My line of work at the mine, the only department that is assigned black hivis are the electricians. I think black hi vis are nice looking, although the vests keep you hot,not so good in the summertime.

I'm a utility locator in FL, so I rarely need a jacket...soooo I got this one, and it came in today! I already love it! I ordered 1 size too big on purpose, and it feels like the right choice. I'll be using it on highways for maybe 1-2 hours a day, but my work area is well off the road with my strobes going and typically coned off. It does what I need it to, and it's more than what the city requires lol i used to just wear an orange tshirt.

@Ohio Power Tool. Thanks Harley and Mike for the quick run down. I thought black hi vis was for ninjas. Seriously, so I wonder whether some of the tow truck operators I see helping motorists on the side of the road shouldn't be wearing the same type of black hi vis jackets you just showed? what are the size options? and would it fit a 6"6 450 Ib linebacker?

For example with the Blaklader x1600 ANSI Type R Kneepad Work Pants w/ Nail Pockets (160918609933) they go up to 38x34 in pant size. Hopefully this helps you!

Almost every guy in my crew wear a class 1 safety black hi vis vest. Just ordered mine.

That is a great question, unfortunately I don't have an answer for that one. Here in the U.S. it differs from jobsite to jobsite, great question for the Safety director there! I'd love to know, if you find out!

If you’re wearing hi vis and you’re not required to your freaking tool.

Some jobs require "High Viz" but don't specific Class 2 or Class 3 so these could meet the need.
