All of Tasmania is 573k as of last census. The Greater Newcastle Area is also growing faster than Tasmania and I believe has significantly more jobs and wealth. Let's see, does any major build EVER come in on budget? No. The money spent gives us a a multi use stadium that "our own Tasmanian team" will use. That equals more tourist / fan dollars. The money to build it, to be there for all to see, is still not even equal to 12 months worth of money that's pours into our hospitals or health. If you look at a comparable city like Townsville, it's onto its 2nd stadium without any of the naysayers attracted to this project. They looked forward to having it for their sporting clubs and their own NRL team. Tassie has been trying for numerous generations to get our own AFL team so for all those naysayers this is not a whim but the fruition of countless years as a foundation Aussie rules state by tireless people who never lived to see our own team. 🎉
