective etc , but nice screen and I would bet it’s great to record with.

Well...how bigs your pedalboard?

I don’t think it’s that big considering it’s covering Vocal FX and Guitar FX.

@@mrredritehand , well Mr Hand , I’ve stopped using boards and set up pedals on-top of my amp ( Velcro etc ) and use guitar volume and pick up selection to vary tone / volume . I might have one pedal on the floor for solos ( Mooer Funky Monkey ) but generally I’m done with tap dancing on pedals and having nowhere to dance and jump around ( no one should stand still while playing 🤣 ) without tripping over wires , leads and floor boards 😃👍

Does the Vocal Auto-tune do chord tracking in the same way that the TC Helicon Voicelive 3 Extreme does? Or is is necessary to set the vocal key manually? Thx.

This was my question as well because I do have the VoiceLive Extreme and love that feature. However, it appears that you do have to set it manually or you can use midi as well I guess. I haven’t seen the option to auto-detect the key. Maybe they could add it in a firmware update though?

@@johnnyh64 If you search for "Aaron Short Music" channel on KZbin, he's a performer who uses VL3X almost exclusively for his gigs and has done a decent analysis of the Headrush Prime vs VL3X in his KZbin "Live" feed, and a brief comparison of harmonies in his "Videos". Anyway, upshot is that the guitar effects are significantly better but the vocal effects are not up to VL3X standard.

With all these digital boards out now you should do a best “amplifier” option for a home studio with a digital rig. FRFR, just a powered speaker, studio monitors, an amp with effects loop?
